Band Chief and council interference consistently, board of directors have NO Business skills or abilities....Band members that are Union Members run to Chief and Council when faced with issues, thereby creating potential legal problems with the International Unions if other non band members take issue and file a grievances...very toxic... supervision from lead hands, foreman, general foreman, supers and management seem to lack knowledge or fall victim to the organizational culture...

Stay away! too much personal information gets leaked out from chief and council and company HR. You do well if you are related to any member of C&C, no standard discipline or OHS rules apply if you are a relation. 

There is proof of  harassment and money laundering, however yet senior management and HR do nothing. Everyone is scared to take action on band members fo rfear of back lash from C&C. 

A complete waste of time to be working here, I can hardly wait to go work for another company and see how a real company is run

Work involved more with Financial Reporting of results achieved in Contracts with Suncor, Syncrude , Shell and Nexen.
Proficiency gained in SAP witj implementation and conversion of software. 
Working with Customers in seting labor, equipment rates and budgeting, signing of contracts.
Challenging part was to keep performance standards in par with Customers.
Enjoyable part was challenges faced with everyday work.

My overall experience with mikisew was positive. At times Leadership was lacking and the relationship between workers was similar to that of high school drama.  But thankfully Those instances were few and far inbetween. Its really up to you the individual to set your own standards. As long as you work safe and efficiently you will be just fine. This company lacks management skills, period! Better management is severly needed. This company is native owned with a high level of racisim towards cultures other then their own. Although if a person wants to work long hours and make money and can put up with what has been listed, consider this company.

Typical day includes wasting time on HR issues that surround "their people" favortisim and back door deals on behalf of C&C has allowed the company to turn into the mess it is in today. If you are a new applicant stay away while you still have your sanity

start of shift, we had a group meeting to start the day. fill out a hazard risk assessment card. then do our duties for the day. after each break and before any new assignments we are to up date the cards with additional hazards that we might encounter.

Learned how to operate loader, sand truck, skid steer and maintenance on skid steer like greasing machine, cleaning filters, checking hydraulic oil and fuel levels.
I liked using skid steer for snow removal

Days were constantly busy
If you needed to ask a question someone was always there to help
They treated me like family 
Lots of fun
Best job I’ve ever had!

great wages with good easy going seasonal snow removal work. management can be difficult to work with at times but the job is good and pay is great. enjoyed working here
