I started 5 weeks ago and have really enjoyed my time at Makloc. I plan to stay with the company.

Pros
-Competitive salary and benefits after 3 months
-Good management, thorough slow paced training
-In house HR, accounting, safety and IT so you have support at every level
-Office staff and weld shop get every 4th Friday off which is REALLY NICE for booking appointments and planning weekend trips!!!!!
-Office staff get off 30 minutes early on Fridays
-Lunch is provided 1 day per month during safety meeting
-Social club (hockey games, golf trips etc.)
-Shop crews are incentivized with prizes like cash and steak lunch for hard work and safety
-Safety is a #1 priority. In house safety officer and regular reporting/meetings
-This company really seems to care and welcomes feedback and suggestions from employees. Managements doors are always open at all levels and owners are at location regularly. They analyze strengths and place people where they are best suited
-I've heard we are booked solid through 2024 so high job security

Cons
-I don't love driving to Nisku but the route is not congested. I take Anthony Henday and it takes 25 minutes from Edgemont. I feel like in city driving is prone to more delays and congestion so I like that I can stay on the outskirts of town.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Working at Makloc has provided me with the opportunity to expand my knowledge across multiple areas of operations, documentation, and process improvement. The environment is fast-paced, and employees are given the opportunity to take initiative and contribute in meaningful ways.

The company offers exposure to a variety of responsibilities, which allows employees to continue learning and developing new skills. Team members are collaborative and willing to support one another when challenges arise.

As with many lean organizations, priorities can shift quickly and workloads can be demanding at times, but the experience has helped me grow professionally and strengthen my adaptability, organization, and problem-solving skills.

Coming to Makloc, I would be ensured that I would have exposure to real-world processes, between departments, while also developing professional communication and organizational skills. Another important opportunity is the mentorship here, and collaboration with experienced professionals. I believe Makloc has delivered that, and my experience so far has been very meaningful and positive.

The team has been very welcoming and supportive across all departments, and I've had opportunities to learn new skills, software, and gain hands-on experience in a professional environment. I truly appreciate the guidance by coworkers and managers, which has helped me grow technically and professionally. I truly appreciate the management, workplace culture, and team dynamic. Everyone is professional, humble, and approachable regardless of role or experience level, pushing you to work harder, and overall creating a comfortable and collaborative atmosphere

I feel like I’ve stepped back in time to an era where senior management rules with an iron fist and berates, Shames, intimidates employees in an attempt to get better production.  Tip... it doesn’t work!  At all!  Office moral is low, there is no feeing of team, very little respect to employees, not enough positive coaching & mentoring if you are new to the industry.  And if you’re an experienced professional who has been in the industry for a while  already The hall monitoring and mircomanagement (in extremely unproductive and inefficient ways) will be tough to put up with.  The amount of time and money wasted in meetings and tasks to appease uppers is not conducive to well managed projects.  And it is really evident that the mentally, treatment of employees and trying to save a buck in places that don’t matter is stifling this companies success and is almost unbearable to watch.

Makloc has treated me well for the past 5 years. The field and shop staff are truly wonderful people. They by far display the best safety culture and attitudes I have ever worked with. No company is perfect, but Makloc is truly looking for ways to improve, many changes have happened in the last 5 years, all positive, and for the better. I am very proud to have been apart of making some of these changes happen; they have always made me feel like my opinions matter and they are always open to new ideas. We have been creating more teambuilding activities now that we are past Covid and it has truly made a huge improvement on the overall work environment. I enjoy coming to work here with everyone, we have a great team!

A typical day at makloc, is coming to work excited to see your coworkers knowing that you’re part of the TEAM, and that you are all gonna finish the tasks/goals you made  for the day!
Management is great, you can definitely talk to them just about anything.!
Safety at makloc is definitely number 1 priority. 
In my opinion I wake up excited to go to work (which is rare) but at makloc it’s totally different it’s as if you're going to see your friends. To get some work done 

My time at makloc has unfortunately come to an end. As I have decided to take a different path for my career. 
I will always be grateful for the opportunities, knowledge, and  friends this company has  given me

Malkoc, is a overall great place to work.  They care greatly about your safety and they overall care about you as a person.  The benefits are top notch, they pay overtime and they give you time off if you need it.  they pay for training and they match you on RRsp contributions.  They reward people with a BEAM award monthly with a cash reward.  every year they give cash Christmas gift.  

MakLoc is a great place to work. While departments are a little smaller which can make for some intense crunch moments, it provides a work experience where all employees are connected to each department, and you get a much larger general knowledge of what goes in to the everyday work to make our buildings. I can honestly say that I've learned more about systems I never knew existed specifically because I work for MakLoc, and I'm better off for having learned them.

Awesome work life balance, very team orientated with a good mix of well experienced professionals and new workers to the trades. A good place to work if you want to learn or pass along knowledge and skills to upcoming trades people. Management is easy to work with, they encourage employee involvement in  continuos improvements. Alot of care for the well being of employees, safety culture is second to none.  Typical work day is pretty good, great teams to work with.

few years back I had some health problems and management was very understanding and actually wanted to still keep me on, but I didn't want to burden them any further than I already did - I can't remember how much time I took off but it had to be months. Always Thankful for that. The environment is very supportive and allows growth and culture. Great people to work for.
