This company will give just about anyone a shot. If you're someone out of college or inbetween jobs with no real opportunities lined up you should definitely give matrix group a chance. Once they give you a book and you get your letters make sure to make alot of calls. You will fail if you don't do this. Zero out, try different people at the company. Email them with a simple one liner asking if they are the best person to contact. Look at the ad index and be sure to call the competitors of companies within your territory. You might have to spend a little time researching leads. If you happen to get the correct person on the phone. Take the time to do some fact finding. Why do they want to reach this audience? What differentiates them? What is their message? You will sell more frequently with a consultative approach. Come in prepared everyday. They want to hear you objection handling but the reality is most people on the other side of the phone don't cave once you've handled their objection. Don't sell them figure out how to get them to talk about their objectives and why it's important for them to be in front of the audience you are calling on behalf of. 

I enjoyed working at matrix as I did Business to Business sales in advertisement that would appear in magazines published on behalf of associations.
Time management was an asset as you needed to find your own clients and do research on their companies to ensure they would be a good fit for the magazine's industry that it would be targeted towards. 
I liked how I got to learn about all sorts of trades and industries.

This wasn't the be all and end all of jobs, but it was a steady pay check. The only problem is that management expects you to be some sort of sales all star straight from the beginning. Obviously, for most of us, that just isn't the case. I'd have a different opinion on this if they actually helped you instead of just saying "here, fix your mistakes or you're fired".  I wouldn't recommend to anyone who isn't fantastic at sales.

Making 100 calls a day, selling ad space in Trade Magazines, under new management who was not ready for the position.  Hardest part of job, is the company billed your hours to you and if you didn't make enough sales to cover your own wages, you would still get paid minimum wage, however would be in the negative and owing that back to the company each month as it accumulated.  Only enjoyable part of the job was building rapport with the clients.  Too much negativity at this place, not a good work environment.

I have just started here and the staff are all super friendly and helpful. Management will work with you as much as you ask them to. Other staff will help out too. Looking forward to settling in and getting more sales. I never worked sales before and I am really enjoying it!! Lots to learn about lots of industries. You are expected to work hard but it does pay off - the other staff say it too.

Not a good place to work, too much pressure. If you don’t sell you get fired. So many new faces all the time. As for management not very professional. Will yell if you are not selling. So many empty promises, and the over/ under pay. You can never get ahead. Unless you can sell 12,000 a week you see no commissions. No job security, they say they will work with you and don’t, easier to just let you go. Just not a good place to work.

Lots of opportunity to make money. It is a sales job and the commission structure is good. Lots of little incentives for contest and extras here and there. Makes the job environment fun! It's sales so it is hard but the more you put out there the better potential. No cap on commissions. I can see how each year I will make more money.

I really like this job. The staff and management were nice and very helpful. Tried to offer me lots of support with sales and sales techniques. I like the hours cause it wasn't shift work. I got sick and had to take time off. Hoping to go back when I'm better!

Remuneration is strictly on commission. If you sell, you make money. If you get good territories, you will likely sell more. They offer standard health care coverage.
