-- on call even when officially not on call;
-- penalized for refusing callout, even if not on call, even if you already worked 18 hours that day;
-- expected to be safe and alert day after day, working very long hours with inadequate rest in between shifts;
-- requests for a different client or a day off due to exhaustion, are ignored.

As a TWS at McLeod Safety, you'll be regularly manipulated or lied to by planning staff, whose job it is to tell you anything they have to, so you accept your next day's assignment eagerly and quickly without hesitation and without question. You'll often find you've been grossly misinformed about your next day's job, and get a rude surprise when you arrive on-site in the morning and discover the reality of the situation; you may not even have the necessary equipment or enough people to do the job safely.

Management is concerned with making money at any cost, and controlling you. Treating you like a number, like a mindless drone, like a pawn in their big money-making game, is their only objective.

Safety is supposed to be top priority, but in actuality it takes a back seat to keeping clients satisfied, and making (or not spending) money. Safe-looking on the outside, greedy and cheap on the inside.

The benefits after probation are decent; that is the only upside to working for McLeod Safety, but it isn't enough of an upside to keep you working there as a TWS, unless it's the last job on Earth.

Don't take this job even if your desperate. They don't treat there employees well. You work 12 days on. Between 4 and 20 hours a day. They don't pay the first hour of travel , and they make you pick up people who live the opposite direction of where you are going. Most signers are good. I had the one bad one. Who had a big criminal record. And very poor attitude towards the job and your safety. He would give u a 20 minutes break  out of a 5 hour day. Management and new employees will rat you out for the smallest things. They made me come to work when I was under the influence but they didn't care they just wanted somebody there they don't care if you're on drugs or drunk unless you get caught.  The pay is terrible. Unless your on shift with nsp. You will always feel like your being underpaid.

Jobs were sent out the night before, crew was set up.
Worked mainly with N.S. Power doing set up and trouble shooting.
Trained in Traffic Control - set up of barriers, traffic movement and protection of workers doing the jobs, ie. NSP linesmen working on the poles.

Hardest part of the job was dealing with drivers out their who don't respect the signs and the reasons behind the signs, that being to keep both the workers and them safe while work is being done.

The most enjoyable part of the job is coming home at night knowing that I did my best for the job I was assigned today.

besides the fact that managment gave me a bad review because i could not make it in a few times when they called me i enjoyed working for this company. I found that they were easy going and enjoyable to work for, i dont know why everyone has they panties in a bunch over them and giving them such bad reviews. People are lying about them not giving proper breaks because this is the only flagging company i worked for that actually did give me breaks. In the winter they do not allow you to be outside for more then 20 minutes at a time and they switch up and trade spots so each person gets a chance to warm up so this is a lie.

Immediate co workers talked to you like they are your best friend and then report anything you say back to their family aka management.
The hardest part of the job was dealing with all the passive aggressive behaviors from direct management - absolutely no open door policy at all. 
The most enjoyalbe part of the job was the end of my shift.

Working here help me understand the mindset of the mine management back in the day,  Rather bully their employees rather than work with them. bodies are just another resource  to earn the company money. low pay for the hours (some unpaid),   Work long hours or short and .  Manage seems unorganised. Expected to work on call when needed, but no consideration for their employees.  can be punitive if you required time off.

The job culture within the traffic control sector is non existent. This company is no different. Dispute their claims of being different and professional it is all talk and no real actions. Hiring is sparatic with no real retention. Management is poor. There is little to no respect given but it's expected. No gear allowance. Pricey benefits package. Poorly maintained trucks. This job is what you choose to make it. Just be aware that it's not all fun and games.

Life at this job was very good, I may be able to move out on my own someday. (2014) I had trouble with lottery tickets and not making sure to track my sales. Management is great and the co-workers are the best. I enjoyed coming to work and seeing people I can get to know and understand work habits on the job. I got to meet a lot of new people and old friends.

I really enjoyed this occupation. I had the chance to travel throughout Nova Scotia, and work alongside Nova Scotia Power. I wish I could have stayed employed longer, but due to having a new born. The unpredictable schedule at the time, wasn't going to be convenient.

If you enjoy kissing management butt and working with Neanderthals, then this is the place for you. Trucks aren't fit to be on the road and the gear is a joke.  Management is a bunch of bullies.
