Monarch is an OK place to work. The health benefits are good and relatively cheap as most of it is covered by the employer. However, you will probably be underpaid. Obviously they are a manufacturing company with a focus on costs and that is going to be at the forefront of everything they do. 

In the shop, you get a 20 minute lunch and a 10 minute break (I see some comments saying its only a 20 lunch). That is not long enough to leave the building but they have a cafeteria with hot lunches, salads, sandwiches, etc. Lots of the employees are english second language, but that is typical in all labour intensive/manufacturing jobs now. For the most part, the employees I interact with are nice and pleasant. Some employees are not happy and you can tell. This does have a negative impact on the overall culture. The office is a bit of an old boys club and I don't see that changing. 

The company does try to show some employee appreciation (BBQs, family event in the summer, small Christmas present, etc). The appreciation feels surface level. The company has been handling COVID well, provides PPE, communicates with us, and has moved things around to accommodate social distancing. 

Started as an entry level CNC setup operator, despite having advanced degrees to program and run more complex equipment. You are assigned a shift, as in they put you on whatever shift they feel like. And no, they don't give you advanced notice. 2-3 days to let you know you've been switched over to midnights for example is common. Production manager and all the other 'upper level' staff only want to hear results, never problems. And to them, a tool they failed to order despite 30+ employees telling them they need it is a common problem.

TLDR: management never listens, causes far more problems that necessary. Pay is not terrible, but a raise in their eyes is $0.10 at best.

Oh, and the skilled tradesmen blow their nose on the bathroom stall walls, and never flush the toilets. Classy. 

Found working on a dialy basis changed alot. Always something different to work on. Also some regular PM maintenance and depending on how large the team is and how busy the company is.

Well equiped but best to have your own tools. Decent tool program company chips in a percentage. 

People are generally friendly, but an aging workforce. Many people have been there for 20+ years. 

If your getting into Maintenance and want to learn more, this place has almost anythign that you can think of to do with machinery from PLC and modern CNC to older machinery still in use from the 70s and everything in between. Belts, conveyors, HVAC of all kinds, Gearboxes air tools etc.. Lots of bench work to do when things are quieter or the pile gets too high.

Place is dirty, Black sand and sand dust everywhere, but you get used to it. Air quality ok, but absolutely need a respirator in many situations (working on dust collectors etc...)

Company pro rates your vacation.  This company is making people work very close to other employees with no protection safety gear.  No danger pay for working threw a pandemic employer does not care about its workers. Lots of people with COVID-19 here but are still forced to work in sud standard conditions.  This Company won’t shut the place down would rather you come to work sick and get everyone else sick.  No job security and No way to move up.  Starting wage is next to min with no raise increases.  This company is run by treating workers like garbage an your always been spoken  down to by supervisors.  It’s nice to know that there are companies still out there that take advantage of human beings.  Don’t buy hydraulics from this place

A bunch of verbal promises were made and none of them were honoured. Don’t waste your time here. Overall the company doesn’t care about their employees. The union is a joke. They treat journey persons like they’re a dime a dozen. They won’t buy the tools needed to do the job. You spend more time looking for tools than you actually need them for. Overall not an enjoyable place to work. I’d recommend not applying here. You know it’s a troublesome place when there are security cameras everywhere. And they’re talking of adding more cuz they can’t see every angle. Their sign In the parking lot was vandalized 4 times in the year that I was there. By their own employees. There are better places to work. Especially if you’re a journeyman, dont waste your time you can do better. 

Every day is always different, very busy and challenging. Working with employees and management is always exciting and full of opportunity. The culture overall is great, the company has a gym free for employee use, a cafeteria with a red seal chef, opportunity for advancement, educational supports, a great benefit program including a matching RRSP program. The facility is extremely clean. Production employees have a uniform program so work shirts are provided and washed for you! GREAT place to work!

Very bad work non stop work sweat shop labour.  People are treated very badly with no respect.  Supervisors always talk down to the workers who can’t talk English.  Your family life comes last if you don’t like it then get out.  Shift changes in the middle of the week for the employees with no life.  500 employees an only 5 washroom stalls.  All you get is one 20 min lunch.  Can’t get people to work for min wage.  Sub standard employment an very abnormal place.  H R is very bad employees lunches go missing all the time.  Health an safety in here every month.  Please don’t buy hydraulics from this place built by upset employees who don’t care.  This company is run by the three stooges.

Hard, dirty and stressful work. Very poor level of planning and always behind schedule. Old production machines that are frequently damaged causing more work stress on plant employees. Management does not value the employee. Work-life balance is poor and workers are rude and disrespectful to each other. Some leadhands and supervisors tend to be aggressive with new employees as well as unprepared for their positions. The learning process is almost non-existent as the company is more focused on production only, leaving aside the true value of taking care of its employees.

I don't recommend working there at all. Stay away!

This place is not normal every dept has different rules there is no talking about the outside world in this company supervisors treat employees like garbage an talk to u very badly.  Working conditions are bad with no a/c.  Very high turn over an very low pay.  The only people that work there are refugees an migrants. Even in the office this company tells you anything just to get ur body in the door.  Also there products are poorly designed an some do not work at all.  The company owns the union next contract will b very bad the only raise u get is when min wage goes up.  So many people have walked out in the first week of work.
