Mott Electric GP

Mott was a great company to work for. I would best describe my experience as "you get what you put in". Mott recognises talent and is willing to invest in you if you show you are invested in the company. Training programs, advancement within the company and advancement in your certification are just some of what Mott has to offer. I started in Mott's commercial division and am now an industrial maintenance electrician who has furthered his career with training in automation and instrumentation. I can honestly say that without the experience and skills I gained from working for Mott electric, I would not be where I am today.
Not everything was rosy. Like most contracting, there are times where there isn't a lot of work. But conversely there are times where you are asked to work as much overtime as you can. I was never in the same place for longer than a month, which can be a pro or a con. (I found it to be a con).
All in all, the people are great, the work is interesting, and the opportunity to grow is there. 10/10 I would recommend working for Mott electric.

What is the best part of working at the company?
Not a good environment to learn as an apprentices some of the journeymen crew are full of them selfs and can see 2 feet in front of them the general manager isn’t open or a great person to have a conversation with (doesn’t give full picture for situations) they’ll make you do telecom work instead of any electrical work which doesn’t help learning skills to be in the trade. Thread lightly when working for these people 

What is the most stressful part about working at the company?
Talking to the general manager and being put down for not knowing or being a super star with bending pipe or pulling/circuting being told that you have to think about the project 24/7 365 no mental break. Watching journeymen waist wire and not have any day about it  

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Streasful turbulent non supportive 

What is a typical day like for you at the company?
Wake up early and get yelled at or if it’s slow stand around

Building teamwork becomes difficult when events are artificially forced, and the presence of disingenuous individuals who feign sincerity while betraying your trust makes it even harder. In such circumstances, it's challenging to place your faith in the so-called family at work.

Very happy with the company.  Would recommend working there to anyone.  There are many positions in many areas of the trade and if you stick around a while, there are opportunities to move around and learn many different aspects of the industry.  Glad to have been a part of it for over a decade.

The management at Mott provided a strong sense of teamwork. Everybody pulled together to complete tasks quickly and safely.
I cannot think of a hard part of the job, because it is what I enjoyed doing.

Great work teams in the field and solid office support. Work varies which has its advantages. Paid fairly, treated well. Good company all around. Needs more apprentices but they seem to be in short supply everywhere

Good to find a union position as an electrician. Typical politics to be found, some nepotism as well. Kinda annoying but just keep your head down and try show initiative you get farther. Some management / foreman actually don't much at work and get mad when you point it out lol. 

Great company to work for , as your fellow co-workers and management are usually good people. Few old schools guys that need the boot, but outside of that everyone is pretty great. 

Excellent Company to work for, they take great care of their workers. If you're a good worker you can stay with this company for many years. Would recommend anyone looking for work to try and get hired with Mott.

Doesn’t follow union guidelines for supervisors. No paid training and no room for rate increase. Time off has been denied to many individuals accept those in a supervisors position....not a good choice
