A typical day is not a boring day. Every day is different as this is a heath field that I work in so it is for ever changing. I am learning new things daily and enjoy my job and my team mates. We can make the job fun and do a great job as well.

The hardest part would be the down sizing of our services as our elderly with chronic conditions. So we have had a number of deaths related to medical issues. Losing a client/resident can be hard.

I have a great supervisor that has taught me a lot in the past years. I get along well with my team at work as well as off time.

The most enjoyable part of my job is going home and having a feeling of pride and that I made a difference in some ones life that may not have had an opportunity of an outing, hug or a walk around the block. It's not necessarily big things that count; it’s all the little things that do add up.

I’ve worked for the GOA for 40+ years.  I have had some really good supervisors and I’ve had one or two bad ones.  There are way too many levels of management which makes for bad experiences and way too much waste of time waiting for one approval or another.  Government tends to waste way to much paper by implementing far to many forms and there is always something holding up any and all processes.  I have gotten along with managers quite well for the most part.  For the past three years or so the managers at Michener Services have become bullies who refuse to acknowledge the fact that we are there to support the individuals who live there, nor do they hear the staff when things aren’t going well due to poor upper management decisions.  

What is the best part of working at the company?
Exceptional individuals that are so welcoming and love being cared for.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Can’t think of anything stressful. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Super supportive - very much like a family.

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Just like a family day. Wake up, breakfasts, baths, snacks, lunch, outings and drives, supper and tv, laundry and bedtime routines. Very pleasant.

Shifting 
Had lots of training offered throughout years of service
Had various management personal so on the whole they were fine
Working the different shifts were a little rough, but mandatory so did what needed to be done.
The staff on the whole were enjoyable to work with with the occasional exception.

Good organization to advance learning abilities. Positive outcomes for people with disabilities. Most difficult part is balancing the stress of decisions that you do not necessarily agree with.
I have increased my knowledge and skills through working with this organization.

Challenging, fun, light work load. I had to use my initiativeness to find anything to do when routine work was done. I was a bit bored due to lack of work to be done. I love working there though. Co-workers were fun to work with when there was work to be finished. I often offer to do the other guys work just to get busy.

Job is great . No complain
Management don't value  emotional well being.

Employees were treated as low keys value 

Stressful job to switching  different locations


Constant change with no clear change management plan. A lot of micro-managing, and little autonomy.  
Does not feel like management is supportive of employees expanding and developing skills in other GOA positions.  
If you are good at your job, you are rewarded with more work, while others have work decreased. 

.I worked here for 6 years and was a great experience. I started as casual and advanced quickly into a salaried position. I enjoyed the care I was able to provide to the clients I worked with. It was rewarding to be a part of the nourishing of their lives.

it's a good place to work with. the management provide good training on every staff , the staff and home coordinators are nice to work with and very helpful, the most enjoyable part of the job is seeing smiles on the individuals that you work with makes my day happy.
