Muskoka Lakes Golf and Country Club

Management- Completely unethical behaviour. A lot of lying and manipulation, a lot of predatory behaviour on young people who lack experience and confidence, a lot of empty promises and denial of promises.  completely irresponsible, complete neglect of communication.  More time spent lying and manipulating to justify their existence than actually helping the place move forward.  The establishment is second, personal gains come first when it comes Manager's decisions.

Terrible use of money and abuse of company assets including staff.

Unsafe work place, unsafe equipment, very poorly maintained everything.

The members are very nice.  I feel sorry for them and if they had this type of management running their businesses I would imagine there would be terminations.

If you really want a low paying job at a golf course go work for any of the others in Muskoka and atleast enjoy your time without any of the baggage that comes with this place.

Every day is a different day when working at Muskoka Lakes Golf & Country Club. There are a variety of jobs on the turf care team that are intriguing and beneficial to learn. Upon joining I was warmly welcomed, and despite having some struggles with learning equipment, I was given lots of help and advice. All of the turf care workers are super laid back and were all fun to work with. On top of all, you get to play tennis and golf for free on the beautiful course that you put work into maintaining! The only thing that needed getting used to was the hours. However once I got into routine, it was smooth sailing.

Muskoka Lakes Golf and Country Club is a great place to work in the summer if you're looking for competitive wages and a work/life balance. Requesting days off was a simple process and you didn't feel guilty for asking. Working at Muskoka lakes i got to enjoy a monthly BBQ with my fellow co-workers and on certain occasions go out for Breakfast, and the greens crew who's birthdays are during the working season are celebrated and makes you feel apart of the family at Muskoka lakes. This is a private family gold course and the members are friendly and some you will get to know on a first name basis whether you're working or playing on the course.

My time in Muskoka was more than amazing.

-Typical day at work: always different. Always a happy day. 
-I have learned the proper way of serving guests. How to handle and help difficult situations and how to treat your guests to go above and beyond to make their stay much more enjoyable! 
-The Management team was amazing. Always on top of everything especially organization. 
-The hardest part of the job was making sure everything goes perfectly and never messing up. 
-Most enjoyable was seeing the whole team at work and ready to start a new day! As well as communicating with the members making them feel like family.

We would all walk into the kitchen for 8:30 am. The Chef would make a prep list for us and we would all start working to complete the list for the nights dinner service. Between 2-4 we would get a break ranging from 1-3 hours to take a break before the nights service. We all met again at 5 to start setting up for the function we had going on eg, Mens night, Bridge, Al a Carte, Family night and Steak and Lobster, with some weddings on the weekends. At the end of the service we would all start doing our cleaning process, and get the entire kitchen cleaned before we left for the night.

Muskoka Lakes Golf and Country Club is a very good job for anyone interested in the game of golf. The turf department is full of amazing people and it is always something new every day. The course itself is beautiful and is such a fun environment for working every day. The early hours are great if you are trying to take full advantage of your days during the summer. Learning new skills is always fun and if you interested in golf, being constantly surrounded by members and being able to improve their experience is such a fulfilling task. 

I would come in and make sure everything was stocked. I would make food if it was a call down or someone at the window. I served beer from cans or a keg and other alcohol. I used the Jonas system for ringing in orders and also handled cash. at closing time I made sure everything was clean. That included cleaning the flat top, tables, carpet, washrooms, floors and laundry. I restocked and put food away with dates on them, also organized member chits, and balanced cash.

MLGCC has been a great place from the get-go. The Turf Management Team has been easy to approach and communicate clearly with your day-to-day tasks in the Turf Center, as they are always changing, which also keep things fresh. Working outside in beautiful Muskoka during the summer months, doing unique and interesting tasks, with a great crew is the best aspect of MLGCC...plus golf!
They have checked all the boxes for me and I can't wait for the 2020 season to get swinging!

I worked as an assistant manager and loved my time at the club. It can be challenging but management is very aware of your needs. You will do a lot of events and get to know the members by name which makes it feel like a family atmosphere. Lots of perks like golf, swimming, tennis ect. I didnt stay in staff housing but from what I saw it seemed fun, clean and safe. Definitely would recommend for a summer job or full time if it is offered. Lots of learning opportunities 

I enjoyed my position at the club and appreciated the extensive hours. It is a great summer job and gives you a fantastic opportunity to experience Muskoka. Despite this, the club is in desperate need of changing some management issues. Some managers abused their power and were not constructive in their criticism, which made work difficult. It was clear they favoured certain employees over others and unfairly targeted the ones they did not like. Other than that, it was a great experience!
