It's one of those jobs where management just views you as a number and not a human. They literally track workers by their "percentage". So if you know how those jobs work, they only talk to you when your numbers are low and ignore you when its high. The thing is the orders are random and sometimes really heavy and short or vice versa. So it's hard to hit numbers you have to literally break your back to hit high numbers. Also some boxes have team lift stickers on it so if you stop and ask someone for help, some people will be anxious to help because of their own numbers. If you do get help and ask the supervisor for a delay they make it a big problem. Why, because their management doesn't want us to have delays in their time which affects your work percentage. Multiple I mean MULTIPLE TIMES, I have asked for delay on a order for a battery change on a truck or team lifting boxes etc... only for a supervisor to say "yes i will give a delay". Then they don't or they will give you less time than what you asked for. It's literally you against the company. If you like when a supervisor or manager lies to your face constantly, then this is a job for you. Especially if you like to break your back for a company. Honestly if you can get out of order picker position it might be good. The only reason I liked it was my coworkers. I left and did a plumbing trade course and now make more than order pickers work starting there and do less work than they do. My advice for any young people interested in starting here is go do a trade. Go and learn a skill and don't just mindlessly destroy your body and mind order picking. Canada is currently short on tradesman/woman, no point to do this hard labour work. When you can be working in a trade and developing skills instead of working like a robot order picking. GOD BLESS.

What is the best part of working at the company?
I am recognized as an employee who makes a difference at Matrix.  An employee  who gets it right the first time.  I can see there is great organization when it comes to picking orders as we all have different orders to pick and great organization of products in aisles.  Cleaning team is excellent.  No mess or debris on floors.  Food in cafeteria is great and great prices!  Matrix is always seeking feedback from employees.  This is great way to learn and move forward.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Probably wait times ...waiting to pick product at a pick location but there are 2 employee ahead of you .  This is understandable when there is high volume to be picked on a shift.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Great people to work with.  The best organization that I have worked for !  The company is open to new ideas / concepts that will benefit everyone as a whole.  The door is  open for ideas.. that is a great thing !  EOS surveys are a key role at Matrix))

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Busy busy busy ..  as an order selector we deal with high volumes of cases.  I drive my machine to the printer to receive my next order.   I start picking my order in the corresponding aisles.  Periodically i will wrap my pallet to secure it so it will not collapse.  It is important that Employees incorporate safety,  quality, and time management all in one .  Safety being the most important of all.

I worked as a permanent part-time order picker, it was a challenging role since we were handling prescription medication, it needs to be very accurate and damaged free products to satisfy our clients. I learned a lot from this company because they offered cross training to other departments within the warehouse, and because of that i was not limited to one department only, I was able to help other department whenever they need more people. It is a friendly environment, people are approachable. The only issue i had with matrix is that i didn't get a chance to be full time, it is also because they follow a seniority rule in hiring people.

Management preaches health and safety at nausea but doesn't actually follow through with much of what they are saying.  The lazy workers tend to get away with doing less while the harder workers will get more work and responsibility thrown at them.  Management doesn't think outside the box enough to work with the employees which would go much further in improving the atmosphere and mental health of the employees.

I grade it as fair for everyone 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Just picking the right product and hit your minimum percentage everyday

Strong "Team" attitude is enforced and practiced by everyone.  All co-workers were extremely welcoming and helpful.  Multiple Team Leaders are all quite approachable yet professional.  Advancement is kept internal and seasonally employ temps. Majority male employees but appear to be equal opportunity.

I really liked working at Matrix Logistics and it was a clean environment. I also like the Management and coworkers. The Order picking methods were Unique with the Talk man handsfree scanners. Overall it was great experience for me.

pretty average across the board, can get a little hectic with the productivity and team leaders. pretty dusty and not too clean of a workplace, sometimes the employers demands are not realist.

Continuous improvement is key to an enjoyable work environment as we continue to challenge the norm. 

Change culture is a necessity in today's workplace and keeping it enjoyable allows accountability to flourish.

Great place to work if you like to work. Lots of opportunity and growth within the company. Opportunity is always there to make a little overtime pay as well. Benefits are great, wages are high compared to some other companies in the area. Every company has their challenges but at they at least listen and try to improve them
