Middlesex Terrace

Worked here for years as an RPN and loved both frontline staff and the residents. Management however is unsupportive and are quite frankly, bullies. There were many incidences of being talked to aggressively by management where it was as if they were trying to find reasons to get you into trouble, even if you had done nothing wrong. This obviously leads to stress being at work in an already stressful environment where you are often working short-staffed. If management decides they do not like you (I am quite shy, so it is not as if I am difficult to work with or confrontational), they handle situations unprofessionally with you. I left for another job in an environment with more active union support and bosses who are good leaders that care for the well-being of staff and residents.

Middlesex Terrace is not designed to provide a homelike atmosphere.  It is a cold, dark building that does not allow residents to have free movement throughout the home.
The tub rooms are possibly one of the worst I have ever scene, with little space to actually provide care to residents and little privacy.
Most of the staff do what they can with the little resources they have.
Management was not  very approachable and often belittled staff members who were trying their best to provide the best care they possibly could.
Would not recommend Middlesex Terrace to job seekers or as a place for someone to call home.

Workload is very heavy and overwhelming when short-staffed — they are always short-staffed. The day shift workers were the most negative and rudest workers I've ever worked with, most new staff and younger staff strictly only work evening shifts because of this. Although the residents themselves are lovely, limited resources made it difficult to provide quality care for them. Only pro is flexible scheduling as they are quite desperate for staff. 

Management is awful. They wouldn't be so short staffed if they didn't harass and terminate the employees who can competently work with little to no direction. Zero appreciation from management, and when you do bring attention to an issue, it may as well be your fault. The work environment is extremely toxic, the managers encouraged this environment, and its clear that there are cliques in the units. 

Management wasn’t very involved, nurses kind of took over that role, some were great and some not so great. Could be a very catty environment. Instructions were often contradictory and unclear. Typical healthcare setting. Not awful but would have loved some consistency and better communication all around. 

I enjoyed my position at the nursing home immensely. I dealt with the patients and their daily needs for 6 years. I then took a position in the kitchen as it was 7-3. This allowed me to spend more time with the patients. I was also on the executive board of local 302 where I mastered in WSIB. Sadly I had to leave this job because of my health.

Friendly staff and management. They work with you and your schedule. Very caring about staff and residents

Management barely acknowledges screeners, let alone supports. Poor communication and little support. When attempted to communicate with management about issues, they brushed me aside, therefore I had to reach out to multiple people before I received any solutions.

Fun place to work. Staff very much come together well when needed. Teamwork is a huge asset to working there . Decent politics and red tape. Most enjoyable part is constant change in routine. I like change.

I have been working there for over three years and have loved every minute of it.when entering the workplace i have never once felt like i didn't want to work, the residents, staff and management have always been there in the best way possible
