If your not afraid of an honest days work, the company will take care of you. The management team will come see you on site, and they genuinely want to know how you are doing, and if they can help.  I have worked in the Oil patch for most of my life, and this company strives to live by a set of values: Safety, teamwork, and lead by example. Yes they have their struggles, but you can see they care. 

However, this is Oilfield work. Don’t be surprised that It has all of the complications of oilfield work. Your away from home on shifts. Your part of a service company on a drilling rig for the most part. Therefore, there is field politics, and there can be difficult consultants and clients. 
Movac has an extensive safety program, and you will be held to it. Knowing that, there is some paperwork, and you will require all of your safety tickets. But that’s not news if you have oilfield experience. From what I understand they are trying to go to electronic logs and time sheets. This should help with some of the paperwork. 

I hope this review helps eliminate some of the surprises, and eases any concerns.

Meetings in the morning usual involved management complaining. Culture that breeds frustration and blaming others. Dealing with management was the worst. The company had poor fleet maintenance and repair. A lot of hack job repairs  and ignoring issues till they completely fail. They refused to invest in properly repairing their fleet. Would leave work till the last minute then require employees to work over time even though repairs should have been done during slow season. They under pay drivers then wonder why they have terrible drivers. Their own field service trucks are in complete disrepair. Barely running leaking oil and they refuse to invest in properly repairing their OWN SERVICE TRUCK. The fleet management in the company is among the worst ive ever seen. 

I’ve been with Movac for almost 3 years, and I never had a major issues with them, just trying to get a schedule from them is probably the biggest problem I have with them,but you’ll have to understand that it’s all tentative on the clients needs. 
The management and Human Resources are really easy, at least for me to get deal with, and they were very understanding and accommodating when I needed time away. I also returned the favour many times by being as versatile as I can, by being available for any job or equipment they need me on.  
I enjoy the camaraderie working with other employees and contractors. But there is always a few bad apples in the bunch, just learn to keep conversations with them at a minimum. 
The oil industry is a feast or famine one. You could be really busy or you could be laid off. For those of you working now, thank your lucky stars that you are, especially during a pandemic. 

People were great to work with but the management is incompetent and untrustworthy.

Never have adequate equipment for the commitments that are made to the clients. 

Hired for one position, make you do a completely different one.

HR complaints from operators and supervisors ignored by management .

When you voice concerns or ask questions they immediately start to push you out.

They want you to work 24/7 to fill the multiple  roles . When you finally burn out, they blame you for anything possible and push you out.

When it comes time for them to compensate you, they do whatever they can not to pay you for all the extra time you put in.

If you like to be lied to, mistreated, overworked and not paid. This is the place for you.

I have worked at movac for a while now. I believe that it is a great place to work, management and co-workers are always looking to support. It is more of a relaxed environment; limited dress code, which I prefer. I have always felt safe to provide feedback directly to management. They also have software in place to leave feedback and encourage doing the surveys on that platform. I have seen effective response to my feedback and implementation of solutions. They do put in effort to create a life and work balance, it’s been increased since Covid, they now have events for all members and family to connect outside of work. During my time here I have heard of a few issues but those issues have been resolved and management is committed to maintaining a positive work environment.

My first day at Movac was very disappointing. The truck was extremely old and in poor condition — there were no proper buttons, only indicator lights, so you had to guess what was controlling what. The equipment you’re expected to work with feels like it’s from the dinosaur age.

There is no real training, just a quick orientation, and then they expect you to start working immediately without really knowing anything. You are overwhelmed with paperwork from the very beginning.

There is a high employee turnover — people don’t want to work with this kind of equipment, and new hires are expected to learn everything in a few minutes. Overall, a lot of stress, no proper support at the start, and something I’ve never experienced before..

If you decide to apply here keep these things in mind.  
Its a good job, but if you do well, you will get more work, you will start putting in more and more hours and working from home to prove you are good at your job.  
You will be compensated, with a bottle of wine or a gift card.  You will not be compensated for your time.  
You will think your wage is good, until you realize that you are having a huge deduction every month for your benefits.  They are a lot of money for nothing special.
You will realize you are told your opinion matters, your thoughts matter, your ideas matter, but in the end, they don't really.  No one will listen.  
But...if you are a friend of someone, or a family member already working there, even if you aren't really qualified, you will probably get a job. 


I have been there for almost a year, I have been praised by management at head office and I have been also praised by consultants.  I was hired to run a Vac Truck and was  on lead vac and now I am on water truck with a cut in pay and not getting any hours . I have watched guys that have only recently been hired and they are working steady. Being at home doesn't pay the Bill's. Doesn't seem that seniority means anything or your diversity on the job , helping out the company when asked means anything. Management hasnt even questioned why such a decrease in hours is happening,  fairness seems out the window. Love the job, love the work, but very disappointed with the unfairness. 

One of the best companies I've worked for. Management respects and listens to employees. I always felt supported and able to go to managers with anything. The workplace culture is one like family, with just enough competitiveness and ambition to motivate everyone to work really hard, both individually and as a team. As an employer they expect a lot, and also give a lot back. Upper management was always flexible to my needs and concerns. If you want a comfortable workspace, challenging work and to make great friends, this is the company for you
