Processing nutrient management strategies submitted by consultants and farmers, verifying that all information in included in the submission.  Accurate data entry of information to ensure that all criteria is met.  Managing day to day tasks in a timely and efficient manner to keep work flow moving at a reasonable pace.  I've learned that open communication between internal and external clients is key in ensuring information is being delivered smoothly and effectively.  Collaboratively working in a team environment alleviates stress on one individual.   The hardest part of the job is delivering a regulatory program to individuals who are set in their ways and accustomed to doing things a certain way and convincing them that change is good for them and the environment.  The most enjoyable part of my job is talking with the clients who understand and accept a regulatory program and getting recognition for doing a good job.

As the Statistician my day can vary significantly, for example some days are spent playing with data while others are spent in the field interacting with farmers, though not trained in agriculture i hav ebeen a practising small farmer for more than 20 years and enjoy researching new technologies in agriculture. This means I get to offer advice to farmers in my interaction with them this is especially rewarding for me.
I actually studied economics at the university of the West Indies so I get to work on economic projects within my department which is the Economic Planning Unit.
I am currently leading a project to develop an Agriculture Market Information System for the Ministry.
One of the most enjoyable parts of the job is the opportunities I have been exposed to travel to many parts of the hemisphere especially central and south America.

A typical day at work when i achieved the goal on the proposed agenda in an effective and organized way.
i learned to be a team member putting into consideration the benefit of the country.
Management is the umbrella that controlling the quality of work and the effectiveness of the regulations linked to that work.

My work experience in the ministry of agriculture is pretty good. Working to help farmers to find solutions to their problems or my work with other colleagues, planning, and sharing ideas. always trying to foster good farming practices and planning through land husbandry and with the help of gis resources. I feel that I am an important technician for farmers and the cooperate community in the district

Productive and axhausting work place, work place where one must be self oriented and self starter with no or little supervision. There is a lot of traveling to farmers on daily basis doing individual farmer visits or group farmer visits where we teach and upgrade the knowledge of farmers interms of agriculture activities. We do field days where we show farmer practice.

Work was fun and challenging but once I was trained, it was an awesome place to work and an easy job. There were a lot of opportunities to create my own work routine, which I really liked. I enjoyed the autonomy I had while I worked there. Everyone was so nice and great to work with.

My work experience in the ministry of agriculture was pretty good. I feel that I was an important technician not only for farmers, consumers, also for my country.

The first training i met on going,i spent the rest of the day entry information and printing.I interact more with my co-workers,have fun,and the hardest part of this job is when there is a training,I enjoy the work when i am in the office receiving praises about the entry i sent to the international sponsors.

working for the ministry of agriculture is a great experience especially if you have no prior work experience. its a great place to start your career journey and new life from tertiary education. you learn how to work and interact with others and how to manage an organisation as a team.

following and implementing food inspection safety regulations in slaughterhouses, different side of health and safety. hardest part of job is watching animals being slaughtered. most enjoyable part is that your done work by 2:45pm
