M30 Retail Services Inc.

I worked with M30 as a Merchandiser from January 2018 for a few month project, as and honestly, looking back, I had such an excellent time working there, I would do it again if the opportunity came, and if I was available too.

My bosses, the team leads, my M30 team, construction crew, to store staff I worked with were so wonderful, helpful and great hard working people to work with. I was surprised and amazed and really lucky that I was surrounded with a lot of great people to work with, and I mean EVERYONE! I miss them all. 

Besides them being so awesome, they were very good to work with and were all hard working, and we all got along great. 

My team leads were very good to me. They made me feel so comfortable in the workplace, especially when I ran into any difficulties, and were always so helpful and patient when I needed them. They also acknowledged the good work I have done which always made feel good, but also gave me tips and advice on how to improve better too.

Working there gave me so much more experience in working with teams. I also learned so much about reading planograms better, and more in-depth stuff about merchandising I didn't know before, and I've been doing merchandising positions on and off for 5 years. It's all thanks to the team leads and my team mates.

Overall, I was very proud of being a part of the team the company and the Leduc Rona project, and I am glad I found this job at the right time, and I am so thankful and greatful to the management at M30 who gave me the opportunity and chance. 

I am also happy with M30 that they gave me another chance to work on other opportunities with them 2-3 months after the project I worked on. 

I had a wonderful experience with my time with M30. 

Again, I am so thankful to be a part of this company, and learned so much from them, that I would hope to work for them again someday if they ever need more merchandisers. If you ever do, please contact me, and hopefully I'll be available to work.

M30 is pretty great the pay was more than fair when I worked there and although my personal manager was not usually responsive or available my original trainer was always a call or text away and super friendly shes what I loved most about M30! However a certain store they contract to is not so great to be working in. The staff if friendly but management is not. It's obvious you are not wanted there, management rarely has planograms printed and ready, they regularly don't double check they've printed the correct plaograms, they usually don't have things ready for you to complete a section reset, if you need additional shelving have fun waiting for 1 of the 2 managers that are never on shift when you get there by the stores choice 8am but management doesn't show until 10am or later if at all. The staff say the langest seving manager regularly goes home early 1 day per week and the other is constantly late or no showing on shift and when you need these people to print planograms, tags, verify correct planogram to section, supply extra shelves etc it get annoying to goto work only to go home after 10 minutes due to no managers, missing shelves, reline refusals etc.

Not sure if I would recommend this company to anyone, they overpromised the job or that if you worked hard and showed up on time you'll be offered other jobs or projects.  They offer NO job security at all, if your looking for permanent employment, I would look else, if your looking for temporary employment or contract work (2 weeks) then this is it.  Also, there's a lot of miscommunication as to what needs to be done or clear direction of the job that needs to be done either for Merchandiser or Builder.  The pay is good, but overtime pay is not there, the project manager says there was overtime, but when I checked my paystub I don't see it, if they asked say no.  The 2 weeks project (Walmart reset/renovations) I was told that if I showed up (attendance and work hard) I would be given other jobs or projects, well I did worked very hard and was on-site half hour before the crew showed up, the team lead or project manager asked me to unload the trucks, which I did and done all the tasks that needed to be done, I done it.  I was hired as a merchandiser but was more interested in the building side of things, had some experience but wanted to learn.  

-Extremely disorganized company.
-They said they would provide training and didn't (other teams had someone with them on their first day, but I only received a YouTube video on how to fill out their paperwork...which there's an excessive amount of that repeats the same questions multiple times)
-Always had last minute changes
-Work hours were not as advertised and constantly changing, a part time 8hrs 2-3 days a week job turned into 12hr shifts 4-5 days a week
-Supervisors were not helpful- had different answers depending on who you spoke to and changed without warning or reason.
-Was constantly contacted outside of work hours (including after 10pm while away for a funeral).
-Changed from an overnight shift to a 5AM start less than a week before the job began 
- A harrassing coworker was not a concern regardless of their verbal abuse and multiple displays of physical acts of rage that endangered my own safety multiple times, infact, I ended up being penalized by the company for complaining about them.

