Archaic, disjointed and unprofessional are a few descriptors that quickly comes to mind.  For a company that has such an extensive history and global presence, growth within the company has not yet taken it's first steps.  Competition is all around and most would credit this to investing in aggressive technological growth, development labs, career development for the staff, incentivized 360 contribution/ cross knowledge sharing within the company and understanding their audience as these are unavoidable valued foundations.  This company have rather sidelined the former and instead targets servicing to sophisticated clientele who continuously look for something to give them an edge by using decade old technology and untrained staff.  It is, however, without a doubt, that there there are employees who are very adaptable, knowledgeable and understand true meaning of team work but few gets recognized for this if at all.  Perhaps with a few more years and rethinking their methods, this company can flourish like the leaders in the market.

Archaic and disjointed are a few descriptors that comes to mind.  Technology growth and career development go hand in hand and are crucial to anyone in any department at any level and neither exists within this company.  Most companies understand the need for this to create a stable foundation and willing to invest but MUFG seems to be starting their learning journey now.  For the duration there, I have seen many senior management reshuffled around as part of M&A but when staff chooses to do this for their career growth, this is somewhat looked down upon as inadequate.  Hard work, long hours and endless meetings are a norm in the industry and MUFG is not unaffected by this.  For some staff, this is not not a norm across departments and levels which sometimes make the environment feel unfair.

Management is unprofessional, lacks technical knowledge and provides minimal support to their staff. Salary and raises are low and don't even cover inflation. If you're lucky you will get a small bonus but usually the company hasn't met targets so won't pay out bonuses. Overtime is expected with no monetary compensation or time in lieu. High turnover in all departments. By the time someone is fully trained they leave the company. No respect for staff from management. Company claims they are growing and that employees can advance but promotions are not based on merit rather on if you are friends with your boss. Nepotism is predominant. No praise from management instead they focus on the negatives. Management will bury you under the bus in order to save their own skin. People are over worked and under paid with zero appreciation.

My good portion of my job on a day to day basis is pointless, and yet, I'm stuck constantly working unpaid overtime almost everyday just to calculate some numbers that the client already has and expects. Every minute of the day seems to be packed full of menial work which just feels more like busywork than actually accomplishing anything. 

Management is also quite young and inexperienced. They do not know how to properly manage a team or how to handle clients. They are yes men and will say yes to everything even if we don't have the capacity to do it. 

Pay is also way too low for the workload. They're starting pay is essentially what I consider minimum wage for an office environment ($50k/yr), and when calculated into an hourly rate, it is still below the most recently calculated living wage for Halifax. 

The MUFG location in Waterloo was a good place to work until the company decided that they no longer wanted 4 offices in Canada (for good reason I suppose).   The morale at this location has steadily gone down as more and more staff leave or are transitioned out.    I question some of the management decisions that have been made.   They seem to be short-sighted and only concerned with the bottom line.   I think some of the other offices might be better off.

Good company for me since I have a very nice boss who cares about my career development. focus more on global. Because they want to cut cost and actively hiring people in Canada.
But benefits below average(bonus and health insurance).

Depends upon your role. People are particular about their money (big traders/banks) so keeping on top of systems 24X7 can be demanding

Worked remotely, but can say if you fulfill your area of responsibility things go smoothly

Monitor systems, manage changes, communicate clearly

Company restructure - which includes new management, new systems - mostly from UBS merger- wasn't not properly plan. The transition seems to be chaotic. No trainings provided to support the transition

Technology systems are way behind than other companies in the same industry.

Zero work life balance.  Overall team morale is low with constant turnover. Staff is overworked with too many deadlines and too many projects handled with poor execution. Management does not trust their own employees, mangers bully/sabotage other managers to adavnce, and staff is constantly belittled creating a toxic environment.  Most managers here do not know how to manage people period.  They do not have the skill sets to drive, build, and motivate their team.

Working as a fund accountant at MUFG provided an ok employment experience. The company offers a collaborative environment and opportunities for professional growth. The role itself involves various tasks such as daily NAV calculations and financial reporting, which contribute to a comprehensive understanding of fund accounting processes. MUFG also emphasizes work-life balance, ensuring a manageable workload. However, there were occasional challenges with workload fluctuations and communication within teams.
