What is the best part of working at the company?
Great company to work for. Family owned. I worked the coastal gas pipeline for a couple years with michels and look forward to the next line 2024.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
The one thing is have to say the lack of communication. Alot of us pipeline guys fly in from all over country to give our expertise . The lack of communication left a lot of stranded in hotels looking for flights when they shut our camp down.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Breakfast, bus ride, toolbox talk, operate your machine all go back to camp. Be safe and mindful of others

Worked as Project Engineer for Michels Canada in Infrastructure.
-Junior contactor in the Canadian space, a lot of opportunity to advance if you can last
-Organizationally a bit disorganized. Lacks standard procedures and systems to aid in construction. Could improve by passing on knowledge and lessons learned from previous projects (lacks currently)
-Large downsizing in 2023-2024
-Very lean team, high workload, and high-stress
-High turnover on project
-Immediate management supportive but also generates a semi-toxic work environment through micromanagement
-  Lack of project specific experience in management

The people and the work. It's a very respectful work place with good working conditions. From the top down it's a great company to be a part of.

Probably depends on what job your own and your trade. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
It's great. Everyone looks out for each other. Safety is big at Michels 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
I drove a crew bus which meant keeping the bus maintained and safe. Getting the crew to and from sites. Keeping the bus full of supplies for the crew. Cleaning the inside of the bus  and getting the outside washed when needed.  I would sometimes jump on other equipment as needed.

I have worked at Michels Canada for the last year throughout the pandemic, and they have demonstrated strong inclusion principles while handling the sensitive nature of working from home, and supporting their employees. During the Pandemic, I have actually had the most professional growth opportunities than any other year in my career. The company is family owned and has a people-first attitude. I am extremely proud to work for Michels Canada, and I would recommend them to anyone who is interested in moving into heavy construction across Canada. Great job Michels Canada!

Excellent support staff and a family feel.

The competition, and sometimes the backstabbing between employees. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very safety oriented and progressive. We always were aware of the fact that Michels Canada is at thetop of the pile for places to work. The best pay, excellent treatment and human relations.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Just a normal work day. Focus on safety, dont look at your phone. Stay alert.

This organization was once a great place to work, but communication from leadership has significantly declined. Employees are often left in the dark about new projects and changes in scope, learning about them informally rather than through official channels.

Additionally, there is a lack of collaboration between departments, leading to a culture of competition rather than teamwork. Departments operate in silos, prioritizing self-preservation over collective success, which creates an environment of uncertainty and fear of layoffs.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Good supervision organized company and Peoper knowledge of all aspects of pipeline industry

Meeting specific deadlines and over the top equipment maintenance

Working with other people very plesent work environment 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Start with daily toolgate meetings, Field risk accessments, and Task of the day and target expected.

I have interviewed with Michel's numerous times all to get denied for some silly HR reason but yet they tend to hire all the wrong people which results in the jobs being posted again and again. Their recruiting and HR is completely lost and no clue. The results speak for themselves. 

They keep reaching out to me then ghost me. Michel's is a great company to work for, unfortunately their HR and recruitment processes make it difficult and cumbersome for anyone

I enjoyed working at Michels since I was in BEST hands and my manager was a good leader who does stand for his team.
