The location I worked at has never been profitable - unfortunately the clients I dealt with on a daily basis were extremely hard to make any meaningful sale with. Many expected prices for simple things such as oil changes to be lower than the cost of the materials and labor for the time it took to do the job. The company has a reputation to many for just doing oil changes, when many shops are equipped to do a wide range of services. The quarterly distributed corporate Midas coupons might be to blame for that outlook.

Work itself was fairly comfortable. Often one's day would be composed of changing oil on at least four vehicles, replacing around 4 sets of brakes, repairing a puncture in a tyre, and seasonal tyre changeovers. Uncommon services at my location included engine head cover gaskets, spark plugs and ignition wires/ignition coils (depending on the system used), changing McPherson struts, tie rods, stabalizer links and very rarely lower control arms. I personally never felt overworked, even after a long day of repeatedly doing oil changes.

As a 4 year employee of midas I started as a service writer with the "promise" of a pay raise and promotion after 1 year as I came with 8 years of service advisor/writer experience. This carrot of raise and promotion was dangled in front of me for 2 years and was only offered after my search for other work. I foolishly stayed loyal to Midas a company that clearly does not care about its employees. I then recieved a matching pay to the offer I was given by another company. With this came shop management which I excelled at bring profits up immensely only to be let go and have my position filled by a new employee while I was told I would be returning to work after the "needed" lay off. This needed lay off was due to Midas as a whole being bad with its accounts and not being able to properly settle their accounts at month end. This is by far the worst automotive station I have ever been at I'm my 15 year career

Fairly average auto shop I happened to work at a franchise not a corporate shop  working for a franchise was nice I didn't feel like just another number on a page management genuinely cares however like most shops the senior staff can be rather arrogant at times that being said Midas as a corporation does several things I don't agree with such as courtesy inspections on literally everything that comes through the door and they do things that have nothing to do with fixing cars but still not right in my mind such as forcing ridiculous customer discounts such as $29.99 oil changes unto shops and obscene franchise royalty demands however the employee discount on parts and tires as well as flexible vacation and time off and new state of the art shop equipment made the employment here very tolerable

What is the best part of working at the company?
Organized system, which helps both parties to achieve their goals in hand. This process helps maintain a strong and stable environment which is also recognized by the customer. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part of the job is brought on by miscommunication and failure to follow company procedures. Company procedures are there to prevent  stressful situations because they have been designed and implemented by experienced staff. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
This work environment is goal oriented 
family cultured environment, or so we try. 
Any other will not be tolerated or entertained in any manner. You will quickly learn that working as a team is the only way to achieve your goals and objectives.

Starting at 7.45 most days and work to 6pm saturday from 7.45 to 3 .Hard part of my  job is doing many things at once sometimes it gets overwhelming in regards to many  things  but you have to do whats best for the company i get that no problem .. Most of the time i like  keep the peace and solve problems to to keep things calm and try to be in order sometime that dosn't  always  work . I get along  and work  well  with all staff members ,  there is good days and  bad days . I have learned alout over the last 30 years and don't mind sharing my knowledge and my tools . As far as management they have a job to do and i work my best to work with them not against they can always come to me and lean on me with a problem and  know that i will give 110 %   that what  makes companies move forward that is the most important thing  to me these days.Overall i liked where i was and what i was doing  life was good

What is the best part of working at the company?
The technicians are very good and qualified but the service advisor is under great stress

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Service Advisor is under stress because he has to orders parts keep up with the customer commitments and he is doing all this alone and cannot take his decision on his own. Plus there is lack of support from the manager. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Working environment is good there is support from the technicians. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Satisfactory. If there are no wrong parts ordered and everything is done correctly and at time. There is customer satisfaction

Things were great until code red. Then everyone started getting laid off or fired in order to save money for the owner. Every day we come to work afraid that the store will close because the owner and upper management refuse to advertise properly to bring more business in then blames the technicians and counter staff when profits are down. Benefits have been slashed and major pay cuts have caused technicians to start quitting on the spot. We're all tired of being pushed around but we're too afraid to leave something that still pays better than EI.

If your planning on apply to a Midas don’t very stressful work environment they only care about how many cars they can get in and out like a McDonald’s, they rip customers off and treat there employees like garbage. They give anyone a title of authority even if they no experience or education, the pay sucks and promises after promises! If you feel like you want to work at your own pace find another place to apply to if you can work fast and your good go flat rate never go to a Midas they will push and push and under pay you and kick you to the curb when there done with you

Favoritism is definitely a player at this shop. Owner is an alright guy when you first start and promises the world to you. After a while you get a raise to $15/hr and stay there unless you prove yourself by meeting absolutely unrealistic expectations. Promised again advancement out of the lube bay but have yet to see it after a few years. Store is all about sales sales sales and pushes techs to do "greasy" things to create a sale and charge the customer more for something they don't need and lash out if you don't sell. 

Over worked and under paid, all the shop equipment are old and broken, nothing good happened ever since i started this job. You won’t get your apprentice wage here and i’m not even sure if that is legal. was promised things but never fell through. They expect you to be mobile and move from shop to shop and not pay for your gas/mileage on your car. They also don’t pay for the time in between travelling from shop to shop. I could go on for days with bad things at this place, i highly recommend to stay away from here
