Mondou's credo is for the animals. It sometimes feels like it should be changed for threated like animals and left on your own with no guidance. Badly managed, High risk of injury especially back injuries. In a week most order pickers will lift between 30 to 40 000KG that's 44 us tons! All by hand and with your back. Most pallets are between 500kg to 800kg sometimes can even reach 1500kg. Please note they have no CPR trained personnel  at any given time.Only 3 in the entire shop has knowledge and are never there when you work. No defibrillators on site.No alcohol pads to disinfect wounds. No gloves to protect your hands as they are always out of them.

Sometimes you will  be asked to work when no one is left in the building meaning if something happens only the truckers coming in for their night shifts will get you help. I have not liked the fact they do a lot of business with hiring agency. They hire a lot of immigrants and kinda use them for cheap labor. They slack them often also which is never fun to see .90% of the people they hire comes from an agency so it cost them next to nothing and they get infinite amounts of candidates which they can fire on sight. Which is surprising they even hired 2-3 person  who could only speak spanish. In Canada in order to work safely and withing the rules in place you need to speak english or french therefore you need to be able to communicate at any given time with anyone. Let say something happens to him or her who will translate? you get the idea. 

Now for the plus side The human resources are the best aspect of the business. Sadly you will rarely see or talk to them cause they are on a appointment based system which can take a week. Those people seem to care and are warm. 

A general day at Mondou's warehouse is lift bags of food or litter and make pallets until all stickers are done. Breathe all the dust possible while being out of breath from all the heavy lifting.It's a very very dusty warehouse. Anyone with asthma please avoid. Once done repeat the same task until there are no tickets left.  All week long every week same task same work same heavy lifting. No advancement possibilities. You are either an order picker. A driver or a forklift operator. No possibilities to go in between.

Management lives in their own world, and don't care at all about what the store workers experience or find important. Far too easy for store managers to take advantage of employees' schedules to prevent any sense of stability, but obviously guarantee themselves whatever stable schedule they want. 

Full-timers aren't guaranteed more than 28 hours unless they're managers, and it's written in the contract that we're not even allowed a second job to support ourselves. Insurance is very good, but expensive, and given vacation time is not NEARLY enough for the stress you deal with. Sweeten up to your store manager, because they have complete control over whether you get any pay raises, or if you're stuck at minimum wage.

Advancement training is nonexistent if you have the wrong manager to train you, and if you're unlucky enough to be brushed off about learning new skills, you will be blamed for your lack of progress. 

Lots of opportunities to learn nutrition, animal care and behavior, and grooming, for those who care to know it... but also tons of poorly made trainings, no way to verify information because management never answers questions, and no quality assurance to make sure the employees actually know what they're talking about to clients, which is often.

Like the other reviews say, it's fun seeing the dogs that clients bring in, but get stuck with the wrong people at your store, and this job will be unbearable. Get ready to be mistreated by management and clients alike.

I don't recommend working for Mondou. I worked there for many years and was never appreciated for my time spent at the company. It was also VERY unstable in regards to management. I had a new boss every few months at this company. Meaning that the dynamic of the team would be shifted every time someone new came in and there would be no stability what so ever. I also have seen both full time and part time workers struggle to have  work/life balance (Myself included), since they demand so much from employees but give back so little in the end. They prioritize new people in the company over employees that have been there for years, this is including not dispersing the hours fairly and using favoritism most times to give away hours. The pay is horrible as well, I had a supervisor position  and never got a proper raise for the many years I was there. The company follows the government minimum wage bumps to use the excuse to give us raises very similar this the minimum wage, so if you want to I work here be expected to get .25¢ raises every 6 months/ year. Most assistant and boss will get compensated for making high sales, where us employees who worked hard for those sales would get nothing in return. (We have to be super pushy with sales). The company needs to restructure many unstable things in regards to employee satisfaction instead of opening new stores every week. The only part I enjoyed while working for Mondou was the animals and having colleagues (NOT BOSS) that supported me but asides from that I was miserable at this job. 

