Days are busy, if they have work. Don’t expect a lot of winter work. Laid off for almost 4 months due to no winter work. 
On the job training, is about a 6 second crash course, and told to go. 
If your good on one thing expect to run it forever, no real promotion from within, unless they don’t have a choice. 

Site foremen are actually the best part about the company. 
Expect a loud mouth operator to tell you how to do your job, thinking they know what is best. 
Owner makes random stop ins, and is usually rude when talking to anyone but management. 
Equipment is older, most runs decent, don’t expect problems fixed ASAP. 

No safety ticket help or training provided unless laid off 6 months or longer. 

Involved in projects we arrive early to ensure the equipment and manpower are ready for the days activity.  Safety is critical at MCL Group, so ample time is spent reviewing the activities and ensuring all tasks are discussed and risks managed.  Everyone is involved in safety, and nothing is too important to stop and discuss a potential hazard!  At MCL we do some amazing work, and the crew and I know we're going home every night as we work safe.

Most of the equipment I was operating was old and poorly maintained,however I was told they did have some better pieces on other job sites. As for the supervision there was one site supervisor that I didn't mind and would work for again under different circumstances. Transportation to and from camp to job site was over crowded for the number of employees and they didn't pay travel time. 

The foreman is key to this being a good job or not. The first season I worked here wasn't bad overall. When I returned, it was on a different crew and it was terrible.  I quit after a few days. The strange thing is, the company doesn't seem to realise the value of good morale at work, so the revolving door will continue to spin. 

Most of the people at mcl are a great group of people! I enjoy working for them, this is my third season with them. As long as you know what you’re doing and you do your job correctly or don’t lie about what you can do they usually treat you pretty good from my experiences! Things definitely get slow around Christmas but that’s for lots of oilfield/ construction. 

Underpaying company ,be prepared  to fuel your machines after 7 without pay  , will let you starve and keep you on the hook waiting for jobs to start . They will Lay you off after Christmas break with no warning  , superintendent will tell you anything to keep you around. That’s why they constantly have hiring adds on here, they can’t keep a decent employee

Good place to work if you know what your doing. One foreman has to harden up on a few of these longer term employees that don’t listen to him and he lets it go but plays the hard card with everyone else at the mine. Kinda contradictory and hard to respect someone that acts like that 

The company is expanding so there are always new opportunities. With multiple projects ongoing from BC, AB, and Sask there is a variety of work locations to transfer to. 

Ive been with MCL for almost 10 years now. My coworkers have always been easy to get along with, and ive been given lots of opportunities to work my way up within the company. With all my opportunities I have gained new knowledge in my different roles always with support from upper management.  

Great place to work. wages were very good. management and coworkers were awesome to work with. I really liked working with this company. stayed with them until job was complete. if asked I would definitely return to work with them again.
