Hi,
Medicine Shoppe Pharmacy is the first place from where I started my career. I finished my school and as a co-op, I joined medicine shoppe. The pharmacist and owner is same and he is very kind in nature. He is always aware me if I am doing mistake and he always teach proper method of compounding of various medicine and dispensing of prescriptions. I am working since last one and half year and I worked with few technicians in Pharmacy. All the staff is co-operative. 

At the time when I joined the pharmacy I have only books knowledge. But after one and half year I got enough experience and exposure in field of dispensing and billing of prescriptions. Pharmacy is busy on clinic days. Sometimes on same day we were getting more compounding prescriptions and it was the hard time . 

One day I was working with relief pharmacist and suddenly power out in pharmacy because of bad weather. Without the lights me and relief pharmacist dispensed the methadone to the patients. 

I like to compound the medicines and i really enjoyed a lot in medicine shoppe pharmacy whenever I was compound some suppository , suspension or cream. 

I am very thankful to the owner and staff that they taught me various dispensing and practical points. They support me and they gave me an opportunity to join their pharmacy team.

I enjoyed working at The Medicine Shoppe.  I worked alongside many good people and I met a lot of nice people in the community.  The staff were very knowledgeable and helpful to learn more about pharmacy.  

A typical day at work consisted of billing and constructing blister packed medications, filling new prescriptions, checking completed prescriptions, compounding, cleaning, and making daily deliveries.

The management team was very uplifting and  were very encouraging to work with.

The hardest part of the job was probably moving on to another pharmacy.

The most enjoyable part of the job was interacting with the staff and the patients of the pharmacy, it had a very happy atmosphere.

Everyone, staff and patients alike are treated like family,

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The expectation that one's compound should be ready immediately can be stressful.  Once explained how compounded medications work, most patients understand the wait.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
We are like our own little family, we help and support each other daily.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I arrive at work, research needed compounds if any, enter them into the system. build patient profiles, input compound prescription to get prices to call patient at a later time. Then it's time to start compounding each prescription with cleaning between each one until end of shift.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The support from the owner/managers. The support from the banner company and training they offer. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There isn't really a stressful part that stands out. Just regular day-to-day stuff in a pharmacy.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Positive, uplifting and caring.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
My typical day was getting to work, organizing anything that came in overnight prescription wise then checking on any products for their ETA if we were waiting on an order and regular opening duties.

Was hired on because current staff were overwhelmed with their work-load. You could feel how overwhelmed they were based on the first day. No one was designated to train the new hires, so you would get passed around a lot and reprimanded for not knowing anything, even though proper training was not provided.

After 4 months, they terminated my position over the phone due to "budgetary restraints". It felt very unprofessional and mismanaged on how they dealt with the termination.

I would not recommend working here unless you want to feel like a number to the business.

What is the best part of working at the company?
The customers! More friendlier then the staff you work with. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The staff! Too clicky  and a lot of favouritism to certain staff. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Stressful! Staff don’t respect the customer and like to gossip about them. Very unprofessional of in that line of work. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Stressing but the patients always make it better and knowing you’re helping them in a way no one has.

This is a community pharmacy. It is busy in the morning especially if there are many patients in the medical clinic beside of the pharmacy. People who take methadone come in the morning most of the time. I learned WinRx System which they use to access patient's profile in the PharmaNet. Pharmacists and Technicians are friendly and efficient. The hardest part is when there's a line up of customers and need to work fast but accurate in dispensing medication. The enjoyable part is when the customer's appreciate your hard work and they leave with a big smile.

- Worked as part time, from 12 noon to 5 pm.
- First experience of job and learned all the responsibilities of a pharmacy assistant.
- Great management, all duties and responsibilities were professionally defined and executed.
- Co-workers were co-operative and excellent relationship developed.
- To deal with customer / Patient with impaired understanding  was the hardest part.
- Learning new things everyday and then completing the tasks with that knowledge was most enjoyable and satisfactory part of the job.

You are expected to work thru your lunch break and always be available. They don’t like you leaving the store for your thirty minute lunch break even if it is to go get a bite to eat. The management is terrible and there is favouritism. The most drama I’ve experienced in a work place in my life. You do not get health benefits and get paid lower then average. Management will lie to make themselves look good on paper but they don’t do the right thing. They do treat their customers well though. Have fun eating your lunch next to a toilet because they have no lunch room. 

I enjoyed working there until they hired new staff and then my hours were cut drastically.  I felt I was being pushed out the door.  My hours went from 40/wk to 32/wk for one month, then to 24/wk the next month.  I was given the reason that we weren't busy enough, yet the full-time person who was hired after me is still there full time.  She was also offered extra opportunities that I wasn't, ie IDEAL PROTIEN, Stocking fitter, etc.