Hired on as a Merchandiser primarily for resets. However,  1st task of the day, for upto an hour, was as a builder / laborer to move / teardown displays,  racks,  and shelves so flooring subcontractors could resurface the floors. Next, I'd be assigned various Mod tasks and / or freight merchandise tasks requested by the Store for the shift. About an hour before the end of the shift I'd join the team to move back / rebuild the displays,  racks, and shelves to either the original positioning or to new locations. 
I  learned more details about various tasks that were done in a retail environment. The management were exceptional highly appreciated professionals at all stages. The work culture was very caring and helpful for all involved. 
The most difficult part of the job was on occasion to get everything done on time. However,  it was most enjoyable when we all worked as a team to assist one another to achieve our goals by the end of our shift. 

Variety of stores to call on gives you good learnings about different management styles at retail stores.
I enjoyed all the new faces, personalities I met.  Great folks work in retail. 
During Christmas season, expect to be working long days, and a rushed day if territory out of your home area, expect long travel time. 
Boss:  a bit on cold side, not interested in having a boss/ employee relationship.
Sometimes information for different stores not loaded into system properly.
You will be required to use your own cell phone, or ipad ( I never took my ipad into stores, based on theft).  Make sure your phone is charged.
When requesting needed supplies, company was not very timely or had none of what was needed.  
Loved the people I met at stores, helping the stores, making the company look good by way of servicing racks. 

You never actually know who you’re supposed to talk to or what to say. 
Training is only a YouTube video and that’s it, then they expect you to just know everything. 
 Not my only job and they don’t understand that not everyone just sits on their phone at work waiting for an email/call that might not actually come. 
On top of that the planograms that you are given week to week are never correct and you get to stress about what the right way is to fix it, knowing you could have to redo all the work no matter what. 
You spend anywhere from 3-10 hours a night there (you never actually know what your schedule is until you’re at that shift) and all you get in return is another petty text about not replying to emails immediately as if you’re meant to sit and wait for them cause you never know what time of day they’ll come.
Overall would not recommend as the only good thing is the salary.

I loved working for M30 as a  team lead in my area it was great. My coworkers were fun and made this job most enjoyable all but for one privileged  male  

Than one day the Calgary CEO who’s had the nerve to lied to me twice and pushed me out of the job I actually held for the second term of the contract. I’ve never had one complaint or warning the whole time I worked for them. 
I put up with harassment daily and being verbally attacked. I reported my coworker and they threw me under the bus . In  fact I was told I would be top of the list because I was the team lead the last two years and would  coming back . However this privileged male   called in a favour  and poof! I’m outta job. 
It’s nice to know that them good old racist boys clubs still exist. Calgary’s CEO  I hope Karma finds you

We were given projects ranging from 2 weeks to 6 months to redo a single department to relaying out the whole store. Each job we had new staff join us with some familiar management. I enjoyed the team aspect and working together with the different strengths of coworkers and management that were in place. I feel there wage is fair but one thing that came up was attendance. We were measurerd by a percentage with no consideration of reasons or legitimacy of being off. I feel if measured only by the attendance that there should be some level of measurement of productivity. Sometimes in a crew there are some that do not as much to get job done. 

Coworkers are usually pretty great, as are direct supervisors. Head office has a massive communication gap with the rest of the company, however.

The pay is decent, at $19/hr, but it is typically part-time (even if they promise full time, you will rarely, if ever, work full time).

Working here wasn't bad on a day-to-day basis, but if you want something permanent or full time, look elsewhere. M30 is brilliant at empty promises of job security and advancement. It just doesn't happen. Every one of my former coworkers from M30 is now unemployed, including my supervisor.

Overall,  I enjoyed the job, but head office tends to over-hire, and then lay off the excess people afterwards.
