I was told before I took this job that I’d regret it, and while I don’t regret all my time at MiLo, there are somethings I wish I didn’t happen. 

Management could take more responsibility and be more active within their leadership role, instead of a “figure it out boys” kind of attitude. I believe the foreman would be less stressed on-site.
 
You never really know where your going until just days before. And even then it changes constantly. 
With such a short notice it was very hard on my family to hear that that I’d be gone for the rest of the month.
I’ve even packed my bag and left for the three weeks just to show back up at home 15m later because things changed. 

While working don’t be surprised to get called about the trucks GPS and in turn be questioned on your integrity as a person. 
I felt like there was no trust here.

But…. There are favourites in the shop.. maybe you can become one! I didn’t have the luck. 

“You won’t have to look for work” means you’ll be looking for work in 2 months. 

Now… The field employees are a team you would be happy to call yourself a part of. Great guys out there. 
My plumbing colleagues told me the electrical side of Milo is waaayyy harder to make it in, he’s right. 

The role offers real-world drafting experience, especially for new graduates. However, the lack of structured training, vague expectations, and poor compensation make it hard to grow or feel supported. Management expresses vision but doesn't follow through on key areas like feedback, training, or fair pay. This may be suitable for someone wanting only experience but not for those with a strong background expecting to be valued fairly. It's a decent place to gain initial experience and get your foot in the door, but I'd recommended to keep your options open and continue looking elsewhere. 

This company I worked for 4 months, some of the people are nice (3 at the time) the rest were hotheaded or impatient for learners coming out of a different environment. Jobs were rushed at the ones I was at because of poor crew management and people were overworked and when days off came you had to head out 2-3 days earlier on your days off because of the push and the deadline. Good luck if you're trying to apply and when December comes and you're new, you'll be the one going home without a job the next year!

The pay is great but there are sudden layoffs even if they give you a letter of employment and there is a quite a bit of miscommunication between managers and other employees in the company. As well you might be out of province for 3 weeks at a time and only be back for 3-5 days. Some of the employees are great and the managers do as much as they can to be flexible with your schedule and they are friendly but there are ALOT of hardass attitudes and foremen and the owners are very cutthroat.

MiLo was nothing but accommodating to me even through an injury that I sustained a month after being hired that took me out for 2 months.  9 out of 10 company's would lay someone off under those circumstances. Almost all of the employees and foremen I've worked with are great. They are people that I would, and have, gone for a beer with after hours. The pay is great which is what drew me in but it is now secondary to the awesome atmosphere. Tough to find a job like this. 

If you want to work for a company that treats you like a dog, work here. The turnover rate here is ridiculous because the only reason people stay is the good pay, and that can only get you so far. If you want to run jobs for them and get paid the same as the other journeymen, work here. If you want to go over and above and never get a thank you, let alone a bonus, work here.

Recent change in management has brought a refreshing team based vibe. Working here comes with some travel but the pay is great and I have really enjoyed working with the field staff. If you can handle some responsibility and like a fast paced team environment this is a great place to work. 

Worked at a very unorganized site where I spent a good portion of my day self assigning tasks. The journeyman have no regard for safety or OH&S standards. One fellow was constantly smoking, inside and out, on the lifts, no regard for fellow employees

This is a company the truly puts its employees first. They are well organized and provide good value for their clients while keeping appropriate profit margins.

Great place to work. New project managers are supportive and have provided a great working atmosphere. Wide variety of experiences for type of work and locations in Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan. New project managers have provided a good working environment
