If you’re new to welding and just need a place to get some basic experience, this job can serve that purpose. Beyond that, though, it’s not a great long-term option. 

The problem is the pay doesn’t really match the amount of work they expect. Management tends to set unrealistic goals and still expects you to hit them even when things go wrong that are out of your control — like broken equipment or mistakes with scheduling or materials. It gets frustrating having to make up for lost time when it’s not your fault. It sometimes feels like no matter how hard you work, it’s never quite enough.

Training is minimal, and raises or advancement opportunities are rare. Overall, this job is a short-term stepping stone, but anyone serious about their career should move on to an employer that actually values their employees’ time and skills.

Honestly, I don’t see things improving much unless management starts listening to the people actually doing the work. There’s this big disconnect between the office and the floor, and it shows in how the place runs day to day. If they don’t address the pay issues and expectations, they’re going to keep losing good workers. It could be a solid company, but not until they start valuing their employees more.

People on the floor nice. Management systems at this place need an overhaul. Operations is run by people with no actual background in welding. Making it hard for actual REAL JOURNEYMAN to complete tasks from lack of organization and detailed drawings. Very non- compliant with CWB code requirements and find every little way to get around them. 
Pay is very bad, if you want to make $35,000 a year for the rest of your life this is the place. They refuse to pay anything higher and believe they don’t have to because they are agriculture. 
Production scheduling is very bad also, will always be pushing to have bins done regardless of the quality of the final product and you can’t disagree with production managers about it, because they will have final say and your job might be in jeopardy.


During my period there I've learn how to work safe and efficiently, offtain times i would challenge myself to complete a work order which vares from  20- 30 pieces within a few hours. the parts itself was simple because most of the projects assemble in jigs. management wasnt the best but they still manage the work which was great for me. there was some slow days as well so we had to work according to our daily task. the enviroment there was okay, most of the workers and supervisors there were very friendly and heplful. the hard thing for me was, they under paid most of the workers included my self, and secondly some of the parts werent place were there should be located, sometimes it took most of the morning period locating the correct work order. but other than that the thing i most enjoy was there family socials. this is my overall review of the company.

Management here is very poor, they don’t make you feel valued and when you don’t just smile and nod you’re black listed. Don’t expect to move up, you only get to go to school when it’s in their best interests. When you do get your journeyman certificate don’t expect a raise. Safety is one positive note, the safety person is very active and takes pride in the safety culture. Equipment is outdated and always needing to be fixed, just waiting for the day it causes a serious incident. I wouldn’t work here, other locations may be better but this one is run by incompetent people who are entitled and aren’t open to improving process. 

Typical day at work I would put my coveralls on get all my gear set up at the sandblaster. Then I would use the radio call the forklift guys to get the stuff I need to sandblast then I would begin sandblasting. I would sandblast the metal pieces and get the forklift employee to send it to paint-line to be painted. Some days I would work on paint-line depending if someone was sick or started late. I learned alot of tools and how to fix and dismantle the sandblasting equipment if something gave out or needed repairing I was also told that I had been there best sandblaster they ever had at Meridian and that the work was great. The job was nice until winter because it was outside, no stress, and had a blast doing what I did.

The biggest issue is leadership. Since the management change, favoritism, biased decision-making, and poor communication have become common. Employee feedback is largely ignored, and opportunities often seem based more on relationships than performance. The resulting culture has led to low morale, high frustration, and declining trust throughout the organization.

I can honestly say this is a great company to work for. Good work, laid back no pressure environment. Good vibes both from on the floor and management.  The work is simple ( with experience) , they take care of there hard working employees.  As the add states it’s production work, ( its really not ) sure on a large scale everything is about producing, but there are no tak times or time clocks or people watching over your shoulder.  The pay could be better but it deffinatley reflects the simplicity of the work.  Amazing benefits.

there are two shifts from 6.30 till 3.45 and from 3.45 till 1 a.m ( I`m not sure about evening shift when it ends). Every day is the same, weld what you have to weld and prepare some parts. Plus you have to clean up your workplace between.
they teach me how to weld from scratch which is not bad
no complains about management 
the workplace culture is not bad, except that you have to keep working hard (they don`t like if you talk with someone instead of swiping the floor for instance)
get bored of doing the same job every day
meet some good people there

I have only been at Meridian for a short time, however this company treats its employees well. There is lots of room for growth and the company supports you and will help develop you. The company is a role model for a respectful workplace and I am fortunate to be a part of it. They
