I arrived to work 10 minutes before start time (usually 7am).  Have a safety meeting/run-down of the day's itinerary (i.e. who would be working with whom and what was expected of us that day). Start working, break around 10AM. Continue working until noon. Break for lunch.  Continue working until 2:45pm.  Start putting away tools, locking everything up. Securing propane cylinders. End of day. I learned that if you have a "stupid" question, ask it, because there is at least one other person wondering the same thing. If I didn't understand something, I always asked for clarification.  The men I worked with were awesome. Being the only woman, I was pleasantly surprised that the guys accepted me quite easily.  We had a good working relationship.  Joking around and sharing stories. Had some good times with the guys. The hardest part of the job was probably working in extreme temperatures.  My body is very sensitive to cold. In the warmer months I was fine, but in winter, I could have worn 3 parkas and still froze. The best part of this job was the variety for sure. We were never in the same environment for very long.  Contracts would last anywhere from a day to a year. Being the only apprentice at the time, I got to work in more of the departments than the average employee. I really enjoyed the variety of new co-workers and opportunities.

MATCOM has grown significantly since I joined 2 years ago. Organization offers a very stable environment, and my direct manager is extremely supportive and helpful in all areas. This type of job is great for people who thrive in fast paced problem-solving environments. Some projects require unique solutions and therefore innovative ideas are always welcomed. Due to the nature of the projects, they are rarely similar keeping the work interesting and engaging. Dedication, sales experience, planning, coordination, positive attitude, and strong relationship with the field staff are keys to success in this role.  

Company is on a growth trajectory at the moment, so many fun projects happening simultaneously. Management ensures that employees have a positive work environment and are very accommodating to the needs of the employees. You really do feel like part of the family as the organization is a family run business. Matcom values employees and promotes a healthy work-life balance. Lucked out by finding this amazing organization!

Company would be great if they actually allowed to modernize and department managers allowed to run their own departments. The president is an egomaniac and control freak who doesn't trust anyone to do their job. Thinks every employee is secretly out to get him. You have a good chance of promotion and raises if you are male or related to the owner/president. Competency guarantees no job security. Culture is that of a factory if you are office staff.

The work environment is friendly and helpful.  There are always people to ask for assistance  and everyone is willing to help where they can.
Great people to work with.  Employees work hard and get results.  I've learned a lot while I've been here.  The work can be demanding, but enjoyable at the same time.  Overall job satisfaction is high. 

From day one you felt a sense of comfort around the office and in the field. Your foreman is always teaching and explaining the job. No jobs are the same and each has a different approach. Always a good day at the end.

Professional place to work with a great collaborative and friendly environment. The projects are always interesting, you learn something new everyday. Matcom is always trying to find ways to improve and grow, while still maintaining a family culture. Everyday is different, there is never a dull moment.

It is a great place to work with competitive compensation, and an ever-changing environment.  The culture of the company is relaxed, and very supportive.  Matcom stoves for a 'family' feel. 

Worst company in 34 years ever worked for. Completely a disaster at the top on down. Would definitely recommend never ever working for them ever. Very unprofessional. Unskilled people in positions because they were with the company awhile.
