A typical day would be trying to motivate 19 welders, 2 cleaners to meet min production numbers. Check computers for the previous shift numbers were entered properly into the system, if I was unsure count back from the paint line to the stations where the product is being produced. Make sure work orders are in sequence, periodically  check on the product (weld quality/measurements/weld sequence). During the course of the day, documenting parts that need to be replenished for the next shift coming in. I would have to deal with supervision, if product is ending  out of tolerance in final assembly. Getting the right personnel to make necessary repairs to product, get it on the paint line as quick as possible.  Making sure parts are replenished prior to the end of the shift, On occasions I would have to deal with an ill-tempered welders or cleaners. 
I learned how to motivate people, deal with people with different mood swings on a daily basis. I learned how build and weld many different components for tractor/header/swather product in a production environment. 
The management team was great to work with, we worked well together. Every place, has their ups and downs.
Co-workers were great, the helped out me out quite a bit when I first got into the management position.
The hardest part of the job was never the product, it was the shift coming after, their attitude was not to get the product out (red tag it and let them deal with it when they get in). It happened to me a few times for over sized welds, that's where I was different. If I come in, see something is wrong, I would get the welder working in that station to correct the problem before his production day begins. It's an endless game between the shifts, it was unproductive and pointless.
The most enjoyable thing about this job was, it was in a shop. Majority of the people were polite and friendly, the shop was a safe place to work.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Weekly payment:most company pay their employee bi-weekly which is okay but what I enjoyed most is weekly payment.i will be glad to say more if I experience differently in the future.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The most stressful part of the company is assembly supervisors:they just want employee to get work done half of the time assigned to each herders.meanwhile,the company has its own time for each herder,so they need make amendments in other for employees not to always get hurt.most injuries occurs in assembly due to the fact that most employees want to get work done half of the time assigned to each herder.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Diversity:I give kudos to the management in terms of diversity,the company really tried.This can better explained by citing blacks in every departments

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
The company is lively:it’s come to my knowledge that most company remover 30 minutes break from employees payment but in assembly we got our payment full without deduction of 30 minutes.

Work started at 7:00 a.m. initially meeting with superior and the team members. The days was a busy one beating the target quantity and quality of finished agricultural tractors. There were amazing industrial relations and harmony at work. The management of MacDon were all supportive of its team members ( employees ). The hardest part of the job was when i was assigned in Fabrication and  Welding Department doing shifting schedule, but after i had my adjustment period in shifting, everything went well. The most enjoyable part of the job was when you hit your target quantity for the day and there was no red tags. And the superiors and co-workers are all working hand in hand..that made work easier and lighter. The learnings that i have in Macdon is to value your work whatever it is ( i am a manager in my country ) and to welcome all opportunities because all work are good regardless of the job title.

With MacDon one of the most amazing things about it is that the help desk staff are not confined to one specific task. This allows for continuously learning new skills and working with different IT departments to resolve issues both inside and outside of help desk's scope.

A typical day in the help desk department can range from delivering support through telephone, email, remote support or desk-side visits to anything such as but not limited to: Troubleshooting user problems relating to operating system issues, Network Connectivity, TCP/IP configuration, Microsoft Office, iPhones, JDE, Internet connectivity, connecting network jacks to patch panels, providing in-depth technical support to Fortigate VPN  software clients.

There was so much more to learn and the most enjoyable part of the job is hard to decided between the actual job or the team that I was working with.

I can't speak to the shop floor or warehouse jobs but the fact that most people I meet from the floor have been with the company for over a decade speaks for itself.

I've worked in the office environment which has been rewarding. Turnover is low and the benefits are pretty insane. 8.5% RRSP contribution and 100% health benefits coverage. Christmas bonuses are provided and have been as high as 220 hrs and as low as 40-60 (technically they are not guaranteed). 2-week vacation to start but they always ensure that you get at least 1 week at Christmas over and above the two weeks, 

Overtime is paid (as it legally should) but office staff are not pushed harder than they should and morale is high as a result.

Wages are average to maybe low but you must consider the benefits/bonus/pension when they give you an offer.

The current and upcoming leadership is very promising and future growth and opportunities are expected.



Great place to work under the MacDonald family.  Awful under Linamar management.  Very few managers have experience in the field they manage from VPs down to foreman level.  This results in problems not being resolved.  Most of the time management solutions make the problem worse or create more problems as they don’t understand the job function.  This is happening in almost every department.  

This place is without a doubt the worst managed company I have worked for.   Every department is a mess.

Little to no chance of career growth.   Your manager will not be able to mentor or guide you and people who are good at their jobs and have the respect of their peers are constantly looked over for promotion.   This creates a bitter/resentful/toxic work culture.  No one cares about doing a good job any more.

What is the best part of working at the company?
the best thing about the job is that the company policy makes a quality product. and you enjoy it. because the employer does not rush you, like in Poland for example (I have experience there)

The most stressful thing is that you can be laid off at any moment, and of course you are afraid of it. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
The work environment is very positive, I loved this job. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
The morning begins with a meeting with all your colleagues and already formed friends. The manager tells the plan for the shift. We do not work too hard, everything goes smoothly.

While the variety & challenge of design work was there, salary was abysmal.
The benefits somewhat make up for it, but other companies have caught up & if you're young & single, benefits aren't top priority.

While most depts are filled with good people, mgmt is extremely poor in that they promote poorly & the ones at the top are old school mentality of creating a climate of job security fear.
Chasms of ideologies exist between mgrs & depts with the production side being the worst...filled with self serving individuals with poor mgmt skills that have clearly reached their 'Peter principles' a couple promotions ago.

If you're an intelligent engineer, you'd be better served to find a modern workplace culture with good managers where you can grow.

Having the most seniority but getting no rewards/benefits from it. Seeing management change the rules for different people, building, areas, etc…

Not great. Lots get thrown under the carpet. (Safety, procedures, quality,)

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Come in and do your job. Count the eight hours down. And watch the business fail because to many people/things don’t follow the rules. Try your hardest to ignore the different rules for different people.

I have learned and improved a lot of things working in a good company like MacDon and one of them is my communication skills working in different human race. I also improved my skills in reading welding blueprints, GD&T symbols and some drawings/codes. I have learned how to manage my time, planning and organizing working in assembly line. There is no difficult or hard job if we work hard, helping each other, sharing ideas and work as a team. I proved that I can work with less supervision using my knowledge, creativeness and being resourceful. I enjoyed most of the time working in MacDon because I am friendly, responsible, kind and helpful person.
