A typical day at work would begin with me opening up the CSA Certified laboratory and setting up all the QA and QC testing equipment and documents necessary to conduct daily testing procedures. I would conduct an inventory and communicate any discrepancies with the senior staff in order to maintain effecient lab functionality. During the day I field work requests for future QA and QC field testing and work with my supervisor to effectively schedule technicians, while minimizing idle time. One of the hardest and rewarding parts of my job would have to be the need to think fast and prioritize jobs in order to meet client demands, sometimes with as little as 2 hours notice. Once a week I performance equipment maintenance and schedule external maintenance services if necessary. I am responsible for monitoring the lab technicians and ensuring testing procedures are followed accurately with great attention to safety and detail. At the end of the day after the lab technicians have completed all of their assigned tasks, I conduct a final evaluation of the laboratory in order to ensure all equipment, chemicals and supplies are stored safety according to CSA Standards.

Inspection of construction work (rebar, formwork, excavation, piling, caissons, shoring work) for quality verification, Quality control testing of concrete and soil compaction in the field, Laboratory testing of concrete, aggregates and asphalt

This company will charge employees one hour for lunch time for technicians to work at field even though they don't time to take lunch at site. This company also charges certificate fee for those technicians who don't have CCIL certificate.

I worked as a field technician for a summer job when i was attending Seneca College. I learned a lot from training, performing the job itself, and observing in the field. Appreciate was giving that opportunity to learn out of class.

Good Place to work and gain initial experience on MTO, MOE Projects. Don't need way too many experience to get a job. Friendly staff and educated staff.

My typical day at work is busy.
I learn a lot about construction industry and safety.
Commute is the hardest part of the job. Sometimes, it takes two hours to travel to office.
Good Company,Friendly co workers.

Management style is south asian. Not canadian.. But the experience gained is good for us to go up  on the ladder. Not bad. But management could have handled the relationship with employees in a proper manner

Dont expect much from the job.  Involves lots of physical work. Need to carry weights. Company doesnt care much about the workers. You wont get any benefits other than low salary.

Sometimes it is good other times it gets busy. We could learn new things on the site everyday.  This company is good to get the site work experience as well as in the lab 

No benefits and no overtime seasonal work and not good salaries also not good millage less hours work not much travelling time given
