Manning Park Resort

Working at Manning Park Resort as the head maintenance electrician was a stark lesson in disorganization, mismanagement, and a lack of basic respect for employees. The initial allure of working in such a beautiful setting quickly faded once I realized the conditions and treatment staff faced daily. 

From the start, I was given little to no guidance or resources to carry out my role effectively, often left scrambling to make do with outdated equipment and minimal support.

The Old Staff housing was a joke—moldy, poorly maintained, with unreliable heating that left people freezing in winter and sweltering in summer. Maintenance tasks often stretched far beyond the job description, with management expecting us to take on extra duties with zero appreciation or additional pay. Safety standards were questionable at best, and concerns raised were typically brushed aside.

The work culture itself was toxic. Management would frequently flip-flop on decisions, creating a stressful and unpredictable environment. Promises of job stability and progression turned out to be hollow; it felt like they saw staff as disposable. 

My departure was handled with shocking disregard—I was fired without warning or explanation, given only 24 hours to pack up and leave. This level of disrespect and lack of communication left me and many others feeling devalued and utterly expendable.

If you’re considering working here, be prepared for constant frustration, low morale, and a revolving door of staff. Manning Park Resort may be beautiful on the outside, but working there is anything but picturesque. 

Save yourself the grief—look elsewhere.

I startet at manning park one month ago in housekeeping without housekeeping experience (all the other fellows didn´t have experience as well). We got 3 hours of training (read 80 pages of manual, which chemicals we use, how to make beds). Then we startet working with workers that worked there for just 3 weeks and we were supposed to learn from them. The last two weeks we had every day over 90% occupency so there should be enough work. Nevertheless we housekeepers just have hours like a part-time (we all applied for a fulltime). Now after one month they want us to have the timing like experienced housekeepers, otherwise they cut our hours. So the one or two fastest workers get their five working days and all the others just four (a usual work day is just about 6 hours).

A big pro is the cheap and actually good staff housing, the big staff perks and the that everybody is really nice to each other. Also I know that the workers in other departments are really happy with their work.
So I would not recommend to work in housekeeping as far as they do not change anything. But I can definitely recommend to work in other departments in Manning Park Resort, it is a beautiful place and I am really grateful for this. 


 The managment will be nice and tell you are doing awesome and then the next day tell you, you are on your last warning with no prior warnings.  They just fired 7 of their good longtime workers, Plus a manager. This is the most depressing job I have ever worked at. I'd avoid at all costs unless you want to be homeless within weeks of being hired. A typical first two weeks of the job expect to be training new staff. As well as being by yourself and able to strip and make two queen sized perfect beds within 10mins. On top of that having the whole room done in 30 mins or less, times that by 15 rooms all by 4pm. Which is what they will expect you to get to. Plus add more extra cleaning that will expected to be finished by the end of your shift. Imagine having have that same energy 5 days a week, Ya me either. Even if you are brand new and cannot meet these need as fast as they expect you to, they will already be looking for your replacement, and will tell you to your face to intimidate you. 

i was a line cook here and can confidently say that the only department that is taken care of is food and beverage, but even at that point you are treated to terrible living conditions, no shuttle to the nearest town for groceries, (at best) poor wifi(15kb/second) management that doesn’t care(they tend to act like you’re spoiled with the little amenities you have) and absolutely abhorrent price gauging on necessities for staff. Also the HR and housing is run by one person that will not hesitate to hold a personal vendetta against you. Putting you in the most decrepit mould filled house they have to offer. In summary manning park was a beautiful resort that has been run down through the past 15 years through extremely poor management and shortcuts that make the staff’s day to day life insufferable. Only apply here if you’ve been convicted of such heinous crimes that you won’t be hired elsewhere.

The winter season at Manning was fantastic - great benefits (seasons pass for everything), cheap housing, discounts at the pub and a fun group of staff members. Hours were reliable even if the pay was minimum wage, but the benefits made up for this. 

However, the Resort (both staff housing and guest cabins) needs a lot of refurbishment and management was a revolving door, which made staff feel unheard and unappreciated. During the summer, staff were under pressure to perform to unclear and unreasonable Covid standards, and guests were frustrated at what appeared to be a lack of accountability on management's behalf. In saying that, many of the managers also appeared to be under extreme pressure to make back the money lost during the shutdown in March-June, but this should not have been felt as obviously as it was in each staff department.

I served as the dedicated night patrol, responsible for enforcing property rules and maintaining safety during overnight hours. I approached the role with professionalism and consistency, often working independently with minimal guidance from management. Despite navigating complex situations and maintaining detailed shift reports, recognition for my efforts was rare.
For an entire month, I worked seven days a week due to staffing shortages, ensuring operations continued smoothly without interruption. I remained focused, dependable, and committed to protocol, even when support from leadership was limited.
While the role demanded vigilance and accountability, it also revealed gaps in communication and recognition within the organization. I hope future employees in this position receive clearer support structures and acknowledgment for the essential work they do behind the scenes.

This company is a case study for micro management. The GM wants to control everything which result in wasted time and money, difficulties to make progress, and a lot of organizational chaos. The 2.8 rating is overestimated as some of the 5 stars reviews are fakes from whitin. If you plan to come for one or 2 seasons as a front line employee you could have the best time of your life. Great community and good atmosphere in Staff housing. If you are looking higher up (supervisor/manager role), be prepared for a lot of frustration as your skills and knowledge will constantly be undermined by the hierarchy. The Park and its surroundings are amazing. Beautiful Nature, Wildlife, and tons of activities for an outdoor enthusiast. 

Save yourself the headache and look elsewhere if planning to stay long term. No benefits, no tool allowance but have barely any tools supplied by company, poor quality and very little uniform supplied, expected to go above and beyond while getting paid peanuts, work like a dog for years on end with very little time off because of no option to bank vacation pay. 
It’s alright if you’re on a working holiday just wanting to do a single ski/summer season. Free pass & rentals, beautiful scenery, plenty of wildlife and cheap living. 
Senior management is very resistant to change and quite incompetent.
Met and worked with some great people here but that doesn’t make up for the rest of it.

As a night auditor five days a week, my typical day includes catching errors in the cash out of each department member, from the restaurant to the boathouse.
In addition to the typical night audit duties, I've also been tasked with periodic updates the the manningpark.com website, as well as having created a more streamlined version of our end of day numbers using excel.

I enjoy the ability to excel on my own, to show that I can handle the responsibilities without direct guidance.

I've grown to be able to accommodate multiple tasks at a time through customer interaction and front desk shifts.

Manning Park is an absolutely amazing place to both live and work. Free use of amenities, extremely low rent (staff accommodation has its issues, but is mostly comfortable and functional, if you're looking for luxury, you won't find it here) and a great community to be a part of. The fun never stops in either winter or summer, the outdoors is spectacular at every turn, and even the work, while still just being work, can be pretty fun if you have a good tram and supportive management. Would recommend to everyone who loves being outsude and being part of an open, welcoming community.