I worked at Mondou for over a year now. Everyone in management or higher are clueless, lazy and have absolutely no idea what they are doing. The first manager that was there, spent most of the time hiding in the office, telling inappropriate jokes & conversing with the employees in an unprofessional manner. Then the second manager, who is working from afar, doesn’t know anything about the products that we sell and isn’t very helpful. The work environment has changed a lot over the last 2.5 months and isn’t pleasant. Some of us worked really well together and we all had great skills, it’s unfortunate that it changed for the worse. It’s like it’s no longer about working as a team and those who are in charge do very little just to save their own jobs and no one else’s. Also too many changes in the schedule from one week to the next and definitely a lack of cleaning in the store and in the bathroom and break room. Even though they said that they want to hear our problems or say that they understand where we are coming from, it’s not true. I’m glad that I got out of there in the Knick of time to save what’s left of my mental & physical health. 

It’s insane to me how bad their management is. Over the years it has only gotten worse, there’s truly no hope for this company. Team leads are left to do everything while being underpaid. We’re expected to keep up with all the sales (we’re the ones getting scolded if we can’t reach our numbers), keep up with all the employees, we’re left to deal with all the shifts the managers don’t want to take; as a full-timer you have to have your availabilities opened 24/7 or else you can’t be a full-timer. Which is literally insane to me. You can’t decide your availabilities because managers want to take advantage of you to make sure their schedule is alright. Said i preferred to have two specific days off in the week because it’s the only time i get to spend with my partner, was never respected because “i’m a full timer so they can schedule me anytime”, when they could literally place me anywhere else. Also it doesn’t matter if you pour all your time and efforts into this company; they still won’t be thankful of what you do. Never got a thank you for anything. They don’t care about any of you guys truthfully and they make that known too. 

When i first got there nobody trained me, they expected me to know everything by my 2nd shift and got mad when I didnt.
Manager doesn't know how to manage the team or make a proper schedule. The district manager plays favorites so dont be surprised if you can never please her no matter what you do. The team is very unwelcoming and cold (except one person) and do not like anyone telling them what to do.
No matter how fast and efficient you are doing your job it will never be good enough because its not the way they want to do it.
Very unappreciative and rude.
DO NOT WORK HERE if you are looking for a job with good management and a fun environment.
DO WORK HERE if you like to be blamed for everything, even if you're not working that day and if you like to get under-payed for long hours.
MANAGEMENT TEAM SPEAKS POORLY ABOUT EMPLOYEES BEHIND THEIR BACKS (i was ast. manager so ive seen this with my own eyes and ears)

The company is constantly running low on employees and you have to pick up the slack for them. The pay was not worth the work they ask for, upper management doesnt know how things work in the store and will create goals that are practically unachievable and wonder why you can't  reach them. No support offered, even during the first wave of covid they were focused more sales than the well being of employees. Definitely happier now that I left. The store team itself was amazing and it's so much fun seeing clients come in with their dogs, but upper management doesnt truly care what goes on in the store unless the sales goals aren't met.

This is a fun place to work at, it is fairly easy and really fun. Mondou will offer you free class to learn about comportment and care and specially food requirements for each dog/cat races to help you instruct and guide their customers. They are well organized and will do whatever is needed for you to offer the best service possible. I can't talk about my experience with my coworkers or supervisor because every branch is different but the classes are required for every employee and the job tasks will stay the same which are ; taking care of the cash register, helping customers, restock the floor, keep the shop clean.

from all the work ive been this is way far the worst one i had in term of management, there is no communication, the manager themself dont know anything about what they sell and to who they sell it, most of the emplyee are only there to get paid and mostly those higher in the chain of command and if anything happen and they dont like you they will use HR complains as a way to get rid of you as they did with one of the person i was working with there.
