Depends on what you want in life. Good place to start or retire. Not so good if you want to grow or advance in your career. People have been in their jobs for 10+ years. Very relaxed place. Very stable. Moves very slowly.

I spoke to plenty of departments. The best people left a long time ago (realizing they couldn't affect change), they are now VPs in other companies. Just know what you're getting into and keep your eyes open. 

My advice: Don't get too comfortable if not you may stay forever. But if you want to grow and increase your salary, you need to move, be open to new experiences, and take a chance on yourself. Good luck and I wish you well my friend.

Matrox has high standards for their tech support agents and Applications specialists (actually a tech support agent with a fancier title).  Requiring a minimal of bachelor's degree to be able to move  up in the job, regardless of how well the employee had performed in their job duties and number of years of experience in the job.  Career advancement is limited within the company.

But the job was low stress, and having a full gym, outdoor pool (in summer), full cafeteria and day-care service on-site is a bonus.  Applications Support management was supportive and flexible; management was not too proud to step in to do low-level support tasks when needed. There were some decent managers within the company.  Just upper management was a issue until one of the 2 owners sold his share of the company did things slowly get better.  After which, the Imaging division of Matrox got sold to an American company (Zebra).

I would not recommend this company. The marketing department is not innovative and the tools they use are extremely outdated. There is a long approval process for everything and little room to contribute ideas and personal growth.  A lot of micromanagement. If you are in marketing, you will not learn anything and you will not gain any transferable skills to further your career. But if you enjoy monkey work and just punching in and out, then this is excellent. Salaries are much lower than average. Benefits are also not great for such a large company.

Working at Matrox gave me a good idea of what a professional work environment can be like. I would usually start my day with a set of scheduled tasks from engineers, perform these tasks in a timely manner in order to send the results of these tasks to the engineers who later will further work on given products based the results provided.

The workers are very friendly and helpful. As an intern you learn a lot. The work environment is very relaxed and there is no stress at all. You can choose on what project you wish to work the most. The pay is OK for an internship. The managers are very friendly and are always there to answer your questions.

This 4 month internship at Matrox for FPGA validation software was mostly fine. Since it was during COVID, I went physically to the site only a few times. It made the communication slower and teamwork less interesting. Regardless, I enjoyed working there and learning about their test methodology.

It's a good company to work for if you are a new graduate. The people are very nice and supportive and the company is very stable. The pros end there unfortunately. The pay, benefits, flexibility is very mediocre and there is little room for growth.

I really enjoyed the twelve years I spent at Matrox. I learned a lot and I am grateful for the opportunity to have worked on a interesting/challenging project from the very start. I left so that I would be able to travel long-term.

As a Desktop Development Intern at Matrox, I worked in a supportive environment with helpful colleagues. Although the atmosphere was good, there were few company activities or events, and the technology felt a bit outdated.

The culture is great and very laidback and the work can be very interesting. The office amenities are pretty nice. Overall it's a good company. The main negative is the compensation relative to other market leading companies.
