A typical day at Metalsmiths was frustrating to be perfectly candid. The reporting structure in theory makes sense (Store Mgr - District Mgr - Ops Team). But as a new manager and a new employee I felt very unsupported and found my DM incredibly unhelpful and even hindering at times.
There was little effective training and I felt that because I wasn't trained properly that I was relying on my newly acquired staff to train me which was unfair to them and didn't look good on the company. 
The Ops team at HO was very supportive however and welcomed phone calls and questions from managers and kept in touch. It was difficult to meet targets though and some of the expectations set out were difficult to meet and maintain. 
Interacting with customers was always enjoyable though and the work itself was not difficult. If it weren't for the unpleasant experience with upper management and the clumsy chain of command it would have been a great place to work.

Cabinets cleaned on a daily basis so we could keep all products up to par and to ensure customer satisfaction. Learned about different types of metals, natural and artificial stones (ie. Birthstones, Rhine stones, etc.), everything in store is made of 925 Sterling Silver. High Quality products sold by high quality staff members who can answer any question you may have. Management is excellent, very understanding and willing to help out the staff with whatever is needed, whether that would be product information or a schedule issue. Hardest part of the job would have to be finding the right sizes/length of rings of bracelets or the color of stone. The store doesn't carry all sizes/length of the products and all stones are natural so they may not be the shade the customer might want. The most enjoyable part of the job was working with the staff and customers. Extremely friendly environment and work place.

A typical day at work is spent making conversation with customers to make a bond with them. This helps with making sales. I learned how to speak comfortably with customers and how to sell fine pieces of jewelry and suggest new items to customers. Management at Metalsmiths Sterling is great because they keep us busy with different tasks throughout the shift and they tend to any issues/concerns we may have. Our store is a very diverse and professional place to work. All the store across Canada and the States communicate with each other over our computer system to help each other out if anyone has any questions. The hardest part of the job is most people don't come to the airport to buy jewelry so I feel it is much more hard to make sales at that store, than it would be if I was working in a different location. The most enjoyable part of the job is being able to make a connection/bond with some of the customers that come by.

Toronto Pearson Airport was Metalsmiths Sterling's introduction into the GTA.  It is a Canadian company, Canadian designed and all the manufacturing is done in Italy.  The products were amazing and intricately designed for  all walks of life. 

The hardest part of the job was the very long hours.  Some days I would be working from 5 AM until 10:30 PM and have to do it all over again the next day.  Sometimes, I wouldn't be able to go home at night due to the lack of public transportation being available causing me to have to sleep at the airport over night.

Fortunately, I am still very happy to have worked for Metalsmiths Sterling as my area manager and operations team were extremely helpful and very much involved when I needed any questions answered.  Along with upper management, my employees were very dedicated and loyal to the team and company.

sorry but the second management came and tried to "fix" everything, they unmotivated us a lot

it gets very tiring after standing for more than 5 hours
coworkers are amazing and fun but the best people left as soon as management came
just dont work here because they make a big fuss about every little thing 
they need to calm down a little bit 
also, they should consider the employees physiological needs a little more and calm down about their new sitting policy 
doesn't always get busy and gets boring a lot while theres nothing to do and were not even allowed to look or even glane at our cell phones

I very much enjoy working for Metalsmiths. The owners are wonderful and the upper management is great!! I have worked at numerous locations across Edmonton and have traveled to Winnipeg. I find it to be a fun place to work and grow. I have learned so much about sales and jewelry over the years, the staff at all the stores a great and are all like family to each other and are always more then willing to help each other out. The hardest part of this job is at times the customers, but at the same time i feel that the customers are also the best part of this job. I love seeing the happiness that finding the right piece of jewelry and great customer brings to people.

I have worked at metalsmiths for 8 months part time.  They recently closed our store with literally no notice.  Now they are withholding final pay cheques.  It has been nearly a month since we closed and we still have not been paid.  My colleagues and myself have officially filed complaints with the Labour board and have a case worker.  I spoke with her today and the company will not return her calls thus far.  
I am not owed that much because I worked part time...but it is hours that I did not expect to be working for free.  My manager and the other full time are relying on this money for rent etc.  This is beyond unprofessional...its immoral.

Yes i had a typical day whenever the store was not busy or no customer.

The hardest part of the the job is cleaning the jewels again and again and again....

The most enjoyable part when i made customer to buy the jewels whatever they exactly want and they walked out with smile and satisfied heart. And whenever the store got new product I really enjoyed to know about those new product and replenished them in the designated showcase. Last but not least, happy to get the 40% employee discount.

A typical day at work would be interacting with customers and trying to meet their needs to the best of my ability. 

I learned how to interact with customers, and lots of customer experience. 

Management was amazing always smiling and telling me and helping me out if I am doing something wrong.

Co-workers were always smiling and friendly, i worked with a very respectful team.

There was really nothing hard at this job.

The most enjoyable part of this job was working in a team environment and co-operating with others.

The company itself is great to work for, although it is hard to balance both work and a social life. On a regular day the job can be slow but productive to our cleaning schedule. Management is usually busy but responsive, the workplace is very positive and willing to help. The hardest part of the job along with all retail work is the angry customers that don't want to listen to reason. The part I most enjoy is meeting new people and learning new things about the jewelry pieces and the stones used in the company.
