Morbern Inc

Morbern is a company who recently celebrated its 50th anniversary. Many changes over the years have made Morbern successful and well known name in the vinyl industry worldwide. Currently implementing Lean Manufacturing and the possibility of plant expansion to further enter the automotive industry. The enjoyable part of my position is seeing efficiency rise while reducing seconds. The hardest part would working with an engrained culture of strongly unionized employees who are perhaps the highest hourly paid in the area yet "buck" at change.

A typical day consist to review schedules and adress issues related to manufacturing. Overtime scheduling. New employee's review and feedback. Lokk for continuous improvement in processes.

Learned a lot in vynil manufacturing processes

Being a aging workforce at Morbern, the introduction of a new culture, ideas was percieved negatively. Management's support, although in favor of lean manufacturing techniques, was not visible (wich I considered as being the hardest).
The most enjoyable part of the job was interaction with the floor to adress production issues to improve process.

Decent coworkers. A lot of them are much older and are set in their ways. 
Learned to always took overtime to be a team player. 
Management could not care less about you. They will actively ignore requests or concerns brought up. 
Learned not to be a "company man" because your are just a disposable asset to them. They just string you along. 
Hardest part of the job is the rotating 12 hour shifts. (You will have 0 social life working here) 
Most enjoyable part of the job was walking out the door at the end of the day. 

Micro management in negative ways. Accusations before investigations. Inaction till customers complain. Equipment repair and safety are only handled when there is a work refusal. Management more inclined in placing blame then correction. Very informal and vulgar staff. 3 years 3 tier to make full wage. No advancement beyond 3 years. Stress leave and work place injury all time high. Poor air quality. Exposure to numerous chemicals. Having Proper PPE provided is difficult. Higher wage in local area due to unionized workforce.

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
too much drama and they expect you to stand for your whole 12 hour shift while all the old men sleep and do nothing

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
full of drama and grumpy old men

Lost my job as I had to be transfered multiple times off my post to different departments due to low staff.

Because of that I lost training time on my regular job post. So after 3 months they said I'm not up to standard. But never considered the training time they've taken away from me to help in a different departments. 

i was a back stander for morbern inc i was there 30 minutes before we were supposed to start so i could go in and start getting everything ready before we started and i would give my 110% everyday

I like working at Morbern, paid well, not physically draining. It can be dirty however they do have onsite showers. They offer a variety of shifts. your fellow workers are for the most part very fun to work with

Typical shift- stand around and wait, wait some more. Chase answers. Make it up as you go. Fill out same paperwork in numerous formats. Skip lunches, miss breaks. 

Employees are negative,  training process is unprofessional. You must also work with plenty of carcinogenic chemicals, and cope with constant loud machinery. Not worth it for most people.
