If you work midnight shift, you get nothing but work shortages, unfair treatment, and complete disregard. The company only cares to give non-stop overtime to days and afternoons whilst giving workshortages to midnights, we have enough staff to run all assembly lines on midnights, but the company would rather just run them as overtime. There's times where we'll be running lines, and day shift will come in and kick us off of those lines "So that we can have overtime". In which is not needed as we were fully staffed and running those lines, like what the..... So then we're scrambling to find out where to put our operators and even sending some home; that's right, we send our operators home so that dayshift can run overtime for no reason.

    There's been a few times where full-midnights had a complete workshortage on a sunday night, and I came in on the weekend to see, and days and afternoons are doing an overtime saturday+ double time sunday.


      If you need any kind of request or paperwork done, or even some sort of action taken care of... Days and afternoons are a priority. Midnights get nothing but the worste end of the stick, we get lied to, mis-lead, deception, and complete dis-regard as if we're a hassle to them, I'm not even kidding when I say this next part, but day shift will walk in your way and even into you without acknowledging that they bumped you, they straight up think midnights are trash, not to mention they treat us that way.

     Then you've been lied to just like I was. Then again, the temp agencies can only tell us what they're provided with by the employer, however my paycheck is such a pathetic joke, that I had to get a full time day job to catch up on bills/rent.

This review is strictly true and doesn't mean that ALL of MAGNA is like this, but however the specific division that I work for (Dortec Inustries, Newmarket, Ontario) operates this way.

I worked here for a year as a temp. Was on full time with a regular shift. Was told I had to go to the recent job fair to apply for a job. Went in, stood in line with the thirty or so others...10 other temps and 20 walk ins..we all did the same test I had to do to get the job here as a temp..a year ago...then I went into the interview. I was asked 5 questions. 2 were: 
1. What do I think makes a good employee?
2. Am I able to work 40 hrs/week?
After 1 year of employment, neither of these questions should have been asked by a serious professional to an employee. If I knew as little of my job as they did of me after one year. I would have been walked out the door.

I will never return.

 If you need a job, have a few skills and are looking for something entry level to gain factory experience. This is an ok choice. If you are looking for long term, no way. 
Don't get me wrong, if you are applying for a job that is full time with benefits etc and get it. Go for it. The job is good. If they offer you a contract position, do not take it, unless of the above reason or desperation (gotta eat).
Contracts are just extensions of your 3 month first hire period. No benefits and no job security at reduced pay compared to full time people. This contract currently sits as lasting 6 months and can be renewed a maximum of 4 times (2 years). No benefits, no raises. You do get 10 paid vacation days. But are warned about missing days during this period. Just a reminder, take your vitamins..6 month contracts that will be renewed at least once, maybe 4 times. If you don't think so, think of the money savings on keeping you on these contracts. Think of all the times you can train a replacement. 
Floor management was hands down top notch. Great guys that know their stuff. Helpful and as long as you work, are not up your ***. 
The people I met involved in the employment process, were unprofessional and working a system really shady.

Extremely busy place to work at. The work days are full of plenty of tasks to do, non-stop, it is a fast paced environment. You only get a half hour (unpaid) lunch break, which they will watch you if you go past that time. If you go past that time they let you know immediately, then they let management know as well.

There is a lot of favoritism, especially the management. Rotating shifts means its hard to plan events with friends and family. Be prepared to work overtime because, it is required. They don't care about safety, unless they like you. I saw a forklift driver almost run over a pedestrian, right in front of a supervisor. He got no discipline or a warning because he was good friends with that supervisor. If they don't like you, they will watch you until you make a mistake, which they report to management immediately. If they like you, then you can get away with anything even taking extended lunch breaks. If they catch you standing around doing nothing, they'll yell at you in front of everyone, to find something to do.

When you ask for time off, they might give it to you or not. There is nothing enjoyable about this job, besides punching out at the end of a shift. Be prepared to work on your feet all day with a few breaks. Magna International benefits will only pay 50% of your dental coverage. This place is non-unionized, so be prepared to work for peanuts. The management doesn't want to help you move up in the company, unless you put in an extreme amount of overtime. You have to literally work 7 days a week and any or all shifts to move up in the company. The worst job I've ever had in my entire life.

Deco employs many processes and technologies and I have learned a tremendous amount over the course of my employment and still continue to learn. I was exposed to many different manufacturing technologies that I have read about before but I had the opportunity to work intimately with hydroforming, large-scale MIG welding, aluminum assembly, CNC machining and aluminum extrusions. My background is in lean manufacturing and employing lean solutions to this environment certainly has its challenges but it continues to show me how applicable lean is in any environment. 
my coworkers are fantastic hard-working, intelligent people that make going to work enjoyable. They are an absolute pleasure to work with and I value their ideas and input and can count on them for support as they can rely on me. 
Deco's management team has been struggling since I was hired on and it can't seem to find stability. Our corporate officers have replaced a number of the managers over the last year including senior leadership and the direction of the division is still undefined and clouded. Deco is a tough environment to work in so I can empathize but I do not see the division getting the investment it needs to remain competitive.

