Montreal General Hospital

The PIP program stood for Perinatal Intervention Program.  The team consisted of the Study Supervisor, Study Co-ordinator, Research Assistants, Jr. Assistant/Secretary.  I started when the study had already gone through the pilot phase of the study.  A lot was already established for the beginning of the study and as time went on, new changes and objectives were developed.  

I completed grant applications, typed correspondence, managed the office, order supplies, photocopied, and enlisted study participants that were approached for study at  Gynecologists' offices as they were pregnant.  They were randomized and when notice of delivery was obtained I contacted them in hospital and randomized them in the study.  Further follow-up by phone or home visits were made over the next 18 months.  Senior staff entered data on computer and printed statistics.  I typed the final draft and study was subsequently published.

As my first day everything was new and l was kind of lost l did not know where to go or find things needed to be used on client . During that period l learnt to bath a client in a shower chair,in bed and positioning client with the help of someone or without,also with the help of client if he/she can move.Mangement was so organised and l cooperate well with my co-oworkers.The hardest part of the job is if a co-oworker does not do their job as directed.The most enjoyable part of the job is to see clients getting well and looking happy,it makes me feel l did a great job taking care of someone.

I started to work at the Montreal General Hospital right after I graduated from Dawson College.  It was a teaching hospital. I learned very many skills and abilities because of this.  Working in the Burn Unit was hard work and each individual patient was in an isolation room.  There was a lot of hand washing and gown changing but enjoyed my five years there.  There was much to learn when working in the Surgical Intensive Care Unit.  The patients were critically ill and usually post op and over time I became a confident critical care nurse.  We surely worked as a team in SICU and we were friends and socialized together out side of the hospital.

A 42 bed General surgery unit specializing in colorectal surgeries. In addition, the unit has Acute Care, Trauma, Oral-Maxillary-Facial, Plastics, Orthopedics, and Bariatric Surgeries. The unit consists of a varying types of patient acuity. Working on a busy unit, with a large multidisciplinary teams provides a great environment for learning. 
I have learned from my on-the-job nursing, and from the patients I care for, that we are all human, all the same, and all of us will need care at one time or another. I feel blessed to be in the nursing profession, to be in a position to help care for others and keep them safe.

Working with patients who have limited use of their own bodies due to injury or disability, a physical therapist builds flexibility, strength, and spirit. My goals are to reduce the patients’ pain, to increase their range of motion, and to give them back their sense of self-determination. “All day I help people get back in charge of their lives, and that makes me feel great!” This sense of contributing to peoples’ quality of life is important to those entering the field. Physical therapy is emotionally and physically demanding, and a patient’s progress has to be measured in extremely small increments

I provided patient care; transported patients; delivered messages; documents and specimens; observed patients' conditions; reported changes to nurses. From this work, I learned how to communicate with patients, how to manage time efficiently and to be able to work in a team with co-workers. The hardest part of the job was that sometime it was super busy, and we had to let patients wait for a long time to wait for the doctors. The most enjoyable part was when I helped patients to relief their pain a little bit and receive thankfulness。

I started at the Montreal General hospital right after graduating Nursing School, I had completed two rotation of Clinicals on the unit I worked, and it was a great learning experience for me during my Clinicals that I wanted to join the team. I am thankful for the knowledge that I gained while there, because of my experience I gained; enable me to work on the units that I've worked here in the States. Am always thankful for my time at the Montreal General Hospital.

Most wonderful ppl to work with! They will support you in every step! MGH is teaching hospital so if u need experience this is the place for you! 
People work there for decades and newbies never leave! It’s a hard work but so worth it by the end of the day! They will have your back and you’ll do same in return!

-Provide oncology nursing care to patients: administering prescribed medications and chemotherapy treatments
