Mitsui High-Tec

A typical day here at Mitsui high-tec was very unpredictable but in a very good way, meeting quota 30 000 - 38 000 kg of steel ran through main slitter which was cut into smaller coils and sent down pack line, very friendly environment and atmosphere. I learned so much working here taught me to be able to skillfully fly overhead crane with no problems at all, taught me machine operations on several different machines/panels. Management here was wonderful honestly I can’t say I have ever seen much issues in this sense very friendly staff and reasonable management. Workplace culture here was a huge one everyone was like on small happy family that worked together to get the job done correctly. The hardest part of the job was learning the ropes of what we call the mini slitter which was a smaller version of the main mother coil slitter. Much smaller coils ran through on the mini slitter, this machine was to fix any of the coils that came off of the main slitter that may have been damaged from suppliers or damaged somewhere down the line in the plant itself. My most enjoyable part would of been making the friends that I made while working here and I learned more working here than I have yet in my entire career of working in general. 10 gold stars for sure!

Company has a strong Japanese influence with the mentality of "live to work"

Initially the job was very technical, lots of in class training on advanced high tech machinery. Most of which was not necessary or applicable.

Low pay for level of responsibility and cost of machinery compared to other auto parts manufacturers.

Machinery constantly broke down leaving employees to stand around for hours on end. As a result employees are expected to work an hour ot daily plus Saturdays.

1 hour unpaid break, average shift is 10hours plus Saturdays.

Lots of drama amongst coworkers.

Absolutely no work life balance you stay until numbers are met.

Extremely unsafe work practices with amount of hours worked in one shift for certain employees. (Management turns a blind eye)

I wouldnt recommend. Typical day at work is inspecting heavy sharp parts. The press is down more times then it runs, so there for you are sweeping and moping floors most of the time. Then when the press gets up and going you are expected to work mandatory overtime through the week and Saturdays because you signed a 60 hour agreement,

I learned how to take out dies and put them back in and clean them .
They dont pay for breaks , and no double time.Over time after 4o hours work, even if you have a holiday in there.
This company cant manage to keep there employees, its a revolving door either quits or fired.
Theres little to no management so its a free for all.
The hardest part of the job is dealing with all the drama , and watching not so nice people get ahead.
The most enjoyable part of the job was steady income and good benefits.

Terrible terrible terrible,
The only good thing is majority of the floor workers are good people and make work enjoyable. But you have some who are literally in a relationship with someone in management, aswell whenever there is an issue nothing gets done, whenever someone tries to do things about the situation the are either basically forced to quit or fired (ie; why i am now writing this). If you had any sort of life don’t plan on living it when you work here as overtime is all over the place you work transom weekends and you have little to no notice on changing shift schedules.

Great place to work.  Positive Environment. They're going through a huge expansion so a lot of opportunity for growth.  Management teams are personable, approachable and understanding.  A lot of in house training and ongoing learning.  Full company paid benefits, uniforms, safety shoes and glasses.  There is a focus on wellness at the company. 
They definitely focus on each team members strengths and grow each team member based on their skills and where they would like their career path to go.  
A lot of positive activities and rewards for employees to foster team development.  

Mitsui is growing, and quickly.  The work is moderate, and many positions available.  Training is available for any position, all you have to do is ask your supervisor or manager and they can assist you in how to request additional training s to advance your career.
There is still lots of opportunity for change, and improvements as it is still a new company.  
If you want to be successful here, don't be afraid to speak up, ask for help, or request to have a one on one meeting with your supervisor or Manager.



What is the best part of working at the company?
Get overtime paid on time. Working hours are flexible when needed. However, work has to be completed on time. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Meetings which were called without any prior notice. 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Its a mix of Japanese and Local members. However, it's getting well little by little. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Very busy. Some days, there is not much time for a full hour of lunch.

Would never recommend this place as management has ruined this company. The work itself is great and the hard workers on the floor are aswell. But prepare to be micro managed and under watch. It was a fast paced job with lots to do.

For my co-op, I had the incredible opportunity to work with the HR department at Mitsui High-Tec in Brantford. From day one, I was welcomed into a warm and supportive office with friendly and helpful staff. My responsibilities were well-structured, with additional tasks assigned as needed, giving me a dynamic and enriching learning experience.

I highly recommend Mitsui High-Tec not just for student placements but also as a fantastic workplace. This experience has been invaluable, and I am incredibly grateful for the opportunity!

Not getting to work at full potential right away. Have to have a lot of patience there
