Friendly and accepting, diverse staff.  Enjoyed the casual day to day of being there but was not sure what the company goals or direction were?  Left in the dark by a very absent management and ownership crew.  Too hard to make consistent flat rate hours because of the inconsistent nature of day to day operations.  Overall decent place to work especially if you’re not very ambitious about making 8 hours a day and just want to hang out.   I grew tired of the varying of my pay check and lack of willingness from ownership to direct company mission.   Have heard there is new ownership recently, so not sure if that is still an issue?   

Typical day when I was there would be to wait around until there is enough work that the flat rate techs could have some.  Get the job and go over to parts where surely once a day they will have forgotten to order something or the warehouse would not send or send the wrong part, typical of everywhere in the trade, but I was surprised here because the parts warehouse is huge, but  Didn’t usually stock common parts unless it was an oil filter, so be prepared to have to order everything.   The parts building is not close enough to the shop and the Special tools were not located in a convenient spot,  all on shelf’s in the back corner of parts warehouse.  Most special tools are there but if a tool goes missing it may take months or sometimes years to replace.   They also can’t use the forklift in wet or snowy weather because the back parking lots is barely even gravel, mostly mud and not level at all so there is just a huge puddle all the time and icy slopes that the forklift will get stuck on.  So be prepared to haul large heavy parts from one building to another.   There is no structure to the shop, apprentices are not expected or told to do much and very few of them will help when you need a extra hand despite being straight time.  Shop tools and hoists were the sole responsibility of the foreman and came out of their pay checks, so equipment is rather cheap and old,  really did not like that and made it so that nobody wanted to move up in the shop for fear of having to buy hoists and shop equipment.   Overall the company is blessed with a few long term dedicated employees that manage to make the company get by day to day and I really appreciated getting to learn from those people.  

I worked as a technician here for a while and all I can say is, never get into the automotive trade. While Merlin has its pitfalls (low pay, difficulty getting any holiday time, poor management structure) it is the technician trade as a whole that needs to change. 

One of the worst parts of merlin by far is the fact that they do not care about their employees, or at least it seems that way. The old adage of "the customer is always right" is taken to an extreme and as a tech you will be the first one thrown under the proverbial bus should things go awry. That being said, merlin is full of excellent people to work with, and at least there is a cafeteria upstairs.

There were certainly times of enjoyment visiting with some of the employees around you.  However, very few actually knew what the valet's position is so you would have lots treating you as if you were a service advisor with mechanical expertise, booking appointments, and getting reprimanded if you did something wrong even though there was no training.  I cannot recommend working here due to the lack of training and how many came after you if something was done wrong.

Prior to working here, I was a customer.  I liked how the sales process was helpful and no pressure.  I also appreciated the friendly service advisors.  Now that I have worked here for awhile, I really get excited about all the changes that are coming from autonomous vehicles, electric vehicles and changes to how customers can shop and buy.  

It's been a pleasure working in an environment where there are so many long term dedicated and loyal staff.

Merlin Ford has a lot of good staff and the people are really great, however upper management continues to strip the things that made it a good place to work such as reducing pay while increasing work load, changing rotation system regularly to a less effective way every time...ect

they promise great opportunity then set you up to fail.

There are pros and cons to all dealerships, and businesses in general, for that matter. But as far as dealership go, Merlin is top notch. There’s a reason there are so many long term employees there versus other dealerships with way higher turnover. It’s still the automotive business though and that’s not for everyone. 

As far as Dealerships go, this is the best one I've worked at. Merlin does a good job of balancing the fast paced automotive world with a relaxed culture. Employees are actually encouraged to take their assigned days off and if they work one, they will be given a day off in lieu. This is rare for car dealerships. There also aren't that many days where you'll be expected to work past the posted hours.

Worked in the shop for 7 years, I left due to personal circumstances. Training and certification was always encouraged. The other guys in the shop were great to be around. Management was lacking, implementing a lot of change. Pay was ok, hours were hard to come by some months. Overall it was a good place to learn.

Pay starts alright but they are stuck in old ways that are sloppy extremely unprofessional and extremely rude to customers bunch of old men who don’t want to work anymore but still get a salary to just sit there and not do anything 

Opportunity to make good money if you put in the work. Management was decently helpful. Not the greatest shift schedule though. If you work hard and are good at sales you can succeed at this job.
