I hesitate to share specific details due to lack of trust in how the company handles feedback; but I feel compelled to warn others. 

Typical Day at Work:
Each day is unpredictable. Constant changes with short notice lead to confusion and frustration. Employees often lack adequate training or support while facing increased pressure to perform and being under scrutiny in challenging situations.

What I Learned:
My experience at the company taught me that success is less about hard work and more about being vocal, taking credit for others’ achievements, and currying favor with leadership. 

Management:
Management often lacks strategic thinking and logical decision-making, contributing to disorganized operations. Their approach is characterized more by emotional responses than rational analysis, leading to inefficiencies and a prevailing culture of favoritism.

Workplace Culture:
The culture is toxic, primarily due to ongoing downsizing and arbitrary firings, which create an atmosphere of distrust. Employees often feel unsupported, and the lack of adequate training fosters a culture of fear where mistakes are penalized instead of being viewed as opportunities for growth. While most employees are nice, underlying hostility exists between departments.

The Hardest Part of the Job:
Accepting that you can give your all and still walk in one day to find you no longer have a job.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Change is expected in any growth-oriented organization, but frequent and abrupt strategic reversals can create frustration, inefficiency, and burnout. Decision-making often feels reactive, and accountability is unevenly applied when initiatives do not deliver expected results.

While the company communicates an interest in internal growth, advancement opportunities are limited, and transitions into higher-responsibility roles are not always well-supported. This can create challenges for managers stepping into new positions without adequate guidance or resources.

Overall, this can be a reasonable short-term opportunity for individuals early in their management careers seeking exposure to multi-site operations. However, experienced professionals looking for stability, structured leadership development, and clear long-term direction may find the environment challenging.

Unfortunately, my experience aligned with what many others have shared. Management frequently engages in unprofessional behavior, including gossiping about and mocking staff. There’s a clear lack of appreciation for employees, and the work environment often feels demoralizing.

Compensation is below industry average, and although bonuses were outlined in the contract, they were not honored correctly.  Never offer to help with another site as you will not be paid for it.  Staff are expected to eat in the office, with little regard for work-life balance or employee well-being, also constant monitoring including phone calls and being watched on the cameras.

The People & Culture department, rather than being a supportive resource, tends to mirror the same issues seen in upper management — offering little support or accountability.

If you're looking for a place where your voice matters and hard work is recognized, this may not be the right fit.

Mini Mall St. Albert has been a fantastic place to work. The management team are cheerful and supportive and really capture the team leader aspect of management. My manager leads by example and does so with compassion for learning. My coworkers are the embodiment of team members. When there's something to be done the work is split evenly and fairly with realistic expectations for timely completion with a strong sense of understanding towards asking for help. I've felt very included right away in my employment to the point that I look forward to clocking in.

The job of Storage Concierge Specialist is a comfortable mix of Office, Security, and Audit work that never leaves you sitting in a chair all day, without making you exhausted either. If you are looking for a fair wage for fair work, this is the place to be.

Recently, upper management has even made efforts to improve compensation for everyone to match the ever rising price of living we all face.

The first couple of weeks I was enjoying it- Seemed to be a good company to work for but it definitely started to change. Unless you’re the type to agree and say yes to everything you won’t fit it. Things started to changed- we were asked to work holidays 2 days before the holiday, store hours started to change and it wasn’t an ask, it was a tell.  Upper management in Calgary really seem to care about the company and there staff- my direct manager was new to her position and the communication was terrible and honestly made me feel less than.  I came into work everyday and did a fantastic job, sales were great and increased my overall occupancy in a short period and still felt undervalued each day. After weeks of feeling on edge and honestly just feeling terrible  coming into work each day, I quit. Upper management in Calgary seem to actually care and want to see there employees succeed- it’s more the middle people (PM and ROM).  

My day consists of operating the business. It is my responsibility to tend to the needs of customers, staff and the company.  The hardest part can be when the needs of the customers conflict with the needs of the company. I have to use my best judgement to find a common ground that will satisfy both and have been successful over the years. I have learned how to operate a business, accounting programs, payroll and the ability to handle any situation that arises. There are many parts of the job that I enjoy, but the main things I like about the job is, I can work independently, I enjoy working with our customers, the staff, upper management and the various responsibilities and the challenges that arise. The company appreciates me and all the work that I do.

When we used to rent uhaul equipment and customers wouldn’t return rentals on time

Comfortable and inviting. Customers were always able to ask questions and get appropriate answer in a timely and respectful manner

Answering phones, doing grounds check, taking cust payments and calling clients when payments were due.

Family oriented company . They provided help and advice when needed.

The change from mom and pop type operation to corporate style of operation and management

A great company to work for! My Regional Manager and team members are always there to help and anyone is a team chat away from advising or lending a hand. The company encourages input, ideas, and creativity. A collaborative team of co workers from across Canada, along with a management team that is always available to teach, listen and problem solve. 
Company offers pay on par with work required, great benefits and Incentives. 
Best of all great team of co workers and management always there to support and  
share knowledge.

Manager and r.o.m seem very unprofessional and untrained they pass the buck when anything goes wrong and take credit for your ideas to improve or fix anything.

Work alone company seems to have a great culture but not enforced by this areas rom .

Alone at a desk answering leads .waiting for clients to come in .
