MIDDLE BEACH LODGE

This company couldn't keep on top of anything from day one, i should have seen the red flags. 

They missed my interview the first time and begged for another one. We then eventually spoke through a zoom meeting and it went well. they seemed young and down to earth and very accomodating. Unfortunately this wouldn't be true

Once me and my partner had arrived both ready for work, My partner had been called in for an induction meeting to see the place etc. Instead i was cut for the day told there wasn't any time for orientation. Then after 2 days with no additional information I had to go in myself and speak with management directly to even organise what day i would start work, what time. I had ABSOLUTELY NO INFORMATION.

Upon training I found that most of management had a very negative attitude towards me and my partner. For what reason we do not know, we tried to socialise, to express our interest in growth in the company and was only met with dismissive comments and gaslighting. 

I highly recommend no one get involved with this company as it is run terrible, by kids under 25 who have no real experience, and no morals. Personally I would never wish this upon anyone don't trust middle beach lodge.




I couldn’t say better things about middle beach lodge. The management cares and is also relaxed and fun. The job is high paced and sometimes stressful but the team is amazing and really works hard together. The staff accommodation was my favourite part. It is the best staff accommodation and biggest in Tofino I promise you. We know how to have fun and we all became one big family by the end of the season. I am forever in love with this place and I feel so lucky that I even got to experience this. Please apply this place will change your life. 

Shifts are a mix of day shifts and evenings at both lodges on property. Typical tasks including checking in and out guests, making reservations for guests, dealing with guest inquiries, basic upkeep of front desk area and answering the phone. Super fitting job for those who enjoy working with people, as you meet coworkers and guests from all over! There is high turnover, but with Tofino being a resort town this is expected. The staff accom is quite lovely honestly. There was a reputation of MBL staff accom being a huge party place, but not as much anymore. We still have tons of fun, but partying is kept at a respectable level in my opinion. Also super cheap staff accommodation, not many places are this cheap to live in Tofino (trust me!). The pay for the job itself isn't great unfortunately. Overall, I have enjoyed my time working here and if you are looking for a fun, new job experience I would recommend! 

Working at Middle Beach Lodge is a unique and rewarding experience that I highly recommend. I genuinely enjoy my role as a breakfast attendant, and the staff accommodation is affordable while providing everything you need to live comfortably in Tofino.

That said, I believe there’s room for improvement in terms of employee compensation and benefits. While I understand that the high turnover rate—largely due to people wanting to experience Tofino for a short period—makes it challenging to offer higher wages and full benefits to everyone, I think it would be valuable to implement incentives for long-term staff. Offering increased pay and benefits to employees who demonstrate commitment and longevity could help retain hardworking team members and build a stronger, more consistent workforce.

One of the toughest places I had to endure in a long time. 
Leads (supervisors) are chosen based on who was there the longest and given no secodary training and rely solely on experience, and it shows.
I lived with some of my leads in staff accom, and endured months of harassment, which went ignored from management whenever I reported the unprofessional behavior. Unfortunately, I was verbally harassed through my door at staff accom during my last days, one last time by the same lead.
The job advertises full-time hours, but would be lucky to get six hours in a day, most days. Lowest wages in the area.
This place definitely has potential for excellence, but falls short when it comes to attitude among the leaders. Standards of profesionallism, ethics, and training need to be improved.

Working at Middle gives you the amazing opportunity to work and live right on the beach in Tofino. Everyone who works here is a like minded individual and all the staff become like family. Sometimes the lodge can feel a little bit disorganized but for the most part the benefit of affordable staff accom, prime location, flexibility with shifts, and working with kind funny individuals makes working here worth it. Best job I have had in years and loved it so much I had to come back for a second Summer.

I applied to a handful of places in Tofino. I really lucked out with Middle Beach Lodge. Unlike other hotels in the area, Middle Beach Lodge is nestled comfortably on it's own wooded, beachfront property.  The walk to work is serene and I really do enjoy being at work because the hotel itself feels very calm and inviting. Perks! There is always free coffee and tea and almost always leftover baked goods from the kitchen/dining room next door from the housekeeping office. You have access to the private hotel gym as long as a guest isn't using it. Free staff yoga every week. Discounts for family and friends if they come visit. You'll get a free one-night stay after six months plus if you get employee of the month. Every supervisor in the housekeeping department is great and have made the work enjoyable. Great staff in a great place!

I love Middle Beach! I have been an employee at Middle Beach Lodge on and off since 2018. Any time I leave I can't help by find myself making my way back to this beautiful spot! I have met some of my closest friends and people I now consider family, learned and experienced so much through my job and around this cute and cozy town. 
I started in 2018 as a Breakfast Attendant working my way through Bar Tender to Food and Beverage Managaer. I now am employed as the Booking Coordinator for the Lodge and would gladly stay for years. You meet so many interesting people whether it be interesting guests from the other side of the world to your coworkers, never a dull day here.

I had a great time working here. If you’re looking to explore nature, and make some strong relationships this is the perfect place for you. The management style here is relaxed while still staying professional and efficient. The staff accommodation has a strong sense of community and is a very accepting and friendly place. Unfortunately while I was working here I did not manage to make enough money to properly live on, but that was mainly due to working in the off season for the lodge. If you were to work in the late spring and summer you would definitely make a fair wage. Overall, if you want an adventure and to work in a beautiful place then I would highly recommend applying! 

Middle Beach Lodge was supposed to only be a 6 month pit stop for me after finishing university, however ended up being the place I would build my career. 

Resorts in Tofino can get a lot of flack from disgruntled employees who don’t want to do the job they applied for, however if you show up with any sense of work ethic and the ability to separate work and personal life you’ll succeed. 

Wages are a bit lower than the average in Tofino as a result of affordable staff housing and bonuses are given at the end of contract for doing the bare minimum of your job. Raises are administered three times within your first year.
