was surprised to get supplied with all the ppe, work wear, monitor etc. They also paid ot on stat holidays for contractors.  On the other side our field lead was a bit full of himself which made the job a bit more undesireable to be there. They expected the operators to do all the work that should of been contracted out like servicing engines, pumping of leases, cleaning up of small spills.  

I liked my time at Murphy. Overall the people were very good to work with and for. Very typical of a US owned company, though, with the strings being pulled from the US. The US doesn't necessarily really understand Operations in Canada and it shows with some of the decisions being made. Fairly political place to work so you had to be somewhat careful but not as bad as some places I've been. Overall not too bad which is why I would give it an average rating.

Miscommunication from Executives to front line management,  I've never seen a company so poorly managed with no sense of direction.  THe company wastes money, and then when there is a downturn lays of its valued employees, where if they were more strategic, and managed their money better could retain much of the valued staff.

HR also treats employees as outsiders...there is a lack of respect and a tendency to be deceitful.

New system implementation every 6 months to a year
Politics from El Dorado and Houston dictate your life
6 people have left the Finance team in 6 months, some without other work
Culture is agist with young staff not being given respect

I had a hard time to get my roles and responsibilities from my manager. nothing was ever written in stone, the work schedule was always changed. this manager was a mirco manager . you could never do thing right for him. we parted ways and I am happier

Murphy Oil Canada has the worst working culture I have ever seen. They have had a high turnover rate in the last 2 years, that is directly correlated to management. Little to no social activities outside of work for holidays etc, little community involvement, spread thin due to lacking man power, expect lots of overtime. 

I am not an office environment person so that did not help.  But the training is poor and the people are clicky.  They are not transparent about anything going on in the company.  You will most definitely do more work then your job requires but not be paid for it.  They do not like to convert hourly to full time and hourly does not receive benefits

I enjoyed the work, flexibility and the opportunity to work with many different departments. The opportunities included Regulatory reporting projects and optimizing business processes at Murphy.

Enjoyed my time at Murphy Oil. Worked with a lot of talented individuals in the IT department.  Great company and culture.  Unfortunately due to circumstances they had to shutdown their Calgary office.

Love working at Murphy, they have provided me with enormous opportunity to advance my career. I'm always challenged on a daily basis and have a good team to work with. Also my direct supervisor is very supportive
