Working at Mackenzie was such an amazing environment to be apart of and i'm very grateful for my time spent there!! Everyone was amazing- to the nurses , doctors, psw's ...the whole multidisciplinary team. I admired the fact that everyone took so much pride in their work , and nurses took pride in their patients. 

I learned so much from the director of care and my supervising nurse on the unit. I believe i became a much better nurse because of Mackenzie health. Everyday i learned something new , everyday was a learning process for me. I want to thank the whole staff for that. Even the personal Support workers helped me out when in need! The team work skills were amazing on that unit and I became a much better team player because of my experience there.

The most enjoyable part of the job for me would be the residents on the unit!! I developed many positive relationships with my patients due to effective therapeutic skills and building that trust-especially by having patience with them. I miss all my patients dearly. 

I definitely enjoyed going to work at Mackenzie health! Not only because I love being a nurse, but because I developed many positive relationships there and the Environment was an amazing unit to be apart of. 

I became a better nurse and person while working at Mackenzie health. I grew and matured so much into the nurse that I wanted to become because of Mackenzie - and to this day, I'm still very grateful for that experience.

Used to work with the elderly, palliative, and mentally challenged clients in the home health, retirement home and long-term care environments such as in the Long Term Care Facility at the Mackenzie Health, Richmond Hill, ON; in the Toronto Community Centre at the St. Christopher House; at the Brookside Court & Hilltop Place retirement residences; at the Saint Elizabeth Health Care. 
Experienced in providing companionship, administering bedside and personal care, aiding clients with bathing, preparing, cooking, feeding and serving meals, shopping for food and household supplies, providing personal care, assisting clients to walk, taking clients to appointment, and other aspects of personal hygiene. 
Completed the Personal Support Worker certificate program through Richmond Hill Community Center. 
Obtained certificates in First-Aid and CPR- HCP. 
Demonstrated my ability to work independently and also as a contributing member of a health care team, including but not exclusive to working with fellow personal support workers, nurses and physicians, all while providing the highest possible level of patient care. 
Work independently and collaborated with interdisciplinary team.
Willing to work anytime.

Leadership consists of inexperienced and toxic bullies who only care for personal status and recognition. Patient care is at risk because of poor decisions. People overstepping their boundaries of influence. It's frightening to see what is happening in the name of innovation. Wrong people performing wrong jobs.  Staff morale and satisfaction is at all time low when leadership uses its authority to manipulate, lie and play favorites for personal gain. People penalized for complaining.  No integrity.  No understanding of teamwork and socially acceptable human interactions.  Blind to the dangers they have brought on. Will  knock the little guy down to make themselves look big. They just dont care! It was once getting better and now it's a toxic dangerous mess.  The hospital is destroying it's people in the name of recognition and innovation. Hoping to see these bullies ousted and replaced with competent human leadership that values all walks of frontline workers and isn't afraid to roll up its sleeves to get into the weeds to understand what they are supposed to be leading and supporting.

Two sides in IT here, Applications and Support. Both camps tend to have their own battles at times and a lot of finger pointing with the Management and Directors who are seem to argue all the time,  The IT managers try to keep it civil in the end as they work it out eventually .

Unfortunately in the last 4 years there has been a trend to get rid of the older staff (10+ years) who have worked here to replaced  with newer staff or converted contractors. (I really don't know how legal this is, under "restructuring"). Today all but one is left who walks around with a coffee trying to fly under the radar and stays low.

There is also a trend to hire more Asians in the dept or it seems like when I left.Not sure if that is mandated form top or from managers.

Workplace culture is fast paced 24/7 hospital so you can get called anytime.

Enjoyable part of the job is the staff that work here who make all the issues and problems disappear and work as a team. I wish upper management saw how this is done and pull together given the conditions.

Hardest Part of the job is keeping the doctors and directors happy and trying to keep outdated technology running without break downs.
Other perks would be nice retirement package and medical dental plans.

A typical day at work included serving breakfast to children in the morning, allowing children to learn through play, set up activities which I created in a creative and eye-catching way for children to do, read to the children, serve healthy snacks and lunch for children after washing their hands, maintain a clean environment, help children who have trouble falling asleep during nap time to sleep, and most importantly supervising the children. 
I learned many things while working at the child care centre. I learned about individual children and based my activities on their developmental stages and interests. I learned how to work with other teachers in maintaining a harmonious learning environment for the children and making sure our teaching methods do not clash and confuse the children. 
The hardest part of the job was dealing with children fighting with each other and assisting them in working out their problem. Over time this became easier with more experience. 
The most enjoyable part of the job was watching the children enjoy the activities I created for them.

Working at Mackenzie was such an amazing environment to be apart of and i'm very grateful for my time spent there. It taught me a lot about the Human Resource Department. I was exposed to every little thing starting from Recruitments, Compensation and Benefits, Negotiations - Employee Relations and Labor Management, and Organizational and Learning Development. 

The most enjoyable part was to formulate performance reviews, and also to talk to various employees from the different sectors of the Hospital; help them with their HR needs, and answer their queries.

I definitely enjoyed going to work at Mackenzie Health. Not only because I love being in the Human Resource Department, but because I developed many positive relationships there and the environment was an amazing unit to be apart of.

Pharmacy management and senior leaders do not support staff  They lack experience in doing the actual work, and are great smooth talkers. They speak of engagement but lacks action. Instead they are always ready to point the blame on staff when there is a mistake, despite staff that work very hard and who go above and beyond.  Senior management paints a very different picture of the processes when in fact, it’s flawed with mistakes and an accident waiting to happen.  There are staff who have their contracts renewed for many years, and yet will never get a full time position because the hospital tries to cut costs. There is no reward for hard work!  They could have the best Hospital software and technology in the world, but if they don’t Support staff how can the hospital staff provide a “world class healthcare experience” which is their vision.

unfortunately, my experience was quite negative.  Two of the managers I worked for were particularly toxic, displaying favoritism and immature behavior that affected team morale.  The work environment was toxic, with frequent negativity and lack of teamwork. There was little to no flexibility in work hours or remote work options, which created a challenging work-life balance. Additionally, the pay was notably below industry standards for the role and responsibilities. Overall, it was a frustrating experience that did not meet my professional or personal expectations.  I understand that matters have only gotten worse.  Several administrative staff go on stress leave.

A typical full day at work: Go to the main kitchen, get all the cold food items and things that you may need for the day (like milk, bread, etc) and take them to your kitchen in the LTC.  Put all the items away and start setting up the tables, change menus and set up dirty carts.  You also have to make two nourishment carts for each kitchen. 
Since i've joined there, have learn t a lot about how important temperatures play in the life of ready to eat food. the use of gloves - disposable and otherwise.

Just do your work with no expectations.  Also check your paystubs.  Based on my experience it never adds up.  I do not know if MH outsources the payroll department.  One of the most toxic working environments -- ever!  They never pay for OT and you have to fight tooth and nail to get it but they give you the more job responsibilities for the same pay.  Do not even bother with management -- they are clueless and my co-workers are the laziest that you will ever come across.  They do their minimum workload but complain about how underpaid they are.  Thankfully I left.  Lesson learned these are not the type of people that would seek to work with and not the corporate culture that would ever work for again.  Management feeds you $%#^ and keep everyone in the dark.
