Working at Mastec Canada has been a rewarding experience overall. The company provides strong opportunities for growth, especially for those willing to learn and take initiative. My team was supportive, and management encouraged open communication and problem solving. Safety is a major priority on every job site, and the training programs are thorough and well structured. The work can be demanding at times, particularly during peak project periods, but the overtime pay and benefits help balance that. One thing I appreciated most was the variety of projects—no two days felt exactly the same, which kept the job interesting. There is room for improvement in scheduling and project coordination, as shifts can change quickly, but when issues were raised, supervisors generally listened and adjusted. Overall, Mastec Canada is a solid place to build a career if you’re motivated, enjoy hands-on work, and value a collaborative environment.

As soon as you get injured they will starve you out of work, and when you ask about work you get attitude. Oh and the dispatch lady is probably the most inconsiderate person out of the whole company. She thinks all Texts go through and there’s nothing wrong with technology so when you “get a text for work” she’ll add text to confirm and if you don’t answer that’s not her problem any more, but even when you don’t get the text it’s your fault. Watch out for this company. Everyone in it is shady. Best bet is to find a different company cause this one seems to risky with the abuse and bullcrap you put up with when you injure yourself.

I enjoy working at mastec because of the people, fair salary and great safety culture.

While we all deal with difficult clients I enjoy the fact that our upper management and corporate leadership have our back during stressful times.

A feeling of inclusion. This place feels like we succeed best as a team

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I was a supervisor. Mornings were super early (in office for 6am). High activity until 9am then slowed down (to a normal pace) until 3pm the super busy until end of day. We'll paid  good benifits.

They laid me off saying it would be for 6-8 weeks until things picked up.  I reached out to the foreman/supervisor but he would not answer my calls or talk to me.  Found out they immediately hired someone from out of province to fill my spot.  If they didn't plan to have me back, they should have said so and I would not have waited around for 2 months.  Also, had to contact the head office HR to find out about my ROE which was never actually issued.  Very unprofessional.

Worked with alot of great people over the years, the guys in the field is what makes it a good place to work. Most of the management treated me like gold with acception of a few, they promise alot of work but don't believe it until your boots on the ground. Pay was good but the last few years jobs are getting scarce, the managers can't get it together.  Hopefully something changes

I had a bunch of people headhunting me for my job because I did not have asmich field experience as they did. I was the youngest Inspector on site by far. And the same price so obviously at the end of the job. They hired someone more experienced for the next one as I was still learning and had more questions for my management than the older guys.

started day with tailgate meeting about hazards and being safe. went to work did walk around equip. and started work day, if you had issues call upper management get problem solved. hardest part of job is teaching others the proper way. best part  of job was cleaning up after all was done,{i work on grader most of time}. looking back at end of day and every thing is back to normal or better, was great company to work for.

This job and company is a joke.  If you like shoveling sand into a wheelbarrow. Because nothing gets fixed.  Then this is the job for you.  Supervisors are a joke. Only care about how they look. Superintendents are bigger joke.  All yes men. Don’t bring up real needs. The pay is  absolute bigger joke.   11 day pay periods then 8 day because to cheap to pay overtime on a 14 day pay period.  If you like playing in sand. This is the job for you

Getting up for work, after that it’s all good
