Good company if you’re able to smile and nod. They fire employees without proper cause or notice, talk badly about almost every employee, and joke about how they said they would give a reference and then privately say they won’t. They don’t like if you voice your opinions or offer a correction to things older employees have wrong. Tells everyone to respect role boundaries but then senior employees think it doesn’t apply to them and you’re in trouble for trying to enforce the boundary. The owner is older and nice and is talked VERY badly about by all other management, they’re very two faced and framed themselves very differently in the interview. I was pretty happy when the employment ended. The one person they ‘warned me’ about in the interview was one of the only nice and respectful ones there honestly, if he ever got upset he would come and apologize.

Great job and great team mates, everyone has each others' backs. Once in a while there's moments that you'll get in any company, like gossip or bad attitudes. but that's more about the individuals, not the company as a whole. The owner is amazing, always has your back and will support you through anything. He's done an amazing job building this over 50 years. A big portion of the management team is family and have been part of the company for decades. This means they're in their ways, and not looking to change much, it also means they know what they're doing, and pretty much anyone is ready to support you or help you learn at any point. They're quite hands off in a lot of ways and yet always accessible even if they're not 'on schedule'. The job itself is quite low-stress and laid back. You often have time to do research or study up on anything you're trying to learn more about.

Overall, Mattress Mart is a work place with good wages and friendly coworkers. This may be enticing enough to keep some people around. Unfortunately, the negatives out weigh the positives. Management expects too much of you and barely invests in training. Learned sales tactics are out dated as they try to make their workers into used car salesmen (if you know what I mean). The idea of meeting targets is nothing new however the problem is there is no effort to inform you as to what those targets are. How can you know if your performance is poor if no one ever tells you it is bad? In the end you will either quit due to poor management or be terminated without ever knowing why you were terminated. The hardest part of the job - aside from management - is the incredible amount of down time you have between customers. It is a relatively boring job. 

These people will hire anyone you can basically talk your way through the interview. They say its one pay rate plus daily bonuses but your hourly rate includes possible bonuses. Employees are unprofessional even high at most the time, there is little to no training they jist expect you to know what you are doing and know the merchandise. Management can't get their act together you have an owner say one thing and then the operation manager do the opposite. I witnessed the operation manager body check employees into mattresses for fun. Their trucks are not maintained and smoked in so be prepared to smell like an ashtray or be sick from second hand smoke.

This company has one of the worst management you can Imagine if you are looking for long term it is not for you but good for short period of time work not bad money.

Uneducated people shouldnt come to management ans deal with drivers the operations manager had ego issues and was giving some of the people he chooses hard time for no reason.

Also you have to lift king mattresses ALONE and if you cant lift and ask help even when it is too heavy to lift alone the manager will look down upon you and even mock with you.

Excellent owners, toxic and negative management.

A whole lot of waiting around for customers, and then when you finally get one, you are being judged and watched while engaging with clients and trying to close the sale, being "rushed" by management because you are taking too long to close the sale,  or your customer is literally stolen from you because another employee "recognizes" them or has seen them before.  No praise or proper training, and constant criticism and uncomfortable moments of judgement.  Awkward and toxic!

The pay and making commission was terrible due to the lack of customers coming in

At first it was great but after a couple of weeks it became more and more difficult to find motivation due to the lack of training and customer interaction

I loved my time at Mattress Mart, it was filled with good laughs, an incredible group of guys I worked with, and an amazing management team that always lets you feel appreciated. There where some long days and it being a smaller company leaves little advancement within the company. But i loved it nevertheless and would never have anything negative to say about the way Mattress Mart conducts their business and the people that work there.

I would not recommend working for this business. During my almost year long term there I was met with a lot of immaturity from management as well as a lot of micromanaging. The lack of professionalism was almost impressive, there is a lot of gossip. As well there is no job security. I did not feel valued by them in anyway. At least working there I felt that I was paid fairly which was at least something for the lack of security I felt in my position. 

As Warehouse manager a typical day at Mattress Mart would consist of loading the delivery truck for the daily deliveries, cleaning the warehouse and store and providing customer service. When necessary I would substitute for a delivery crew member. on many occasions delivery days could last upwards of 12 hours. I pulled many muscles working this job and even dislocated my thumb on one occasion.
