Worst hotel to work at. If you are not in management you are treated like trash.
Place is full of vindictive and petty co-workers. Huge problem with racial favoritism and discrimination. They love to hire immigrants how are happy with low wages and being treated like trash. If you speak up about the many problems there you will then be targeted.
Worst place I ever worked at. I seen so many ppl quit on the job due to management not caring about anything. A highs school class president could run the place better.

If you want decent pay and to be treat like a work horse this is the place to work. They over work you and then have the nerve to call you lazy after. Also there is plenty of infighting between departments. The hotel is designed to pit departments against each other.

What is the best part of working at the company?
When the managers joke about whether or not they're going to make you cry that day.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The overbearing, panopticon like manner in which management micromanages the staff's every action

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Prison-like and abusive. Working in a meat grinder

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Show up, send emails for 8 hours straight, and never be allowed to take breaks.

I really enjoyed serving customers, I have had a few great reviews from guest who I went above and beyond for and made them have an enjoyable stay. I loved communicating with all the friendly staff in all departments of The Lord Nelson and always said hi everyone no matter what the job tittle.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Great historic property with so much character.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Ownership has strange management style. Everyone is on tender hooks.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Some roles are managed well and others are not.

Excellent staff, historical hotel.  Owner should better empower management team.

Good location, one of the best highlights is directly across Public Gardens and next to Spring Garden Road which is the busiest street in the city.

Mismanaged and highly political environment.  Rampant nepotism.  Hard work with positive reviews are not a priority. Who likes you will be. Senior staff get first dibs on everything from time off to work detail,  leaving little opportunity for newcomers.  Good luck. 

Management always complains and never has a positive attitude. My co-workers were the best part of my job. Long hours and no benefits. If I recommend working there? yes- but management need urgent improvements 

Short staffed, non-existent upper management. Guest satisfaction was not a priority of management. Poor/no training for staff. Serious lack of communication between departments.

I was the crew leader for the dish washing team at The Lord Nelson. I had a great time working with everyone and got to help out in the kitchen from time to time as well.

Hours are secure - full time/permanent if one needs them
No support from management to advance
No opportunity to implement new/own ideas for improvements
