Martins Family Fruit Farm

Working here is not so bad and dirty as other food processing companies. Many workers are ver nice and friendly. However this company is always short of staff, so if you are a skilled worker you would be more pressure sometimes to do more than one job at once, and no rewards for that, other than a smile , a slice of pizza a donut or some threats like that. Be promoted is hard cause the company usually fill lead jobs with new people and no with loyal good workers. Quality Control needs a lot of improvement as same a technical maintenance (machines could be broken for weeks) especially because these company doesn't care if machines ar not running good or one shift is short of staff, their targets are always the same. The building seems  is not well designed, is easy to be hit by a forklift in the stretch hallways or prepare for a long walk to go to lunchroom. 

If you like to be brain dead all day this is the job for you. There is no thinking involved. If your a pretty girl, make sure your ready to be hit on all of the time.  Machines break often so alot of the time your bending over to put apples in bags and it's soo hard on your back. Absolutely no sitting is allowed, even though at some of the line spots you totally could. But don't because you'll get in trouble. Also if you want to advance in the company get ready to stick around for 3+ years as a line worker. (Not fatigue mats so within the first week you'll need to start seeing a chiropractor. Most line Workers have worked there 15+ years and still only make $14.50/hr)

I worked at the Martins in Elmira for a couple years. Management is fake, QC manager especially, they don’t care about you, unless you are their friend then you can get away with anything. Pay is garbage, you could work there for 10 years and still be earning minimum. Work is repetitive, machines constantly break and you are expected to be busy even when there’s nothing to do. They were always short staffed and when it was busy you are just expected to pick up the extra work and do the jobs of 5 people. Your job is never secure, they fire people without reason. Workers were miserable, some hard to work with due to lack of English speaking. Overall do not recommend working here, you will be miserable too. 

On a typical day at work you'll be working with someone new because different skill sets. You will learn how to co-operate with others and learn new skills. Management is not to bad. My co-workers are great. They work as a team but sometimes some of the co-workers are not in the mood so everything will be all on you to do most of the work. The hardest part of the job is being moved to a different job area because the manager see's you as a hard worker employee that needs to be put at an higher job duty.

I have worked at the Elmira location since June 2022. I am part of a new start up at this facility. The start up has been challenging but the people I work with are great. It is really nice to see upper management step in when help is needed, they are really supportive. Everyone for the most part seem to get a long and the leads help support each other. I enjoy coming to work everyday.

Most jobs were manageable, but could quickly become unmanageable due to there being not enough employees to deal with the amount apples being packaged. There were certain safety concerns I had talked with management about but were never dealt with in the time that I was there. Management in general was rather distant from there employees.

If you were capable, they would pile as much work on your shoulders, more responsibilities, without a raise.
Upper management was passive aggressive and seemed to forget what it was like making so little.

Martin’s is a great place to work . There’s many cultures you’ll work with which is very hard at times with the language difference. Some people speak little to no English 
 But lots of room for advancement in company. 

Horrible place to work. All the work to be done is on the cheap. No raises. Last raise for floor workers was only cuz the min wage increased. 
Management always on your back to run faster. 
We have a production line and they don't even know how to run it. How are we supposed to learn it then?  

If you are best friends with the managment then you can get away with anything. This place doesn't know how to treat their loyal employees. Pay sucks. I've seen people get hit by forklifts and nothing is done to the forklift driver.
