A very TOXIC work environment.  The lack of interest in the property starts at the top and works its way down. The General Manager no longer even bothers to learn staffs names let alone speak to them. 
The F/B manager tells you he has an "open door policy" to speak to him about issues, however he is never actually there. 
Staff is expected to be available to the Millcroft 24/7. They don't care whether you have a family, they expect your first priority to be work. 
Hours are long because you are constantly working understaffed. It is not unusual to work 12-14 hour days in the restaurant without a break. However, the company will still deduct 30 minutes pay from you even when you aren't allowed to take a lunch. You are expected to work every weekend and every holiday. If you do take time off, punishment will follow on the next schedule. You either will be working everyday or not at all.  You are also not going to be given the tools to do your job. Its embarrassing that management of a four diamond restaurant will not bother to buy tools for servers to do their jobs. There are never enough teapots, wine glasses, cutlery...the list goes on and on. Its not unusual for servers to have to handwash things in the middle of service in order to serve a table who just sat. Not sanitary at all. Servers are expected to serve management and you will only receive a ten percent gratuity from them (company policy) and then you are expected to give 2.5 percent of that tip to the supervisors at the end of the day. Management takes advantage of these accounts and brings their family in for endless meals and drinks and allows their spouses to mistreat the employees.
Servers are expected to tip out management, who already make gratuities off of the corporate functions and are salaried employees.
There is a lot of heavy, repetitive lifting up and down flights of stairs. Injuries are inevitable. When you do get injured management acts like you have done something wrong. They do not bother to fix what injures people.
Do not go to HR. They have absolutely no interest in you unless you are management. 
Supervisors who work in the restaurant are very catty and will give out sections based on whether they are happy with you that day or not. Everyone has favourites and it is more than noticable. 
Vintage should be embarrassed by the way this property is being taken care of but they seem only interested in their properties in NOTL. Bottem line, for such a huge company it is sad and embarrassing how this place is being run and how their employees are being treated. If you take a job here you will be mistreated, but rest assured its not personal, its how they treat everyone.

A typical day you are running around with always something to do. It entails of, making coffee, serving food and other beverages,  and setting up for dinner parties and events. There is a lot of work that is involved when you become a member of he Millcroft team but the staff are very friendly! The management is always making sure you're comfortable with what your doing, and help you as much as possible.
         The hardest part of the job is making sure everything is precise. Everything needs to be done a certain way. It is a four diamond establishment and they want to ensure people get what they pay for.
        The most enjoyable part of the of was working  weddings and events. Every week there is something going on and to be apart of it and see the decorations and the process of weddings, etc is just an incredible experience to be apart of.

Management is unengaged and uncaring of their staff. They have treated their employees horribly and overworked them and they have all left for that reason. the employees that are left are being made to work multiple jobs for minimum wage. guests are constantly displaying their disappointment with the entire facility and nothing is being done about it. management is overlooking all major concerns and it WILL fall on their employees. they choose not to hire in the departments that truly need it because they “don’t have the money” yet are building a whole new facility. instead, they will run their current employees into the ground having them work multiple jobs in one sitting.

Overall I really enjoy working for the Millcroft Inn & Spa, hours are not long and management is extremely accommodating with your personal schedule. Like any company there are some executive decisions that don't particularly make sense to me, however that could be because I am not working at the top and dealing with budgets, other employees and managers etc. 

The work environment is great, and the people you work with are fantastic! 

Overall, great place to work.

Depending on my start time, I would either set up the conference room or clear it for the next day.
If meals were being served I would serve to conference patrons and then clear dishes.  Make sure beverages are available, make fresh coffee if needed.  Return any dirty dishes to the kitchen, load dishwasher of conference room dishes. Take out all garbage and linen.  pick up or turn keys to front desk.
If I was working independently it was hard to move tables on my own to set for next day.
Sometimes the kitchen staff would bring treats to the staff lunchroom, the salmon was amazing.

Very fast paced place to work in the kitchen. You are looked down upon for taking breaks and you hardly get a chance to eat or drink water. You do get free staff meals which is nice, if you get a chance to eat it.
Cooks don't get any tips which seems unfair to me. 
Wage is much too low for how stressful and how hard the job is. Long hours and working every holiday is definitely a downer. 
People there are mostly nice and they take you in like a family, but management is all talk on how much they appreciate you but won't give you the wage or respect in other departments to prove this.

In my time working there, I found most of the staff to be friendly and quite positive. 
When days were running behind and everyone pitched in there were a couple ladies, who were actually the "leads" could be rather nasty. The attitudes and behavior was demeaning and rude.
There was also too much expectations to work while sick, personally I'd rather someone who's not well, stay far away and not risk spreading their germs.

Everyone who is hired is 14-16 year olds who goof off on their phones the whole shift, management doesn't know how to properly train or communicate with their employees, not up to standard food is served. Gluten free customers are eating gluten bread half the time. 99% of the pots and coffee stuff and dishes are actually still dirty and they just use it anyways. Would not recommend anyone to stay here for the restaurant for dinner. breakfast and lunch is different

The MillCroft definitely expects their employees to go above and beyond not only for dining room guests but for events and the spa as well. If you’re good at your job you will be trained in everything which has its perks but being good at your job means less social times. Management is also understanding if your honest with them from the start.
