Muskoka Bay Resort

This company has no idea how to treat their employees with respect and appreciation. It is a very negative place to work.  They are NOT a resort.  They have no idea how to run a hotel properly. You will not be trained properly or given the right tools in order to succeed. They have no H.R department. They will promise you benefits that you will not receive. You rarely get your schedule until two days before your next work week. Your time off requests will not be honored. You will be constantly lied too. No decent staff accommodation provided. Therefore, you will not make enough money to justify the cost of living in Muskoka. You will not be recognized for doing good work and only be bullied and berated by the managers to the point you want to cry. Guests will constantly complain and yell at you because this company has no clue how to actually run a hotel. The managers will always side with the guests and will not defend you at all. DO NOT WORK HERE!! Find any other resort/hotel in Muskoka if you are actually looking for a company that provides a positive work environment and values their employees.

This company has no idea how to be a resort and is just a condo development next to a nice golf course. The lack of professionalism and communication between departments is horrendous which makes this place is an awful place to work. The cost of living is on the rise and this company seems to ignore the fact that in Muskoka the living wage is $19.05 an hour. You will get lousy pay for an extremely stressful job. Don't count on tips as the members here are cheap and entitled. You will also not receive any support from the managers. Just negative feedback because they have no idea how to provide a positive experience for their guests or their staff. You will feel under appreciated and taken for granted and made to look incompetent by your supervisors. There are so many other resorts in Muskoka to work for that provide a much more well rounded and positive experience because they know what the definition of hospitality is.

I enjoyed working there but poor management dont address issues.the person that approached with a problem was the one that was treated the wrong way.All goes down to no training just winging through there position.

Management not dealing with issues in a professional manner

Regimental not enjoyable at all it was like management were not on there same page

In all my years I have never worked for a company that cared so little for the happiness and well being of their employees.  They definitely do not pay enough at all in order to maintain a decent cost of living, especially for the high level of stress involved. No decent staff accommodation provided. Don't believe a word they tell you about anything in regards to benefits because you will not get them.  They will toss you aside as soon as you stand up for yourself.  Even in the short time I was there dozens of employees got let go and the smart ones quit due to the way they were being treated so poorly.  Just an awful place to work. 

Gossip, drama, payroll issues, very unorganized! It doesn’t matter what department you work in, this place doesn’t appreciate their staff (with the exception of a few favourites). You will work like a dog for barely above minimum wage while being treated with disrespect and gossiped about behind your back.

The payroll department is a joke and a lot of employees have had multiple errors on their pay. If they mess up your final pay they will argue with you about how much they owe you and then they will take forever to mail a check to you. Don’t expect them to care - It’s not important to them.

Joining Muskoka Bay Resort has been the best career decision I have ever made.

 Team Support is there in every level of the organization. Leaders are visible and accessible. Employee recognition is there, hard work is rewarded and recognized by the team members. 

Competitive wages in the area, higher wages compare it to other areas in Ontario within the hospitality industry. 

Overall, great organization to work for.

Worked here for over a year only had a raise when I switched departments regardless of several lies about a raise. Verbally harassed by management. Some departments have no uniforms other departments expect you to pay 400$ for a uniform. Non flexible hours.

This place is not what it appears. They are full of empty promises. You don't get a schedule until last minute. The pay is horrible for the amount of stress you will endure. They do not care about their staff at all and lack the fundamentals to provide a positive work environment. You will get yelled at on a daily basis by unhappy guests because the owners and members here are king and everybody else are considered peasants. Worst job experience ever

If you enjoy working hard this is a fantastic place to work. I loved the members at the Resort and always had so much fun working the Weddings. The staff does typically change from year to year but the core Managers are great to get along with. I would recommend Muskoka Bay to young people looking for an energetic summer job.

If you have a license and enjoy cleaning this job is for you.No other employers have ever treated me as fair and good as this one did. Everyone helps each other out to get the job done. Full hours are there if you want them.
