Monte Carlo Inns

A typical day would be, I would enter the kitchen and greet the other employees. I would then prepare my area with bins of hot water to help clean of any resistant food items. After the rush of dirty plates, things would settle down and i would have a chance to sweep and mop the kitchen. Then when it was time for closing i would do a thorough clean of my area along with the kitchen floor. 

I learned a lot about how the chefs prepare different orders. I also learned great time management skills.

The co-workers were all great people. Many of them were much older than I was but they still treated me with respect. I felt like i was apart of a kitchen team, not just someone who washed dishes. 

The hardest part of the job was trying to remain patient when a huge pile of dishes came into the station and the chefs also needed their utensils cleaned. This helped me learn to prioritize what needed to be done in the short term and what i could do in the long term.

The Montecarlo Inn was the best company to work for. All I could do was be myself and management really cared for me. If there were any ideas, things I needed to share or even just to say hello to upper management, you can always count on the amazing people at the Monte Carlo Inns.

When it came to advancements, I was amazed in how short a period of time I had escalated; having seen this, I felt great to see that they really saw my skills and determination to advance me from front desk agent to front desk supervisor in just six months.

All my roles was all about the interactions with the guests: from the check in/check out process to even speaking with the guests about their experiences, I never sat in my office: and for management allowing me to interact with the guests, it really does say a lot about a company (very good things)

Usual time is early morning - as the guests check out and asking how was their stay with the hotel and resolving any problems that may have is different everyday. I feel great once I resolve the problem. Manager comes in, asking how's everything - and I usually say, things were fine and resolved. As well as the others comes in (housekeepers) and give their assigned room to clean and wish them to have a good day. Hardest part would be - if any rooms have any problem for example, the shower is leaking or AC isn't working in the room especially if the maintenance is not in yet. I usually switch them to different room. The most enjoyable part of my job is dealing with the guests.

On the second day I was able to coordinate with the culinary dept. and was highlited with the record sales batch.

there is a profound stink of 'As long as its managed it doesnt matter who it is managed by' attitude. Strong disconnect between Upper management of this small franchise and everybody else. Leaving the current manager to deem right from wrong. And believe me, this is worse than it sounds. Everybody below management dont have very many things to brag about work culture-wise. Its a hotel franchise with SO much potential, but losing it all just to scramble for the closest or fastest person to make manager.

I liked working for the Monte Carlo I just wish that the management at that particular hotel was a little bit better and more professional. I liked the staff members I liked meeting the customers overall the hotel was very clean and I would definitely work there again if there was better management And I lived in Barry I now live in Toronto

Manager is very rude the maids are very rude the front desk people are rude the rooms are very dirty don’t clean probably maids steel they don’t respect workers they very shady people who rent rooms there it’s all around a bad place to go they will rent rooms to anyone to get money and it doesn’t matter what kind of people so you can imagine what kind of people that is unbelievable it is a miserable place to be day in and day out working hard and fast and they push you to work faster never happy with your work you do always want more 

What is the best part of working at the company?
Nothing,its very toxic and management does not care,they have no empathy or concern for employees. 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Pushed to  do too many rooms in 8 hrs,no one cares if you're injured or sick,just complete your job. No one listens,theres no motivation, respect or appreciation 

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Highly toxic and stressful,depressing

They hosted lunches often for the employees 

The work itself wasn’t too stressful, just trying to get rooms clean in a rush could be at times. 

Overall I enjoyed my time there, it’s too bad it ended. 

Mostly my fault for having a mental breakdown and feeling too embarrassed to go back. 

it is a fun place. the staff and co-workers are good. I learned a lot there. time- management, on the job learning, being calm. I learned cooking and cleaning. my communication skills were improved. I learned a lot about Canadian people as I handled reception. there is nothing hard about the job until you enjoy it.
