Job life balance: 24/7 shift work so balance is difficult for this reason.
Salary/benefits: salary is below a living wage in Nova Scotia. Benefit plan changed in 2022. 
Job security: unionized is better than no union so it’s decently secure.
Management: this is the area that has a real problem. Members of Management covers up for each Other, lie or gaslight employee’s when workers do make complaints. The board of directors are sadly clueless and given the amount of responsibility they hold they should not have heads in the sand. 
Management and HR are a huge problem here. The rave reviews seem suspicious to me as they do not reflect the reality I’ve heard and experienced in over the years I’ve worked here. Not all of the management is toxic but the ones that are toxic displaying unfair, inequitable and unethical treatment adding to the high turnover.  

The clients are incredible! I've worked for a few agencies in the field and nothing compares to this one. The best part of the job is supporting the clients to achieve their goals and live in the community successfully. Advocation is a big part of the job, whether it's advocating with a doctor, employment opportunities, or with Department of Community Services. It is a home environment and you build strong connections with those you work with. At times the job can be stressful, but it can be very laidback as well. The pandemic changed the atmosphere a bit and there is some staff burnout, but we are recovering and I believe it will be even better than before.

It use to be an amazing place to work and I recommended it to many people. Now, I would never suggest anyone apply to work with this agency. Staff morale is low, they can't keep enough staff to keep the place running well, new management consists of the ED's friends and has become very cliquey... It's not a pleasant environment at all.
I hope the current staff in management either change how they run the place and treat the staff better, especially staff who have been there for decades, or the board terminates the extremely problematic employees within management.

If you live to work, then this is a great place to be. Don’t expect them to have an ounce of compassion towards anything to do with their staff. Seeing fellow staff members need help Due to having medical issues, childcare issues, mental health issues, along other issues that I have experienced working there management does not care about any of it. I would advise anyone looking to work in mental health to stay far away from this organization, they expect you to work to the absolute bone or giving no compassion in return because they say that they treat staff like family, but that is an absolute lie.

This is a great organization to work for.  The clients are wonderful and the management team really cares about the employees.  Salaries are determined by the NS Government through bargaining, so the employer tries to offer other incentives when able.  Staff are dedicated and professional.  There’s lots of different services to work in if you want to expand your skills and there’s been several opportunities for advancement in the past few years. 

This is a good company if you want to gain experience in the field however the pay for the work is terrible, people will guilt trip you into taking shifts, upper management is complete chaos. I quite enjoyed my supervisor and some of my coworkers but a lot are of employees are there to make a pay check and don’t care about clients well being. The hours are long and are a lot of work which still needs to be done even if you’re short staffed. Upper management will blame you if they make a mistake. 

This has been my experience - and it's been nothing but awesome:
- work with a team that really cares about each other
- our supervisor is always looking out for us
- we just had a staff appreciation event
- the people we support fill me up every day
- we get to work in a home like environment and celebrate birthdays, holidays
- we make the best of the hard stuff as a team, there's bound to be hard stuff in this field but it's also extremely purposeful work.

Excellent work environment with supportive co-workers and supervisors. Support up to 5 individuals in their daily living skills and work endeavors. The most difficult part of this job is juggling the many social workers and caseworkers per residential client, makes it challenging to attain goals. The most enjoyable part is the increase of social activities and skills of each client.

I love this agency! I enjoy everyone from the participants, to the staff, to the management team. I have always been treated fairly and with the upmost repect. From what I can see, the management truely considers the wellbeing of not only the participants but the employees as well. I can't say enough wonderful things about this agency honestly! 

I worked this firm for mor than 4 months as a casual, I strongly felt that anybody in this place is supportive towards the casual staffs. MCH offered me Mental health Support Worker and ended up in a cleaning jobs and the title is RCW. Apart from this there is a enough pressure to take more shift from the house. Most of the supervisors are less knowledgeable for this field and they want to fill the staff.
