Mount Norquay

Great place to work with great experiences to be had, with friendly co-workers. For the most part customers are friendly and eager to learn which helps the job be more rewarding and fun.

The main downside is the awful management. Certain members of the management are biased against instructors not returning for another season, and opinions will be based very quickly on your equipment and appearance.

Shifts will be based upon management's personal opinions on instructors instead based off skill and experience, with certain GAP programme's receiving better treatments than others and some not receiving the agreed upon shifts due to managements personal bias.

There is one South African individual who does not care for his employees and will use you as much as he can until he lays you off. Multiple workers have unfortunately endured this while working there. Management can cut you at any part of the day sending you home and expect you to work most days. Hence, making little money and ruining any free time you have to actually enjoy Banff. If speaking up this individual has fired and held tips from a worker to firing a worker for asking for more flexibility with shifts. I have given Norquay two stars as i know other management and positions on the hill are better. 

The food and beverage manager is an embarrassment for the company. This individual will pull you into his office and attack the employee on a personal level… which is extremely unprofessional, making them feel bad about themselves as a human. Management is also extremely disorganized and often will leave things to the last minute. 

Overall, Norquay could be an amazing place to work at if they had the proper training for this one particular manager. 

Only good thing you will get from food and bev is finding friends but if your looking for a good work environment just don’t work for food and beverage. Work in any other department you’ll be 100% happier. It’s quite shocking how managers treat you with such little respect and act surprised when they have no staff. Hope they treat the new hires good because the turn over is crazy and not surprising at all. Good luck 

Morning meeting: listen to the same talk every day from our autocratic manager, witness my coworker getting verbally abused, enjoy the view of the mountains and the nice commute, marvel at the wildlife nearby, live in a crowded, overpriced staff accommodation,  (giving a chunk of my income back to the owners who is my employer),  but having fun and repeat.

Fun place to work, feels like family. 
Competitive pay
Being a ski resort there are busy times where 'all hands on deck' is required. 
The food is excellent and service is fast and friendly when your shift is done. 
The skiing is great and you can't beat those views of the National Park!



I was an equal partner in the creation and operation of a very successful skill improvement program to teach adults to truly improve and enjoy the sport of alpine skiing. 

By far the worst company to ever work for as a tradesmen, they will use use use and crew you over in the end.
To this day they still owe me a thousand, they have no plans on paying.

Never work for the company liars cheaters and thefts.

Doesn't seem like the owners really care to invest money into this place. Wages are low for everything you have to do. Revolving door of employees which says something about the management and owners here. Poor morale. 

Loved my experience working at Mount Norquay, the hours were flexible, discount was nice, and made some great friends through working and training with fellow instructors in small groups. I mean, you're getting paid to ski, what more could you ask for?
