Mount St. Louis Moonstone

Our ski school director is a terrific man and mentor to all his ski instructors and employees. My day started at 8:00 when I would meet each school bus that came in daily. I greeted them and briefed them on safety and what the day held for them, and ended at 3pm when they boarded the bus to return home.

Every day we meet different types of people with different personalities and learning abilities. Being able to adjust my teaching and the techniques I use is a special gift I hold. Making sure each individual leaves with a positive experience was always my goal.

The hardest part is bearing temperatures of -35  and seeing the season end in March.

Overall, it's not too bad, but when you work evening shift, the morning shift will leave their mess behind for you to clean up. No matter how much you prepare, and no matter how much you clean, the morning shift will always blame evening shift for every incident that happens the next morning.

Some managers tell you to keep tips, after all you received the tip because the the quality of service you provided, whereas other managers have accused employees of stealing from them when they find out they kept a grand total of $3 in tips at the end of the day. If you don't allow employees to keeps tips, fine, its your purgative, but stay consistent throughout management.

Usually pretty laid back days but on busy days you'll be kept on your toes, it is an outside job so be ready to dress appropriately. You'll learn good to great interpersonal skills and how to interact with guests (skiers). Management can be a little dicey depending on how far up management you go, supervisors are nice and easy going but don't expect much from the bosses. Other staff are good people and make the atmosphere that much better.

Mount St. Louis Moonstone is a magnificent place to work. The staff are great as well as the owners. Ive learned a lot from working in guest services and the boutique, there is always challenges ranging from people being upset or delighted and always in the end they are leaving with a smile on their face. I have been very fortunate to work at such a great place.

I don't find anything stressful about working here.

What is the work environment and culture like at the company?
Very positive and friendly. Leaders are supportive.

I worked as a ski instructor. Got to ski for free. Taught school groups. Did ski patrol after getting kids on the green hill. Ski for pleasure in between lessons. Low pay. They help instructors with their development. 

Working at mount st Louis moonstone was a fun experience to work at. Going to work each and every day to a team of people how wanted to provide the best experience possible for the guests.There is not a better feeling than arriving at work each morning and wondering what adventurers awaited us that day.

A very welcoming place to work as well as flexible for hours which is extremely nice for college students. Management is very involved and is seen very often also working in uniform around the resort, they also have your back in the event of an issue with guests.

What I learned from working at Mount St Louis Moonstone was people skills such as how to talk to customers and help them with understanding information I also learn some math skills that we're needed I also learn to take in information from other employees to help make my working skills better in the workplace

-Updated on changes 
-Knowledge should be shared with the whole team instead of just (2) to be able to not be tossed to the lions when someone is sick.
-I don't find the job hard at all
-co workers that work well together is enjoyable and makes a better work place if everyone is part of a team.
