Mackie Markham is the place to change office staff to improve work environment. less educated people become supervisor and managers. they only depend on temp staff to work done. 2 LOC managers/ 1 Managers/1 supervisor/ 3 lead hands/2 order management and 1 inventory analyst handling only 9 people working on floor. all office staff need to reshuffle and bring them to work on floor. all office staff compete each others while they do not have nothing to do and just play around on computers. right now someone from management person look into and make regular visit to see how is workload and according to that use them other locations. Markham need only good 5 hard working people to handle entire work load in case they can give layoff few people and save money. also increase pay for hard working floor persons only. i feel very stressed while working with those lazy people and it is the reason quit job

Too much responsibility not enough pay, excellent co workers, average management, horrible ownership, outdated equipment, has two 15 minute breaks and 30 lunch free to take them whenever but I found I was overloaded with work most of the time so I would not take any breaks and just work through the entire day otherwise I would end up staying late to ensure things are done for the morning. they run on a skeleton crew in the warehouse so a lot of responsibility was dumped on me. managers don't really do much they just sit at the desk and do things on their phone rarely come down to departments at the back of the warehouse to see if everything is going alright meanwhile they have people slugging around 500 pound appliances with barely any supervision especially at night when they have only 1 person working in the appliance department.

I worked as a helper for a number of years. At first its a really tough job if you've never done it before. the co-workers can be really hard on you, as well as the work, and hours. some days can be a 4 hour minimum, where some can be as long as 16 hours. some jobs can be light and some jobs can be heavy, some boring, some fun. the list goes on and on. its very interesting to see what challenges await you everyday. and once you've proved yourself as part of the team who can hold their own and know what you're doing, you get the benefits of new friends, seniority in job selection and off-days. the benefits where pretty good too, dental 100% everything else is from 40%-75% or better.

For a new commercial division it was an awesome summer/fall. Sadly when winter came the hours left. 

It can be tough to get the office on the line when a problem arises in the field after hours but apart from that, management is pretty cool.

Coworkers are your usual run of the mill movers. 

This company offers benefits to their employees which is unheard of considering I've worked with other moving companies before. They are also unionized. 

Salesmen seem to think they are supervisors though and need to realize there are supervisors for that role. 

I'd recommend this to someone looking for a part time or a summer job. Heck, I'd even go back for a second round.

Not a bad company...made some"interesting" decisions about the future direction of the company that baffled me. I was there for 16 years..so it couldn't be all bad.The company decided to separate the various divisions, which affected the management structure and ultimately several company policies which led me to believe that my future was no longer with that company.On the upside, the Mackie family are pretty decent folks,and ,while I may not respect some of his decisions, the owner of the HHG division was there on my last day to shake my hand and wish me luck.

Mackie Moving Markham Management need to review manpower on the floor. Lots of double job people working here and those are very lazy always depend on newly hire temps. Manager and supervisor have friendship with all lazy people so always depend on newly hire temps for work. need to reshuffle management structure for Markham location. need to evaluate each higher position and pull them out on floor to reduce work load. few bad people need let them layoffs. Many people asking management for layoff but somehow management not give them layoffs which is big concern to work on floor. need quick action right now.

The management was horrible and didn't care about employees. Equipment was always breaking down. I would not recommend this company. There are many other companies that will treat and pay you better out there.
They hire bad people because they don't care about how they do or interact with others. Lots of turnover there also, so it's hard to get a good base of employees. Anyone that's any good goes somewhere else to work and make more money.
Management only cares about bottom line and they provide little to no support when it comes to things that would make work better for the employees.

The people and the teamwork. Very cooperative environment. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
It's a very high paced environment.  Always something happening. Such is the nature of the transportation industry. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Love it. The coworkers are friendly. The environment is supportive. Teamwork makes the dream work. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
A typical day is busy. Lot's of emails. A few good laughs. Good coffee.

This is a challenging place to work. Work load is unfair they continuously dump more and more on you with no increase in pay and then they criticize you for having a hard time keeping up with the work load. There solution is to let you go.  

If you are not in the in crowd watch your back. The management is not helpful they are the ones creating the negative atmosphere. Management is not supportive or helpful. After they let you go don't expect them to help you with references. They refuse to provide references to help in you obtaining a new job. 

They hire people to "clean up" then once you do they fire you. When I first got hired it was actually a fun place to work for, then the workplace started getting toxic. They started firing people and not hiring to replace so that means double the work load. I had an amazing boss, but once he "cleaned up the place" he was fired as well. We had a great team with a full office, now there aren't many days the office is full, guys don't have work everyday. They lost most of the contracts once they got rid of the good people, don't waste your time.
