There were a couple of individuals within management who were truly exceptional; however the dynamics between the rest of the people mixed with the chaotic nature of the work created instability for new workers. Flaggers are the lowest level on the spectrum. The next step is Lane Control tech and this position provides the living wage and has all the perks. The gap between the two is massive. The industry has many companies but little loyalty where flaggers are concerned and you always hear how they are short workers. Work for TCP’s/LCT’s is seasonal, simply by its nature- outdoor work affected by the weather. There are safety nets for seasonal workers, but the Industry including Metro seem very reluctant to inform their workers that the safety net exists let alone assist them in securing this option. It’s counterintuitive to not assist the workers in remaining solvent while they attempt to gain a solid footing in the industry. Truth be told I liked working for Metro, but I felt like I was left flapping in the wind and it was beyond my comprehension why they wouldn’t help me secure myself financially (wouldn’t cost them a dime)until I could move up to a more secure position. 

Working with this company as a traffic control person is sometimes rewarding when you’re working with good people. The issue I found with this company is they have a lot of miserable staff which will make the days feel longer and harder than needed.

Dispatch is rude and will make your life harder if you don’t lick their boots. Very bad communication between the management team, if you’ve got an issue that needs to be resolved you will be told different things by different members of management. If you wanna make a quick buck for a few weeks or months and don’t mind the scrutiny, id say this is the job. I wouldn’t recommend keeping this position with this company long term.

What is the best part of working at the company?
A lot of really great people. Everybody works their tookus off to make everyone feel like a team member😁

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
There was some miscommunication and difficulties getting the equipment I needed but eventually it worked out they got it there and everything was perfect. Team work!!!!

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Team oriented, supportive staff and great friends at the end of the day

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Sometimes beyond crazy and sometimes beyond boring.

If you secure a good crew you’re golden.
I recommend having LCT experience because that’s where you get the most out of Metro.
Management is straightforward, sometimes a little stern but professional & to the point.
With traffic control you can expect some stressful jobs so be prepared to think fast & move quick.
The hardest part of the job would be inexperience, it gets easier the longer you work in the field.
The most enjoyable part of the job is being outside, doing events, & having a good team.

The best part was working outside, regardless of weather. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The office staff were not very approachable and did not deal with issues correctly. If they were union, they would be on strike. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Outdoor and diverse. No issues with this with flaggers or techs.

The worst company I ever worked at there is no team work just talk about team work and the flaggers that are already working there  very intimated with new people as well as very intimated with experienced new flaggers people. Do not apply for work here as this company goes through flaggers the way the res of us goes through toilette paper.

Metro Traffic Management has the best team in the traffic control industry. Appreciated,  seen as a person and not a number. I only resigned because I moved to Prince George. 

They will promise you the world of you’re a rockstar flagger but that they won’t give you enough jobs to cover rent, never mind gear required too do your job. Forget even trying to work for them if you don’t have a car

Overall my experiance with Metro has been very gratifying.They have a you can do this approach and give you oppurtunity to become a forever employee .

Everything, this is a dangerous job.
