If I could give zero stars, I would. This was hands down the worst company I’ve ever worked for. Time off was almost impossible to get, even for valid reasons like doctor appointments or car issues. They wouldn’t even approve time off during slow periods when there was no work. It felt like you were being punished just for needing time off.

I was actually written up after missing just one day even though I had medical documentation clearly stating I shouldn’t have been working at all that week. I still showed up most days because they were busy and I didn’t want to let the team down, but the one day I couldn’t make it, they punished me. No understanding, no appreciation,  just a write-up.

They also underpay experienced workers and offer more to new hires who have little to no experience. Hard work goes completely unrewarded. People who do the bare minimum get paid more and treated better than those who actually care.

Management lied during the interview process about raises and advancement opportunities. None of it was true. Leadership is entirely incompetent, communication is terrible, and basic decisions are constantly mishandled.

If you're looking for a place where your effort, time, or health will be respected… This isn't it.

I’ve worked at Modus on and off since 2012 and overall it’s been a good place to build a career. The company has changed a lot over the years and has diversified the type of modular projects it builds, which has helped keep people working more consistently compared to a lot of places in construction.

The work can definitely be hectic at times with tight deadlines and constant changes, but that comes with the industry. One of the best parts of the job is the people in the shop and the teamwork. Over the years I’ve also had opportunities to learn new skills, take on more responsibility, and grow in my career, which is a big reason why I’ve continued coming back.

They tell you they will supply the tools for you to work. But there isn't enough tools to go around. You're left looking for someone to find you the tools to get the job done. Sometimes you will have to wait for someone to be done using a tool to be able to use it because there isn't enough to go around. If you set something down you are using turn around to do something come back, the item/tool you were using is gone. They plan to hire 75 more people but have no tool orders placed or a plan in progress. I was actually more of a headache than and enjoyable environment to work in. I wouldn't recommend it until they get more organized with the tools for someone to be available to complete their job

Management treats all employees as disposable while maintaining we are a "people" company.  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Morale is low because of all the management blunders. They refuse to acknowledge real problems while maintaining its the workers not them. 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Searching for work, fighting for tools and micro management by people who dont actually know how to do the job.

work is high paced and stressful. after contract is filled immediate lay off. an d replaced with another new employee. continuous lay offs. and mistakes in production that are never fixed. (eg) squaring  frames, measuring mistakes, unlevel and buckled floors. don't work here unless u need fast money because you will be fired at any time

Provided strategic oversight of the product portfolio with focus on developing strategies that advanced market opportunities to align with revenue and growth goals; directed the sales and marketing division with direct report to the Executive Team. Positioned as member of the Executive team to develop and drive company strategy.

Management is terrible pretty much top to bottom, the only saving grace is the camaraderie you gain with your fellow coworkers as its becomes us vs. the management. Pay is reasonable but dont expect a raise. Also expect to do other "favourite" employees work and to be blamed for management's incompetence. The air conditions are less than ideal as well. Turnover is also ridiculously high.

Modus Structures is a good company with steady business partners and clients.

Company should be more focused on it's employees training and updating with new tools and methods. People usually need some incentives which is hard to locate them through traditional management systems.

Modus is a fast growing company with lots to offer. I see a prosperous future for them and the people who work for them.

Awesome team to work with.  People are really friendly and welcoming. Lot of collaboration across departments. 

They have an amazing product and it is exciting to build together.  Lots of growth over this past year as new products and projects have come on stream. Easy to speak with the CEO.
