Here is my true story after 15 years working there 

1) No union. Which means they can do anything they want with you
Lay you off in the winter, or They want you work 15 hours a day in the summer
2) This company pure DICTATORSHIP ! If you decide to take vacation in the summer They gonna tell you You may as well don't come back to work, because they dictate you when you can and can't
3)Such a stupid way they pay overtime after 50 hours 1 1/2 So they expect you to marry this job for whole season. At my new job I get overtime after 40 hours and it is double time Which is fare.
4) You only allowed 4 sick days per season (REALLY?) But hey this is started I believe in 2012 before that If you sick and stayed home You are not get paid Imagine. Same with a rainy day They will tell you to stay home and you not getting paid.
5) And Here is a good one! Always annoyed me. For some reason When Asphalt plant is not running in the winter, some people sit there doing nothing all winter and getting paid. Same as some people driving company pick up trucks all year using it to go fishing and getting paid all year round.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Family-oriented, safe, outdoor work, loyal to you when you are loyal to them. Conscientious workers get somewhere with Maple Leaf Construction.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The weather.  Long hours sometimes for those that don't have endurance.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Great. The culture is family-oriented, and the culture is outside work. Team work, but some responsible folk may work alone sometimes.  This company loves it when you show up for work.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
As a Rock Wagon operator, you show up for work. You sometimes haul mud from Stripping or rock to the Rock Crushers. Once a week you may be called on to help plant explosives in the holes drilled in the rock.

- The company has a tendency of hiring and promoting friends and family.
- Top management is lacking control over the company. The company is run by two families.
- High overhead and lack of project management are creating financial difficulties for the business.
- The overall culture of slacking and doing the minimum requirements.
- If you ask for a raise expect to get a response in 3 months.
- Good benefits package, decent pay (if you fight for it), lots of hours.
- Be prepared to be laid off during winter months.

Great hours and great experience, but they only promote/elevate friends and family of the management no matter how hard you work, or how much you learn. Going above and beyond is not recognized here. 

They are currently hemorrhaging veteran employees due to excessive Nipotism. You'll also notice they only promote Caucasians to the roles of foreman/supervisor/operator. 

Not a bad place to work depending on crew. Not much reward for hard work as lazy guys get paid the same as the go-to hard working guys.. sometimes lazy guys get ahead with easier jobs since they are less reliable.
Sadly no offers for winter work even if you want unless you are a foreman or in the shop.

Lots of politics, progression and success in this company is all based off who you know and who you associate with (specifically country crew) bad housing circumstances (camp, hotels, motels) and the only time you actually work a 12 hour shift is on a Friday before you go home after a 2 week work period 

It was an overall good experience, it can be stressful, usually because people didn't get along or work together. the hours were long, average 12-14 hours a day, but you only work for 6 months of the year. 

Lots of money to be had, but only if you're willing to give up your private family life for 6-7 months. Extreme hours are pushed on you by supervisors because they want a bigger year-end bonus.
Lots of good employees but this company is VERY cliqueish and unfriendly at times.

Excellent construction company to work for. Included is top wages and benefits. Typical workday is physically demanding and long; leaves a feeling of accomplishment.

Construction is hard work but it’s worth it if you love the money and the culture. It can be hard and challenging at times especially if you’re a woman but if you stick to your guns you should be fine