For the most part it is a good place to work for. Management is excellent and skilled in what they do and how they operate. On the other hand, supervisors on the afternoon shift treat operators, line leaders and forklift drivers like garbage. They do not provide the proper training and are very  rude and disrespectful. Always sitting behind computer desk doing nothing and giving orders to workers without proper training. Also constantly giving incorrect instructions to workers and yelling and being disrespectful and cannot take responsibility for their actions but instead blaming other people. Very toxic environment, and no room to grow. Secondly, the supervisors do not have any knowledge about the production lines and put pressure on operators and line leaders without providing them with the proper training in order to complete job. They are constantly giving workers the cold shoulder and disregarding complaints or anything you say to them. Also, if the supervisor doesn’t like you for no valid reason he will do anything he can to get rid of you or sabotage you so you can be dismissed.
Mytox needs a new supervisor on the afternoon shift. On the other hand, day shift supervisors and midnight are awesome! 

over the 5-6 months, I've worked there as a material handling specialist. ive put in more than 900 hours of work and was let go two hours before my shift with excuses that did not make sense such as i was a dangerous driver but never had an inccendent or anything reported relating to dangerous driving but i was asked immediately to work for there another facility across the street which I said NO to.?.?. every day there was a new mess to deal with. they will abuse you and treat you like a slave until they realize that your beginning to understand the system and when you have a say, then they let you off...

the place is very fast-paced and dangerous. there were many reported injuries throughout my time there even one time having 3 people sent to the hospital in an 8-hour shift...

Some of the employees there are amazing to be around and the other who generally have been there for 10 years + are miserable and grumpy all the time and feel empowered because they have put their time in yet they are in the same position as you are... 

good place to make money because of the guaranteed hours and overtime but when you're a temp, your basically a slave for them until you get your benefits when they decide to give it to you...

Went in to work checked board to see which lines were running and where I would be that shift.Heavy Duty line was great,knowing how to do every job on the line meant being rotated every 2 hours.Therefore the night would go fast.We would meet with the shift supervisor and find out if there were any quality checks to watch closely for and they would tell us our standards that would have to met for that shift.The safety data sheets would have to be signed before running any machines. Sometimes I would have to train a new operator on a machine or different operation. Co-workers were not always the same
person.Worked as a team to train new people and make the production run smooth. It was difficult when there were new people came, alot of people were different nationalities there fore making it difficult to understand but it was a learning experience and very rewarding because alot of them were so greatful to be able to learn the proper way of doing things having the right teacher.Team leaders were happy with my way of training people the proper way. The most enjoyable part of the job was meeting new people meeting the standards and quota for the day. Made it all worth while

I was lucky enough to be able to land a job within Magna Auto Exteriors near the end of COVID, and it was a pretty solid job experience overall. After the interview and hands-on aptitude test, people who applied were immediately notified of their candidacy if hired. 

The training process was thorough and comprehensive, although nothing special.  The group of new hires, including myself, were brought to a plant office to receive training on how the factory cells/stations worked, how the assembly line operates, and how parts were to be inspected as to reduce waste and rejects. Very insightful.

The first day of the job and onwards, the cell leads will show you around the plant you work and have you do multiple tasks to see what you’re capable of doing. From there, you’ll be assigned a couple of stations throughout your time in the factory and help build parts to reach line quota. Rinse and repeat.

Overall, very good on-boarding and training process and the experience I had with my coworkers in the plant was very nice as well. The only complaint I would have is that the plant maintenance crew isn’t able to respond fast enough sometimes due to machines breaking down and causing the entire line to freeze up. 

Be prepared to potentially die on the job. The forklift drivers are massively rushed in their roles and because of this the fly around over loaded frequently hitting other humans and destroying unfortunate objects such as lights, etc. The biggest concern to the section supervisors is their safety record and not your actual safety. If for any reason you are Injured even for a reason no fault of your own be prepared to have the blamed laid 110% on you because of your incompetent for allowing yourself to be injured. I don’t mind sweeping either but be prepared to spend entire 8hr shifts sweeping the same 30 meters for multiple days on end but do not expect to be sent home because they can’t run as a tiny worthless cog you must stay and do nothing while their beloved full times slack off and do drugs around the work place speaking of drugs I hope you like cocaine  filled everything as 50% of the staff here have some form of hard drug habit and habitual use on the floor expect to work for the company for 10+ years before you are actually offered a full time position. this company has a horrifying name in ST Thomas consider yourself well warned.

Work afternoon shift time to start 3 pm arrive around 2.20pm exchange information with previous shift related to things still need to be done, breakdowns, housekeeping, etc , pick up daily schedule review cycle time of machines to calculated time of mould changes to be done once the daily requirements where already achive, post time of die changes to inform set up crew , material handler , material loader of time of die change , material to be used , packing containers, assignment operator to work station. produce first off inspect quality , dimensions , record data on instruction binder , produce labels , check parts quality every 2 hours , check cycle time
I learn how to work as a team , problems solving , think before you act , delegated tasks ,how to obtain positive results ,never give up.

Great co -workers during the years form a incredible formidable team capable of tackle anything.
No really hard times , due to excellent co - workers
Interact with people a different levels , learn something new every day , great sense of achiviment
